Death 16
Premeditated Suicide of 51 year old Man
Death by Hanging
this page under development please check back...
Uchcha L-3 Shukra empowers Guru the Kharesha
Guru-Kharesha in lagna with strength; Guru's tenant uchcha Shukra occupies the 22nd decanate.
Vimshottari period of Chandra/Shukra/Shukra
"When the 9th or the 5th Rashi from that in which the Moon is, is either occupied or aspected by a malefic planet
and when the Drekamsha of the 8th bhava (i.e. the 22nd from the rising Drekamsha) happens to be what is termed Sarpa, Nigada or Pasa ....
the astrologer may predict suicide by hanging."
~~ Jataka Parijata, Ch. 5, ln. 106
"The lord of the eighth house occupying the ascendant produces ill health and disease.
It makes the individual frustrated in life, critical of everything.
He may however unexpectedly receive some monetary reward from the state."
~~ Bepin Behari Planets in Signs & Houses, p. 149
The native was a deeply unhappy critic of most interpersonal relationships, and all forms of social government.
Using confidential information (8), his family invested in large tracts of land which were later sold to the government for an excellent price. Thus he became independently wealthy.
Not happy or satisfied - but quite wealthy!
(It should be clear from the condition of domain-4 that this native was never happy.)
This middle aged, middle class man was a financially independent, skilled manual craftsman.
[Shani lord of 10th navamsha = manual labor.]
He had numerous friends, a lovely & devoted companion, a beautiful home, good physical health, a supportive local community, & abundant time to devote to his skilled crafts, hobbies & music.
From the outside, it appeared that he was leading a charmed life and had everything to live for.
A shockingly sudden mental collapse
Friends & family of the native report an almost overnight collapse of this man's once charmed life, in the period of less than 3 months preceding his tragic suicide.
From a base of a highly rational & materially privileged existence, he plunged suddenly into the realm of evil spirits, suffering terror of capture & imprisonment by government agents.
His delusion was that his considerable estate and more importantly his almost royally independent lifestyle would be suddenly destroyed when he was convicted of a drug-related crime. He believed that "agents" had been "watching him for a long time", that his communications were "bugged", and that they were moving in for capture.
Persons in the environment at the time of his death, including the professional advisers from whom he sought counseling for his increasingly anxious dilemma, confirmed that there was not a shred of material evidence that his man was being targeted in a 'sting' operation nor was he to anyone's knowledge materially involved in any type of crime, with drugs or anything other illegal activities. At least one adviser recognized his symptoms as suggesting a paranoid depression.
In a massive, panicked depression, after running from his illusory attackers for days, he finally took his life. The letters he left for family and friends say that suicide was his "only way out".
What happened?
Kharesha Guru in lagna
"occasionally you suffer from scandal and are wrongly accused of concealing things."
KHARA DREKAMSHA: The 22nd decanate from the ascendant will denote the nature of one's death. For example, by the nature of its lord, (i.e. the humor, place etc.)
~~ Saravali, Ch 47, shloka 22
Material Conditions of death:
Domain-4 = "the end of things"
Maraka Rahu for intense psychic disturbance in the home.
Maraka Shani for separation, resistance to corrective change, and psychological despair.
Maraka Kuja for metal, weapons and violent attack in the home.
Rahu causes great fear to men by means of epilepsy, smallpox, halter, flies, worms, ghosts, fiends and goblins, & also by leading to suicides by hanging, because of diseases resulting in want of appetite and leprosy."
~~ Jataka Parijata, Ch. 2, ln. 81
Unfortunately a plethora of malefics in domain-4 indicate no support from wise guidance of spirits or priestly death-transition rituals at the time of death. Indeed, quite the opposite.
The native took his life in his home, in a mechanical craft shop of his own design, where he did metal work with sharp tools. (Kuja-Vrischika). He hung from an overhead metal winch.
Ketu in Taurus (disconnection of the once-whole spirit-body cord, at the neck)
Ketu receives drishti of all three natural malefics: Shani, Kuja, and Rahu. Shani = also L-7.
Ketu in 4th navamsha, also suggests death at home, by hanging
lord of navamsha = Kuja = 4th radix in very malefic company also suggests violent death at home
Shukra = lord of Ketu
Normally, physical death occurs only during the Vimshottari bhuktis of L-2 or L-7; Rahu-Ketu giving the effect of their lord who is L-2 or L-7; or an extremely empowered natural maraka - Shani or Kuja.
However, when the Kharesha has extraordinary strength,
death can occur in the bhukti of L-8 (secrets) or 8th-from-8th, L-3 (mentality).
The Kharesha Guru rises in D-3, D-4, D-5, D-6, D-7, D-8, D-9 and D-30.
