Gem Recommendation =

Nativity of Herbert Hoover

1. Surya = lord of lagna and L-8 from Chandra. In Simha rashi yuti Mangala; in 8th-from-Chandra; receiving  Parashari drishti of Rahu.  Naturally a regal and warriorlike character with tremendous personal charisma. Surya in 1 gives one enormous will-power and self-concern.  Ravi rules the auspicious first bhava and no other bhava. Therefore Ruby = Ravi-ratna = is recommended.

2. Chandra = lord of  dusthamsha vyaya bhava, occupying domain-6 Makara.  Incoming Parashari drishti of  Shani and Budha. L-12 Chandra here is a trouble-maker despite his parivartamsha strength acquired from exchange of rashi as well as mutual aspect with Shani. Chandra overworks the mother and gives an emotional proclivity to disregard the marriage vow. Women in general are troublesome. Since Chandra does not rule any other beneficial house, He should not be strengthened with a gem.   A moti (Vedic pearl) not recommended.

3. Mangala = lord of navamsha, yogakaraka L-4/L-9 from Simha lagna and  L-4/L-11 from Makara Chandra. Mangala is an auspicious and gainful graha as measured from both radix lagna and Chandra lagna.   Kuja  contributes positive energy toward the native's military education, father and religious ceremonies, and one's earnings and expansion of the social network.  Flawless Red Coral is well recommended.

4. Budha = L-2/L-11 from the Simha lagna and L-6/L-9 from Makara Chandra.  Budha in domain-12 + Shani is a harsh, conservative ,and shrewd communicator. The mind is highly energized and emotionally overloaded by the Chandra-Budha opposition and parivartamsha between Shani-Chandra only increases the Chandra-Budha mental-emotional merge. The native possesses a tremendous imagination which is not a bad thing, but it will take much consciousness to prevent the imagination from overwhelming the pragmatic skills. Budha does not rule a trine from lagna therefore the Kumara should not be strengthened.  The Budha-strengthening emerald is not recommended.

5. Guru = atmakaraka lord of 5 and 8 from Simha lagna; 3 and 12 from Makara Chandra. Guru, a natural benefic, will give favorable results for creative intelligence and claiming the Divine Right of Kings in His periods, but Guru will also increase the amount of clandestine activity in public and personal life.  The Pukhraj (yellow sapphire) is advised to wear only during Vimshottari periods of Brihaspati.

6. Shukra =  lord of 3 and 10 from Simha lagna; 5 and 10 from Makara Chandra. In 6th-from-Chandra with Ketu, receiving drishti of Rahu and Guru. Shukra is a complex and busy graha.  As "double-L-10" Shukra will give public respect and leadership roles in Shukra's periods. However, because Shukra does not rule a kona from lagna, the  Shukra-ratna , white sapphire  is not recommended.

7. Shani = L-6 and L-7 from Simha lagna; L-1 and L-2 from Makara Chandra.   It is never recommended for Simha lagna to wear the Blue Sapphire for Shani. Nevertheless, as lord of Chandra, Shani may improve the psycho-emotional intuition during Vimshottari periods of Shanaicharya.

 8. Rahu = Rahu in domain-5 and in the navamsha lagna with uchcha Surya, who gives the effect of the L-5/L-8 Guru, can be strengthened with good results for royal conquest and empowerment. Gomedha is recommended.

9. Ketu = Ketu in domain-11 who gives the effect of L-2/L-11 Budha should not be strengthened. Ketu will bring gains of wealth during His periods, but the Vaidurya ratna is not recommended.

In conclusion,   the gem recommendations are:

  1. Manika Ruby = yes

  2. Moti Pearl = no

  3. Mangala Ratna (moonga) = yes

  4. Emerald (panna) for Budha  = no

  5. Yellow Sapphire (pukhraj) for Guru = yes, during Guru periods

  6. Diamond (Hira) for Shukra = no

  7. Blue Sapphire (Neelam) for Shani = categorically no for Simha lagna

  8. Hessonite quartz or Orange Zircon (Gomedha) for Rahu = yes.

  9. Cats eye, chrysoberyl (Vaidurya) for Ketu = no

For all remedial gemstones, be sure to cleanse the stone energetically with extreme attention to proper mantra.

Flawless gems are expensive and hard to find. Use only a trusted Vedic-trained gemologist. It might be easiest to start with single gem and combine them as your finances allow.

According to Dr. G.S. Kapoor (1994, p 91) " It is very important for all gem stones that before wearing them they should be kept immersed for sometime in unboiled milk or Ganges water. Afterwards the stones should be worshipped with flowers and incense, and the Mantras of the planets should be recited 108 times."
