Death

Ovarian Cancer

This artistically gifted, intuitive, and well educated businesswoman died of ovarian cancerat age forty-nine.

She struggled courageously with her disease for several years, attempting a variety of material cures, some very expensive and exotic, before succumbing to death against her will.

She was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in the early days of Budha's mahadasha, early 1998. Although she experienced several periods of remission, Budha's proximity to severe maraka Shukra (within one degree) plus His illness-causing sixth lordship would guarantee a terminal condition.

  • Budha/Shukra/Budha
May, 2003: in a state of advanced pain, anger, bitterness, and frustration - yet surrounded by very loving attendants.

L3-L6 Mercury, immediately conjunct the maraka 2nd-and-7th lord Shukra, is a tremendous maraka bringing a prolonged illness, and mental misery.

On the day of death, bothgochara Budhaandgochara Shukracrossed theexact degree of herradix janma lagna.

Note also these two marakas, together at birth, and causing the native 's death, simultaneously moved through the navamsha's maraka 7th house, showing the husband's experience of the death of his wife.

"Mercury, when malefic, works much misery by producing wind imperceptibly in the regions of the privities and the stomach, by bringing of leprosy, indigestion, colic, diarrhea and other diseases, and also through the instrumentality of spirits, the devoted servants of Vishnu of whom the leader is called Buddha."

~~Jataka Parijata, Ch. 2, Shloka 78

Surrounded as she was by many loving friends and family -- who were perhaps better able to accept the injustice of a death she did not want -- we can also acknowledge Mercury's auspicious occupancy of dharma sthana, and His beneficial relationship to L5 Surya, significator of the soul.

Both Mercury and Venus occupy 22 degrees of dharma sthana, in the dwadamsha of "yogic practices".

Although angry with abusive relatives and suffering waves of excruciating pain, this dying woman nevertheless received an exceptionally high level of religious and spiritual guidance as she worked toward the final breath.

She died with head pointed upward, an auspicious state in which the spirit moves comfortably outward, through the crown chakra.

Many elaborate Buddhist religious ceremonies were performed for her in the days following her physical death.

Due to Shani, who was gochara the 3rd-house of mental health at time of death, she may not have been entirely at peace in the time of passage. However she was blessed by a tremendous outpouring of unconditional love and support which no doubt smoothed her journey to the other side.

No matter how materially troublesome, a 9th-house planet will have good spiritual results!

Conditions of death Are found in the details of bhava-8.

As the maraka pair Budha/Shukra transited the rashi lagna, they simultaneously cast a ray up on L-8 Mangala, in the maraka 7th - "ripening" the conditions suitable for physical death.

Physical conditions of death =

  • bhava-8 = Vrischikha = sexual-reproductive system
  • L-8 Mangala sharing maraka bhava-7 with Soma's dispositor, Shani.
Emotional conditions of death =

  • L-8 Kujais naturally argumentative. His placement yuti Shani in the maraka 7th house foreshadows anger and resistance at time of death.
  • Shani's hierarchical excellence in exaltationbrings highly trained death managers and Guru's drishti to randhra bhava infuses the death scene with compassion and wisdom.
  • Native experienced a great deal of personal anger and body pain [lagnesha Mars] but the supporting planets - Shani and Guru - brought much stability and spiritual benefit to the overall death situation.

Chandra is quite weak in Kumbha, where He rationalizes and argues instead of intuiting and accepting.

Thus the body's own healing systems, ruled by the Moon, are compromised naturally - giving no real challenge to a deadly disease, during the era of the disease-giving 6th lord.

here is long-lasting frustration with the inevitability of the turning of the cycle of birth and death caused by Moon's inability to relax and accept. Soma-Kumbha is a scientist's Moon, always looking for an abstract, conceptual solution to the problem. Unable to simply accept the problem.

Emotionally, this death (and its immediate after-effects) was quite troublesome for the native .

Chandra's lord Shani in 9th-from-Moon, and uchcha, is highly auspicious.

the native received a remarkably high level of spiritual support throughout her illness and death. She had the money and the social connections to provide access some remarkable teachers and healers along the way.

Buddhas and Bodhisattva's were tangibly present to many at the time of her passing. In spite of herself, she received a powerful psycho-spiritual education in the process of fighting with death.

All of these efforts will pay rich rewards in her next life. Subsequent life can be read using the current life's dhana bhava as janma lagna.