Guru occupies Magha, a nakshatra of Ketu.
Transit of Shani/Simha opposite Shani's enemy Rahu/Kumbha, contact the Kharesha and lagna, over a period of months, applying pressure to either Chandra or Lagna in many vargas:
D-3, D-4, D-5, D-6, D-7, D-10, D-12, D-16, D-24, D-27, and D-40.
Timing of death
Mahadasha of L-12 Chandra. = loss of identification with the physical body. Chandra occupies the 22nd drekamsha
Bhukti of uchcha Shukra, L-3 = self-inflicted death.
Shukra also occupies the 22nd drekamsha. Shukra greatly empowers his lord the Kharesha.
Gochara L-7 Shani and gochara Ketu enter the radix lagna,
contacting Kharesha Guru (Shani stationed at 10 deg Simha at time of death)
casting gochara L-7 Shani drishti upon Shukra's two domains: 3 and 10.
Note L-7 Shani's exceptional shadbala strength.
The native was a very hard worker who enjoyed intensely physical work projects.
Exact Timing:
The hour of death was caused by the transit of the bhukti-pati Shukra over the most sensitive physical-body point where the spirit is connected to the flesh by a fine silver cord: the exact degree of lagna.
gochara Shukra enters 0 deg exact Magha lagna, stationed exactly upon 0 deg of Magha at time of death. (Death within 12 hours of the ingress.)
gochara Chandra enters rashi of Shukra, contact Ketu, opposition natal Shani/Kuja/Rahu
gochara (lagnesha) Surya precise degree 7th-from-Shukra
Amplification of Rahu-Ketu:
gochara Ketu-Rahu crossing lagna
Ketu transit to natal L-8 Guru
Rahu transit to Guru's lord, natal L-1 Surya in domain-7 (Surya gains some weak maraka powers)
Gochara Ketu, lord of Magha lagna containing Guru, enters Simha (stationed at 11 deg at time of death)
Note: in general, gochara Rahu-Ketu will be affecting the D-1/D-9 lagnas or nodal axes at the time of death
The Chaturamsha for home, happiness, well-being, and emotional satisfaction, is especially badly affected by the Rahu-Ketu-Shani transits.
Note the Kharesha rising in Chaturamsha also, + maraka Kuja, receiving drishti of maraka Shani.
"When inauspicious planets occupy the 4th & the 10th bhavas or Trikona positions, and when the lord of the 8th bhava being in conjunction with Mars occupies the rising sign, astrologers say that the person concerned will commit suicide by hanging."
~~ Jataka Parijata, Ch. 5, ln. 106
When gochara makara Shani transits the bhava occupied by L-8 (or L-12) , Death can occurs.
Both gochara L-7 Shani, and Ketu who amplifies Shukra, were transiting across the radix lagna at time of death.
radix lagna = 1 deg Simha (Magha);
radix L-8 Guru = 4 deg. Simha (Magha) retrograde
Ketu = lord of Magha
At the time of death, gochara Ketu at 11 deg Simha; gochara Shani at 10 deg Simha
When Surya transits the rashi 7th-from-Shukra, Death occurs.
at time of death, gochara Surya at 13 deg. Kanya, precisely 7th from Shukra, 13 deg. Meena
Vimshottari Period of the death =
death occurred on 30-Sep-2007, PST; Chandra/Shukra/Shukra period
L-3 Shukra = the agent for Self-Inflicted Death, 2nd-from-2nd.
L-3/L10 Shukra, at 13 deg. Meena, occupies the 22nd decanate in house-8.
Shukra is lord of Ketu
Chandra = 22 deg. Meena
Chronology:
Oct 2006: Ketu-Rahu enter Simha-Kumbha. Ketu begins His 18-mo reverse progress through the native's radix lagna, which contains L-8 Guru. Native feels slightly uneasy for no apparent reason.
July 2007: Native entered the powerful bhukti of Uchcha Shukra, who occupies the 22nd decanate and empowers kharesha Chandra Native begins intense & powerful mental delusions of being hunted down & persecuted by government agents.
July 2007: gochara Shani enters Simha, rashi of the rising L-8 Guru. Deepening intense & powerful delusions of being hunted down & persecuted by government agents; native seeks legal aid..
August-Sep 2007: gochara Surya, Budha, Ketu, Shani, all moving through Simha, contacting L-8 Guru. This previously cheerful, intelligent, social, intellectual, wealthy native suddenly plunges into a state of uninterrupted severe depression accompanied by persecutory delusions of a clinically paranoid character. His family is deeply concerned. Native seeks counseling both legal and medical. Professionals are unable to assist him.
