trimashamsha trimshans D30 for misfortunes and difficulties in life

This highly intelligent and sensitive parent, teacher, & businesswoman  was stricken with severe breast cancer in mid-life.

Rigorous treatment involved heavy drugs and multiple surgeries, including extensive reconstruction.

In addition, a stressful divorce & mid-life career change put multiple pressures on her healing process.

The mother of two young children, she has survived intense and not always promising therapy, emerging into recovery somewhat weakened -- but clearly looking forward to a calmer life.

helt7_shadbala.gifMutual aspects of L-8/9 Shani with L-6/11 Kuja

From a Jyotisha perspective, this person is an exceptionally hard & dutiful worker.

See BOTH the notable strength of L-6 Kuja AND massive weight of super-responsible L-8 Shani in shad-bala.

Due to their unusual and mutual power in this native's chart, we might expect periods of Shani and Kuja to produce strong karma from expensive and painful surgeries .  When Shani and Kuja are both strong in shad bala, Behari says: "You may undergo troubles from debts, cuts and wounds."

Kuja and Shani mutually aspect each other - creating a personality that works very hard but is often frustrated.

Das says that when Mars in Virgo is aspected by Shani:

Although you try to apply your energy in a very serious way to something, it seems like you can't quite give enough. No matter how hard you try to be intelligent and directed it often feels like it didn't quite hit the mark.

Das says when Shani in Sagittarius is aspected by Kuja:

You may suffer from diseases such as rheumatism or gout. Your actions are questionable and impulsive; envious of other people; notorious; criticized.

Her Difficult Kuja

The intense animosity-and-disease trauma she experienced in mid-life powerfully illuminates the karmic influence of a very difficult Kuja

First of all, in any chart, Lord Mangala will rule :

  • Mithuna-lagna Kuja = house-6 of enemies/disease/imbalance

  • Mithuna-lagna Kuja =  house-11 of gains/friendships/associations

  • very importantly, Kuja also rules navamsha-7, signifying the spouse

When Mars mahadasha occurs for the Mithuna-lagna native, we expect to see an increase in both animosity/disease & achievement, articulated through each of the nine bhukti planets in sequence, for the 7-year duration of Mangala-mahadasha.

The best-case scenario for Kuja is that He should occupy his own signs of Mesha [the ram] or Vrischikha [the scorpion] or his exaltation sign of Makara [the crocodile].  If Mangala occupies these good signs, the Mithuna-lagna person will have stronger enemies but also stronger achievement.

If house-6 receives benefic aspects, the enemies may be surprisingly helpful in the end.  If house-11 receives benefic aspects, one's goal-achievements will be very high.

But even when neither house 6 nor house 11 are improved by benefic aspects, Mars in his own or exaltation signs will boost the native's productive energy. (In the worst case the native will hyper-produce lots of trouble for himself!)

For this native Kuja occupies Kanya, where He acquires some inauspicious qualities.

Kanya-Kuja characteristically outputs anger via mental and verbal channels rather than via muscular action. Controlled by Kanya's lord Budha, Kuja here articulates conflict through language, verbal argument, and rationalization.  Anger and other negative emotions like resentment will tend to remain in the physical body, where they can be held unconsciously in storage containers such as tumors.

Consider the qualities of radix Kuja:

  • occupying Kanya, an intellectual sign difficult for physical Mars

  • occupying house-4, which agitates the home life, stimulating arguments in the home

  • drishti from house-4 makes the person hyper-critical of spouse/colleagues [4th aspect], boss [7th aspect], and older siblings/friends [11th aspect]

  • drishti onto yuvati bhava creates the aggressive marriage-imbalance known as kuja dosha

  • strong in shad-bala (above)

  • greatly amplified by Rahu/Ketu

  • in mutual aspect with his Great Enemy Shani,

  • last but not least, Kuja as L-11 creates networks of friendship & marketplace association.  Native has built a remarkable support network of fellow breast cancer survivors, and enjoys their company greatly.

Trimshamsha D-30: power of Mars

Lord of the Trimshamsha is Budha, who occupies a sign of Mars in the D-30.

Lord of D-20 is a major troublemaker!

The native's significantly advanced breast cancer was detected in Kuja/Budha period.

When Kuja is lord of the vimshottari period, Kuja also activates His houses in each divisional chart.

By activating the signs of Aries & Scorpio in each of the varga charts, the mahadasha of Mars will activate her entire Trimshamsha, the special varga for misfortunes.

(However, the fact that Mangala activates the lord of the Trimshamsha is not in itself determinative.  Varga patterns are only useful in coordination with rashi/navamsha readings, used as confirmation and support for judgments on the power of D-1 / D-9 planets.)

Guru encourages disease:

Mahadasha of Mangala activates occupants of Mesha and Vrischikha in all vargas.  Consider Guru in D-1 and Budha/Rahu in D-9.

