Marriage Timing via D-9 Navamsha & Gochara Rahu-Ketu

Navamsha

Varga or "divisional" charts show the results of any undertaking of life. 

The varga for marriage is "Navamsha" (9th-division, D-9) which shows the "fruits of Dharma." 

Presuming an accurate birth time, navamsha (D-9) must be consulted side-by-side with radix (D-1) chart, to evaluate not only the material but also the inner psychological dynamics of marriage. 

Accurate predictions require coordinated action between the native's material life (D-1) and their psycho-emotional life (D-9) .  

Timing of marriage -- and Remarriage

As detailed on the marriage page, ceremonial marriage occurs only when two conditions are simultaneously met:

1. Vimshottari bhukti of the *navamsha-activated* marriage maker(s) within this group:

  • navamsha L-1

  • navamsha L-7

  • Shani, Shukra, Rahu

  • (Ketu & grahas yuti Ketu are normally disqualified due to Ketu = karaka for disconnection & separation)

Navamsha Activation of Marriage-makers

In order to produce marriage, a marriage-maker graha must occupy the rashi of another marriage signifier within D-9

Female Nativity, First & Second Marriage

This female native entered marriageable age in her culture toward the beginning of Ketu mahadasha.  The native's parents therefore became interested to know her marriage forecast.

The potential marriage-maker bhukti-pati's for this female nativity are:

  • navamsha L1 = Chandra

  • navamsha L7 = Shani

  • the karakas = Shukra & Rahu

  • D-1 lagna = Vrischika/Vrishabha

  • D-9 lagna = Makara/Karkata

  • D-1 Chandra = Meena/Kanya

  • possibly, D-9 Chandra = Vrischika/Vrishabha

  • possibly, D-1 Shukra = Dhanau/Mithuna

Because several of the key lagnas are identical, the list of required gochara node contact lagnas is reduced to:

  • Vrischika/Vrishabha 

  • Mesha/Tula

  • Makara/Karkata

  • Meena/Kanya

  • Dhanau/Mithuna

Ketu/Rahu period: Marriage time? No.

Ketu/Rahu period occurred during the year Jan-1979 until Jan-1980 (see Vimshottari timeline, above). 

Native was of marriageable age. 

  • Jan-1979 until Jan-1980, gochara Rahu-Ketu transited Simha-Kumbha

  • unfortunately this lagna is not one of the required marriage lagnas for this nativity

Therefore no marriage occurred in Ketu-Rahu bhukti.

Shukra/Rahu period: Marriage time? Yes.

Shukra/Rahu period occurred during the year Apr-1990 until Apr-1993 (see Vimshottari timeline, above). 

Native was of marriageable age. 

  • Apr-1990 until Apr-1993, gochara Rahu-Ketu transited:

    • Makara/Karkata [Apr-1990-until-Apr-1991]

    • Dhanau-Mithuna [Apr-1991-until-Oct-1992]

    • Vrischika/Vrishabha [Nov-1992-until-Apr-1993]

Makara/Karkata [Apr-1990-until-Apr-1991] is one of the marriage lagnas which satisfies the rule. 

Therefore marriage occurred in Shukra-Rahu bhukti. 

Marriage date = Aug-1990.

The first marriage concluded by divorce in Surya/Guru period, where Guru is the divorce-maker = radix L2.

The native remained of marriageable age in her culture. Native enquired regarding prognosis for a second marriage.  

There is a second marriage indicated in the marriage lines on the outside edge of the right palm. Therefore Jyotisha inquiry is warranted.

Following Surya/Guru period, the next activated marriage bhukti in this nativity would be the 17-month window of Chandra/Rahu period: July-2010 -until- Dec-2011

Gochara Rahu-Ketu will contact these lagnas during the native's Chandra/Rahu bhukti:

  • Dhanau-Mithuna [July-2010-until-May-2011] - a marriage lagna

  • Vrischika/Vrishabha [Jun-2011-until-Dec-2011]

  6. D-9 Ketu in rashi of marriage-maker karaka Shani.However, Ketu is the karaka for disconnection & separation, so Ketu is not marriage-activated.

The bhukti periods of Budha & Guru are navamsha marriage activated.

Gochara Rahu-Ketu to marriage lagnas

First marriage occurred 29-July-1981 in Chandra/Guru period, where Guru is marriage-activated. Gochara nodes crossing the potent Karkata/Makara lagna. 

The long and complex Divorce proceeding from first marriage began during Kuja/Ketu period where Ketu is the karaka for disconnection & separation.

Following divorce, the first bhukti for potential second marriage is Rahu/Guru, Oct 1997 until Feb-2000. 

During Rahu/Guru, gochara Rahu-Ketu transited:

  • Simha/Kumbha [Oct-1997 until Jan-1999] - not a marriage lagna

  • Karka/Makara [Feb 1999 until Feb-2000] - a marriage lagna

  • The prince was enduring an excruciating sade saati during the marriage period Feb-1999 until Feb-2000.  I am willing to speculate that while maternal & patriotic resistance created by sade saati prevented a public marriage ceremony, a private ceremony could conceivably have been conducted within this window.

  • However there are certain "showstopper" transits in a person's life, and the most powerful amongst them is indeed the Sade Saati. It is more likely that Sade Saati - Shani's brutal transit to this most delicate of all lagnas in the nativity, for an international royal with an extremely controlling mother, and a major marriage point - simply blocked the natural marriage timing from manifestation.

The next navamsha-activated marriage bhukti is Rahu/Budha, Jan-2003 until July-2005.

Gochara Rahu-Ketu were crossing these lagnas:

  • Vrischika/Vrishabha [jan-Sep-2003] - not a marriage lagna

  • Mesha/Thula - [Sep 2003 - Apr 2005] -  this is a normally a marriage lagna, but Chandra's association with Ketu (and everything on the radix Thula/Mesha lagna) makes it problematic

  • Meena/Kanya lagna - Apr-2005 until Oct-2006. This is a marriage lagna, = D-1 Shukra/D-9. 

    • Second Marriage sanctified on 9-April-2005.
