Surya-6 = at the center of conflict: Central, radiant, attention-getting roles in war, accusations, argumentation, medicine, health treatments, poverty, pollution, divorce, exploitation, mother's relatives, ministries of service
Surya in a swabhava of Ravi's neutral Budha radiates detailed, descriptive, mentalized (Budha) personal charisma (Surya)in the ministerial service agencies of
creative, center-stage behaviors in roles such as:
The universe seems to revolve around oneself when the native occupies the dramatic center of : core "problematics" in human life:
Whether more specialized toward medicine, loan-making, litigation or other types of exploitation depends upon rashi, drishti, and co-tenants of bhava-6.
Surya in Ari Bhava is a tricky position. Because graha in 6 have the karmic character of needing to engage in logical argumentation, litigation, accusations, and unresolvable "problematics", Surya-6 requires maturity and self-knowledge.
With sufficient awareness of the impact which one's decisions and actions do have upon others, the native is well placed to serve. Most commentators opine that Surya in 6 is a good placement. However it is essential to curb the classic solipsism of any Surya placement; else one may incur resentment for ego inflation. For example,
One finds a central position in the drama of service-based behaviors, matters of medicines, illness, military policing and war (General George Patton), exploitation, poverty and loans, argumentation, divorce, litigation, pollution, toxicity, disagreement, corruption, bribery, financial scandal. Opportunistic, unsentimental; may confidently exploit others for personal gain. Malefic graha in dushthamsha have material benefits because they energize an interior narrative that argues for "problematicity" in the lives of victims. One is aware (Surya, light) of the self-exploiting expectations of the victim-mind; one wastes no time in sentimental fantasies. Must be cautious of a tendency to dehumanize the labor of others, and some proclivity to view people as inhuman objects or calculable resources. Of course each native will have plenty more graha in operation, so having Ravi in Bhava-6 is not the kiss of death or even a sign of involvement in crime. Rather, the native 's intimacy with the divine is at a low ebb. They do not believe in prayer, except as a show of social conformity. Surya here rarely leads to real infamy, but the native acquires enemies through their gross selfishness and materialism. Aids wealth and wins lawsuits. If in a friendly Rashi and in good planetary company, Surya in bhava-06 = an ethical and respected medical doctor, esp. the charismatic central personality of a medical practice. Capable of handling emotionally painful or horrifying material because one is quite detached from it. Can be a gifted researchers of animal behaviors or human emotions; but if neutrality is excessive, can be dehumanizing and cruel. Dignified malefics in Roga bhava are always good indicators of success in the clinical medical profession, with patients drawn from amongst all social classes but particularly the 'victim class' and the poor.

Depends largely on Ravi's house lordship. the native is predisposed to be exploited by males. May be pressed into service by husband, father, uncle, or grandfather. Unfortunate for the health of father, brothers, uncles, male teachers. Cramps and the native 's own good fortune. Ego-identification with conflict, with problems, with arguments, with illness, with imbalances of all kinds. Self-righteously aggrieved. Beneficial for career in health sciences or bank loans. Good for military, medicine, criminal law, work in clerical and human services professions. One may feel victimized or wronged by the father or father-figure, by the male line in one's family, by moral authorities, by male servants, by the heart and spine in the physical body, by the right eye, or by ethical principles misapplied. Tendency to misappropriate or steal items related to games, creative endeavors, glamorous or special-event costumes and other theatrical implements. May mis-spend speculative profits. Pittaroga Yoga, #279 - B. V. Raman 300 Important Combinations
Some tendency toward petty thievery due to bhava-6 = loss of social agreement. Surya may steal (often inadvertently or unintentionally) items for theatrical performance (settings, costumes); political items, demonstrations of individual genius and creativity, gamesand game-pieces, royal items. |

| Father |
Surya in dushthamsha (6, 8, 12) = unfortunate for the father, making him argumentative or confrontational by character and prone to blaming others for his own faults. The father may be ill or be a physician, be indebted or be a loan-maker, be a victim of war or be a military officer.
Father may be employed in the professional military (6), and if Surya is well placed his career in matters of war and conflict may be successful. For a female, the men in her life primarily father but also husband and brothers, also male coworkers and boss, pick up some of the adversarial, warlike, inability to accept terms of contract or remain in a state of trust in relationships due to ego imbalance. Exceptions which give good results for the father:

Surya in Bhava 6 |
Malefic Surya thrives in dushthamsha 6, 8, and 12 so long as the identity participates in crime, war, medicine, conflict, accusations, pollution, exploitation (6) disasters and hidden resources (8) or sanctuary, prison, loss of identity (12). Surya is also fairly well disposed in upachaya Bhava 3, 6, and 11 - again so long as the overall nativity supports one taking a central role in business administration or writing (3) imbalances (6) or networking (11). Surya contributes to ego-ization and romanticization of one's own central role in regard to the conflicts and confrontations inherent in bhava-6. While the mother's siblings may be problematic, Ravi-6 benefits the dramatization of social and physical chaos. Splendid location for medical doctors, pharmacists, health care practitioners, social workers, and scientists dealing with pollution or crime. The chronic social complaints - crime, disease, hatred, jealousy, poverty - may not disappear in the life of the native. Still, Surya-6 has an intelligent, charmingly dramatic approach to these perpetual evils. Such earnest charisma often leads to a good career in medicine, criminal law, social work, military officer, or loan banking. |

"When the Sun is in the house of diseases, joined and aspected by malefics,
due to excitement or pitta or bile." |

| Das / Behari commentary re: Surya in satkona |
From an ordinary point of view, this may seem to be a destruction of physical and social barriers. But this placement enables you to achieve victory over enemies, a successful termination of litigation and disputes, and effective solutions to financial difficulties.
With this combination, a very enigmatic situation arises: people at large express tremendous goodwill and sympathy for you, but they cannot establish empathy.
The 6th house is both for friends and enemies, health and sickness, attachment and hatred, maternal relatives, cousins, servants and inferiors. Its results are full of opposites - sharpness of the opposites is felt according to the influence of the planet, its association, conjunction, or as aspected.
But it also indicates troubles for the maternal uncle and his family. Animals like cows and buffaloes cause great loss, sometimes financially also. Danger to life from sharp-horned animals. During travel, you may be attacked by tribals or robbed by thieves. You are strong, happy, rich and are respected in society.
You will be very libidinous, have powerful digestive fire (i.e. capable of digesting fast), affluent, famous for virtues and be an army chief. Financial success, disease of the eyes in the 20th year, happiness, affectionate disposition etc., will follow. You will spend money to save others from legal punishments or spend for friends in general. There will be troubles for the mother's family (i.e. maternal uncle and other such relatives). You may be subjected to danger from quadrupeds or loss on account of thefts.
You may suffer breakage of teeth by wood or by stone or incur pains in legs and your end may come through poison, weapon, thirst, hunger, enemies or vices." |

Remarks: "According to Ayurveda, the entire psychological activities of the body are controlled and brought about by three important forces or basic factors called Thridoshas. The y are Vatha (wind), Pitta (bile) and Sleshma (phlegm). [BPL note: phlegm factor also called "Kapha"]
I would refer the reader to standard works on Ayurveda for greater details. The Sun's position in the 6th by itself is good. When the Sun is in the house of diseases, joined and aspected by malefics, the native 's health will not be good and he will always suffer from one complaint or the other due to excitement or pitta or bile." |