Although Guru expands the influence of the house which He occupies, Guru's benefits are generally lost (or much reduced) when He occupies dushthamsha houses 6,8, and 12.  Therefore when Guru occupies Ripu-bhava, matters of animosity, disease, & debt are more influential in the lifetime.

When Guru occupies Vrischikha (Scorpio) the sexual-reproductive system with all its ducts & glands is a natural magnet for the angry feelings of life.

Guru continues to cast His healing, optimistic drishti onto the houses 5th, 7th, and 9th from Himself.  However, He will also expand the troublesome activities the dushthamsha He occupies.

A central activity of the 6th house is food diet.  Guru in Ripu-bhava encourages the individual toward excessive or irregular eating habits.  This issue is probably exaggerated by the Shani-Mangala mutual aspect which drives her to suppress relaxation in favor of productivity.  Her exceptionally hard-working Shani-Mangala nature, the self-critical Mars greatly amplified by Rahu, and her powerful public image - the Leo Sun - overwhelm the weak, dark Moon.  There is very little time to hear the "inner voice" (Moon) which gives healing instructions.

Guru in house-6 could make available a large range of foods which, unconsciously mixed, could produce toxins.  Unconsciously eating toxic food combinations, driven by a tremendous workload to consume stimulants & forego healing sleep, & also needing to retain waste materials as storage for unrecognized negative emotions -- this body might well produce major tumors.

Behari says of Guru in Vrischikha in Ripu-sthana:

Jupiter's influence [in house-6] is not easily harmonized.

There may be severe physical disease, perhaps dyspepsia or ulcers, marital life will be in the doldrums and difficulties concerning heavy expenditures.

There is a possibility of contracting sexually transmitted diseases, though your social status and respectability will be such that no one will talk about your personal life openly.

Negative emotions of divorce: a contributing disease factor

Given the existing harsh mutual aspect of Kuja & Shani, the first marriage was loaded since the beginning with heavy karma of hard work, excessive duty, oppressive traditions, & repressed anger.  When Kuja became empowered as mahadasha-pati, he immediately stimulated the kuja-dosha which created an angry divorce.  Upon the psycho-physical foundation of this suffering, Kuja then manifested life-threatening disease.

L-7 Guru is no help and in fact as marriage lord in 6th, Guru is a major hindrance to happiness.

"If the 7th lord is in the 6th house, the native will beget a sickly spouse to whom the native will be inimical.  The native will be given to anger and will be devoid of happiness [in marriage]."

--- BPHS Ch. 1, shloka 78

Exceptionally weak in shad-bala and occupying the house of enemies, Guru represents the behavior of the 1st spouse in marriage.  Guru exacerbates the negative effects of 6th house matters such as excessive expenditure, troubled import/export dealings, servitude, animosity, and obsessive work habits in the behavior of the spouse.

This native's life experience is dominated by the Shani-Mangala drive to succeed "even if it kills me".  Prone to suppress her awareness of these negative spousal behaviors in favor of "trying again even harder" (Shani/Mangala) to fix the spousal problems, the native exhausted her reserves and entered a period of severe illness.

Shani occupying yuvati bhava in Guru's sign is famously unfortunate for marriage.  Associated with promiscuity & disintegration of family life, Shani nonetheless gains much power in kendra, as shown in the shad-bala chart above.  Perhaps on the positive side, Parashara says of L-8 Shani: "8th lord in the seventh house - the native will have two spouses" (shloka 91).

Navamsha-lord-of-L-6 method of determining the beliefs or emotions motivating disease:

L-6 Kuja occupies a navamsha of Shani.  We look to Shani in radix, therefore, for information about the circumstances, behaviors, beliefs, and reactive emotions which form the disease environment.

Shani's strength in shad bala, His inauspicious mutual aspect to Kuja, and His lord Guru occupying house-6 of animosity & conflict, combine to implicate marriage as the psycho-emotional stress center of her life.

Psychic matching energy within the native's subconscious attracts such a demanding, adversarial, unappreciative, and ultimately alienated partner.

Kuja, a major adversary to Shani in radix, is lord of 7th navamsha which represents the spouse.  This spouse is definitely the primary suspect in native's psychic disease process!  However, it is the native's belief, very likely unconscious, that she must carry a crushing workload, which is the pre-birth seed of attracting such a spouse.

Unloading this superhuman workload belief, or at least becoming conscious of it, is the key to physical health in her future.

Prognosis:

L-2 Chandra & L-7 Guru are the maraka grahas.

L-8 occupies 12th-from-swakshetra & receives drishti from L-6, reducing longevity.

Should the native survive Kuja/Chandra period, Rahu/L-7 Guru occurs about three years afterwards.

Rahu's job is to magnify the effects of (1) his lord and (2) his co-occupants.

The 18 years of Rahu mahadasha will therefore give the effects of both Budha lord of Kanya, and Kuja the co-tenant of Kanya. Budha is inauspicious as lord of Trimshamsha.  Kuja = L-6.

In the best case, this situation creates the extremely compassionate "wounded healer" lifestyle.
