Emphysema, Assisted Suicide, Death in State of Meditation

Death in the period of Ketu

This beautiful soul died peacefully in company of her Buddhist death guides. Western age = 71.

Skillful spiritual friends performed a night-long puja for her, as her spirit departed the physical plane, in the early morning hours of November 8, 2000.

She had lived as a talented, adventurous artist who also ran a successful art-gallery business for many years. Her generosity, taste, and romances were legendary.

Her bohemian lifestyle in the center of the international art world included, of course, lots of smoking.  However, looking back on the lifestyle choices which ultimately destroyed her body in a very painful way, she was able to say in full honesty that she did not regret a minute of it!

This is very interesting death case because it is a medically assisted suicide which occurred in a state of deep meditation & prayer of the nuns surrounding the deceased.

During the long mahadasha of L-9/L-10 yogakaraka Shani, the native owned a very successful international art business and became increasingly committed to a Vajrayana Buddhist meditation tradition.  She undertook numerous study sessions, intensive trainings, and pilgrimages. The final months of her life were spent "practicing death". Her mental clarity was very strong.

The expected maraka planet is L-2 Budha.  Native was suffering extreme pain and throughout the period Budha/Budha, she hoped and expected to be permitted to leave her body.

Although she was medically diagnosed as terminally ill with emphysema and her physicians did not expect her to live more than a few weeks without life support, some inner force kept her going past the end of Budha/Budha period.

A compassionate physician within her circle of religious practitioners, who understood the patient to be in clear mind, provided natural herbs which reduced her pain and hastened her departure.

Although her death experience provided plenty of fear & excruciating pain, all involved understood her transition to be highly "successful" in spiritual terms.  In tribute to mental-clarity Budha & pure-meditation Ketu,  the native chose clarity over comfort in her final days -- avoiding painkilling drugs (which were easily available to her) due to their numbing, mentally dulling effects.

Thus in spite of choking to death through emphysema, she received valuable spiritual teachings in clear mind up to the last moment.

  • L-7 Kuja in house-2 of breathing & lungs, gives death by choking.

Onset of noticeable emphysema occurred in the first Shani/budha period, in her early fifties.  At that time native could perceive the approach of death.  She took to Buddhist practice with enthusiasm.

Native reported Budha/Budha period 1998-1999 was an "annus horribilus" bringing her a broken hip, broken neck, and major body damage throughout. We might have expected Budha to be the effective killer.

But, interestingly, it is Ketu, who is a very powerful maraka giving the effect of L-7 Kuja, who finishes the job.

This native may have waited for the double-maraka period of L-2/L-7 specifically because of the positive spiritual implications of Shri Ketu.

Rahu/Ketu in major events like marriage and death

Gochara Rahu/Ketu had entered Gemini/Sagittarius, crossing the D-9 axis.

This nodal movement does not only signify physical death but also many other types of major psychic shift.