Sept 30, 2007: bhukti-pati Shukra enters the lagna, contacting L-8 while mahadasha pati Chandra transits Shukra's rashi opp. Shani and Surya transits precise 7th-from-Shukra. Death by hanging.
Supporting factors: Gochara graha:
mahadashapati Chandra had transited into house opposite natal Shani. This transit lasts only 2.5 days.
Das / Behari says of this brief but perhaps 'straw that broke the camel's back' transit:
"... a gloomy state of affairs tends to bring delays & disappointments & hinders the native's progress in all directions. One will be brood & look upon the dark side of things.
Afflicted health. Avoid depression & melancholia affecting health.
Trying time for financial affairs.
One should not trust too much on others. There may be a death in a family. A timid & fearful attitude be avoided; take a firm [view], resolute & positive actions. Melancholia, disharmony in romance & family life, heavy domestic responsibilities. Loneliness, low energy. Lack of love from others."
Occupying 22 degrees of Meena in Revati nakshatra, Chandra is associated with final endings, end of life cycle.
Suicide is a powerful karmic action which affects not only the abandoned friends & family of the native, but also plunges the native into a frightening after-death world, which one (normally) has not calmly and systematically prepared to enter..
What are the character markers of a personality which takes its own life?
One marker would be emotional detachment, and most likely atheism - inability to conceptualize the Divine.
Another would be badakha influences on the kendras, which shows the stability & structure of the character:
physical (domain-1)
emotional (domain-4)
psycho-social (domain-7)
spiritual (domain-10)
Another essential insight into the native's psycho-spiritual reality is the navamsha. In D-9 we see the higher or more subtle particulate matter of the native's character. The navamsha shows the native's spiritual sense of direction, empowerment, and entitlement.
The graha which is lord of navamsha, called Swamsha, is the single strongest indicator of spiritual coherence & trust in Divine direction.
The native's overall character was marked by extraordinary rationalism and emotional detachment. He was socially & sexually active, enjoying a series of monogamous partnerships since adolescence. His behavior in those partnerships showed singular disinterest in the emotional needs of the other. Native encouraged his partners to adopt his own detachment toward feelings & the world.
Marriage in Shukra/Shani period, altho Shani is not a lord of either navamsha lagna pole. Shani can be a marriage-maker for the native who feels an external social pressure to marry, such as age, dependent children, or legal requirement. In this case the native, though young at the time of marriage, he married a woman who needed legal papers, thus invoking law-driven Shani as a marriage maker.
The marriage, though sincere, was childless and relatively brief.
Divorce as expected, under L-8 Guru.
A brief examination of the radix domains:
Lagna
Auspicious implications for Guru in Simha lagna include wealth, health, large body size, and wisdom. Native was a strong, friendly, healthy man from a wealthy, healthy family. Shani drishti to lagna gives a solid work ethic. This man was a skilled & dedicated home-building craftsman who was capable of dauntingly hard physical work. He valued the independence which skilled craft provided him, and he served as a mentor to many younger artisans.
L5/L-8 in lagna gives mixed results. L5 Guru in a friendly sign provides enormous entitlement & creativity.
Das / Behari says, Protection from ill health and ill luck. You become learned and acquire wisdom; you even attain a high status in life. But occasionally you suffer from scandal & are wrongly accused of concealing things. You should be careful of urinary tract infections.
L-8 is however problematic. This native was extremely sensitive to turnings of the wheel of birth & death, & a seeker of tantrik knowledge. One of his tantrik inquiries was poorly guided, & he left this world on that account.
2
Maraka L-2/L-11 Budha was not the bhukti-pati at time of death. This premature death was caused by the kharesha (lord of 22nd drekamsha) and a fatal transit of Shani. However the qualities of L-2 provide insight into the native's life condition:
Das / Behari says, You may be insensitive to the feelings of others, will suffer from diseases of the hands & feet & will incur the enmity of many due to the spoken & written word. Your virility will be greatly reduced & you will have financial difficulties.
Note L-7 Shani is lord of L-2 Budha. We look to Shani for more substantial information about this death.
3
L-3 gives important information about the native's mental health - an essential item in trying to understand a tragic suicide. L-3/L-10 Shukra is a powerfully exalted graha, yuti L-12 Chandra in domain-8 - a major dusthana collection! This native was a skilled artisan & designer with many connections in the arts community. Exalted L-3 shows his quite substantial self-made wealth.
But L-3 in house-8 is not entirely auspicious. It attracts the native into tantrik practices for which he may lack proper guidance.
4
L-4 and the total condition of domain-4 are the strongest indicators of the native's overall happiness & emotional grounding in this life. Clearly this man was in trouble in the emotional groundedness department.
