Breast Cancer & Recovery; Angioplasty

This working mother of two grown children was diagnosed with advanced breast cancer in her mid-fifties.
She chose chemo-therapy & a mastectomy in 1999.
She was scared, but her life-sustaining recovery has been successful.
She gained a spiritual appreciation for the beauty of life and a deeper love for her family in the process.
The disease process, as frightening as it is, has created an unprecedented spiritual emergence for her. Note mahadasha is Rahu, who is responsible for the greatest traumas, the greatest transformations, and the greatest psycho-spiritual development in this life.
Side-effects of the breast cancer treatment process she chose included permanent lymph-edema. Note Saturn in Cancer in rashi 12, Cancer rules lymph.
In addition, after noticing substantial plaque blockage in the heart, she underwent a successful angioplasty in 2001. Note Sun ruler of Leo (sign of the heart) in maraka house-2 receiving aspect from material-plane controller Saturn. It is likely that the stress of chemotherapy, profound worry, and mastectomy during Saturn's dasha helped physically congest her already emotionally-overwrought heart.
However, because she has a good yoga for longevity, the prognosis for her complete recovery is excellent.

Which Planets suggest Cancer and/or Heart Disease?
Venus/Ketu in Scorpio in the 4th house, plus Saturn in Cancer
...give general propensity toward disturbances of breast and heart. Both 4th house and the sign of vedic Cancer indicate the 4th chakra (maha-marma) region. Venus who draws in love to the person is unhappy in enemy's sign Scorpio, in a "dead state" of zero degrees in a female sign [Raman ayanamsha], with 4th lord in the draining 12th from its own sign, and disturbed by Ketu. Illness of the immune system, cardiac illness, lymph illness, and other 4th-chakra based illness can be attributed psychically to not getting enough love. There may be plenty of sex but there is not enough love.
Venus and Mars do have pari-vartan or exchange of signs, which strengthens them both. In material matters this woman has many benefits of a "virtual" Venus in Libra/4 such as a beautiful home richly decorated. Also Mars (a career planet) has some "virtual" Scorpio/3 attributes such as her successful career in writing about confidential criminal matters. But psycho-emotionally, Venus is "locked in" to Scorpio attributes by the overwhelming power of Rahu/Ketu.

This woman is extremely sensitive both psychically and emotionally, but she is so filled with emotional turmoil that it is difficult for her to articulate her true feelings. She has a powerful tendency to take things personally, to develop longings and infatuations, and to stew on perceived insults for a long time. She is terrified of emotional rejection. She is also a very sexual person also who has had limited opportunity to express her deepest sexual feelings. She underwent an emotionally & sexually invalidating divorce early in Rahu's mahadasha. Note her nodes totally control helpless, zero-degrees Venus. Therefore since onset of Rahu mahadasha, a psychic implosion in the love center of the body (4th chakra) has taken place since.
Dasha/bhukti of natural maraka Rahu/Saturn
At the time of advanced breast cancer diagnosis, chemotherapy, & mastectomy, native had entered dasha/bhukti of two notorious natural maraka planets, Rahu and Saturn. Rahu/Saturn is a famously difficult life period regardless of where Rahu and Saturn affect the chart. The malefic nature of these two bad boys is strong enough to cause major trouble for almost everyone during their joint Mahadasha-bhukti pati periods - even if natal Rahu or Saturn occupies a "good" position in the rashi.
However Saturn will obviously be a major trouble maker here as He is a maraka 7th Lord. Furthermore, He occupies Cancer, sign of the breasts, in the 12th house of hospitals and effects of the subconscious.
Dasha/bhukti of temporal maraka Rahu/Mercury
This courageous woman's angioplasty - a much less traumatic procedure for her than mastectomy - occurred in 2001, during Rahu/Mercury. Being a highly intelligent woman (note exalted but weak Mercury in the last degree and final seconds of Virgo) she was very reluctant to undergo the angioplasty because her research revealed that deeper heart disease is often detected during an angioplasty attempt. Also with Saturn in the rashi-12th she is terrified of hospitals. However at the insistent urging of her physician, friends, family, and astrologer, she finally agreed to undergo the procedure on an outpatient basis.
Because Mercury as second lord is a temporal maraka too it appears that the angioplasty did address a potentially fatal condition. At the time of this writing her Mercury bhukti will endure for another year into the future... so she is advised to eat very clean foods, relax the mind, release fear, and pay very close attention to her body-mind health for the next year at least.
Mars provides a challenging final bhukti to Rahu mahadasha
Mahadasha pati Rahu is owned and aspected by her troubled Venus/Scorpio, bringing matters of emotional & social security, love, home, protection, safety, deepest inner truth and the "end of matters" into Rahu's portfolio. Her struggle for love and emotional security in this life takes a great toll on the areas of the physical body directed by the 4th maha-marma, or heart-center.
The worst bhukti of Rahu mahadasha is created by any planet which occupies six houses from Rahu in the rashi. In her rashi, both Jupiter and Mars are six houses from Rahu.
She passed the Rahu/Jupiter period some years ago with plenty of emotional problems, but no obvious health problems except the over-eating we would expect from Rahu's desire combined with Jupiter's expansion.
Most notable problems in her life at that time will amuse astrologers. According to Jupiter's role as 5th/8th lord it will be amusing to see that emotional stress emerged primarily from the child's choice of a taboo sexual lifestyle :)
Jupiter also occupies 6th from Rahu in navamsha, but in both D1 and D9 Jupiter rules a trine house (in D9 He is 9th lord in the 9th!) so his temporal maraka status is weak indeed.
Natural maraka Mars is more suspicious. Being 6th from mahadasha pati Rahu & a natural maraka - albeit a yogakaraka [ruler of two good houses, 4 & 9 ] planet for Leo rising -- lord of the 8th navamsha -- and lord of the final bhukti of a long and stressful mahadasha -- Mars may cause considerably more stress and worry in the health department. Since He controls the sexual/reproductive system (Scorpio) and the brain/head (Aries) problems in those two areas should be expected. Since Scorpio is more powerful due to Mars's parivartan with Venus, a hysterectomy or imbalance in the sexual-reproductive system is worth looking out for.
Prognosis
She has a good yoga for longevity. Rahu/10 is not such a strong killer, rather Rahu is a trouble-maker determined to uplift spiritual consciousness through whatever means necessary! Diligent medical awareness should give her reasonable health, providing access to the next bhukti - a pleasant 16 years of 5/8 lord Jupiter mahadasha.