L-4/L-9 Kuja is a yogakaraka for Simha rising. Indeed the native was greatly successful as a home builder and renovations expert. Nevertheless on a personal level, 3 heavy malefics in the domain of the childhood home, along with Chandra in domain-8, suggest deep guilt and trouble in the relationship with an unhappy, controlling mother.
Domain-4 shows how comfortable the native feels within his own birth/upbringing family, and what challenges one may face in trying to repair early damage. This native suffered deep inner depressions and much cold, repressed conflict with his successful but unloving parents. He was very detached emotionally. However he practiced hatha yoga quite dutifully over the years.
Das / Behari says, You may easily succeed in disciplines geared to mastering yoga or other sources of higher power. You have perseverance as well as intensity, and a detachment amounting almost to cruelty. You do not enjoy a happy family life; the relationship with your mother is not fulfilling, your marital life is difficult, and your career very much obscured. Neither do you enjoy good health.
5
L-5/L-8 Guru is highly auspicious, casting drishti upon swakshetra domain-5. The native battled his instinct to reproduce for his entire life, ultimately deciding not to have children because he did not want to duplicate the unfavorable conditions of his own home life.
6
Das / Behari says, You may easily succeed in disciplines geared to mastering yoga or other sources of higher power. You have perseverance as well as intensity, and a detachment amounting almost to cruelty. You do not enjoy a happy family life; the relationship with your mother is not fulfilling, your marital life is difficult, and your career very much obscured. Neither do you enjoy good health.
7
Das / Behari says, Surya/Kumbha/7: You may have a have strained relationship with your spouse and may have many health hazards. Your spouse is subservient to you, who are very domineering. The death of the spouse often occurs during your lifetime, for the general health of the marriage partner is poor, subject to various constitutional ailments.
Surya, karaka of the Soul, is poorly disposed in Kumbha despite the drishti from Guru. No good ever comes of Ravi in Kumbha.
This native was a career atheist who substituted human touch, friendship, and rational thought for the healing awareness of the Divine. He had a lot of trouble connecting with other people on a deep level. While those around him, often spiritually advanced persons, reveled in divine awareness, the native self-limited connection to avenues that he could rationally explain & control: human friendship, natural beauty, art & design.
Drishti from Guru & Kuja upon kalatra bhava. This native was not depraved in relationships. However he consistently chose female partners from financially, intellectually, & culturally inferior ranks. His most intimate male friends were also deeply wounded persons with social impediments. Thus he was able to significantly dominate his partners, while also being sincerely generous & protective. Note the Kuja Dosha, making marriage quite difficult.
8
Marana karaka
Chandrastama Moon in domain-8, is a highly inauspicious situation which adversely affects the Mind. Native becomes overly identified with the 10% physical vehicle and suffers psycho-emotional alienation from the spiritual perceptions.
Delves into tantrik explorations from emotional motives without the proper guidance, unsupervised. Bad results from this impulsive lack of proper direction. Moon becomes a marana karaka capable of causing death under the proper circumstances. As seen above, the proper circumstances congealed in Sept. 2007.
Das / Behari says, Moon in the 8th house harms the mental composure. The past is brought to the surface. Defects in character, ailments, and adversaries appear in the forefront and you find you have to deal with these.
Death in a public place, by drowning, ship wreck, road accident, public calamity. Separation from family members due to spouses influence in some way. Suffers from different acute and chronic ailments. Takes varied treatment from several doctors, who flock to your house and prescribe strange medicines.
Constant fear of curable and incurable diseases. Eighth house indicates death, legacies, interest in occult science, and diseases of the secret parts and generative system. Moon in the eighth house causes fear of chronic diseases and strong enemies e.g. government, thieves, etc.
Dependent on doctors and their medicines. Intelligent, splendorous, and will suffer from diseases. May suffer from the severest of diseases and will be attended to by many doctors. Poverty may come, but quite intelligent, learned. The eyes may suffer. Epilepsy is a possibility. You will not have firm livelihood and will be wandering. Conjugal happiness suffers.
9
L-9 Kuja is strong, healing, sexual & mystical but much compromised in swakshetra with unfriendly company of Shani & Rahu. The father was a locally prominent priestly figure with moral authority to uphold the law of the land (L-9 in 4). Native was a lifetime atheist with numerous confrontations/pronounced dislike of false gurus. Very concerned with Earth sustainable farming, land mgt.
Traditionally in Jyotisha is the roots are damaged then the plant will not prosper. Damaged roots in the family home indicate a struggle for control between the parents, in an environment of wealth and intensely mystical perception. Complex and difficult early childhood.
10
Career in fine arts due to uchcha Shukra L-10. However the native shies from power positions, title, etc. due to Shukra. Career is exceptionally gainful again due to Uccha Shukra in 11th from 10th.
