Second marriage for female, first marriage for
male.
This
middle-aged blue-collar couple met in
a child-&-family health setting. Both are irregular service workers who completed
part of secondary school.
Both have children from previous unions.
They were attracted to each other's
deeply caring parenting
styles, life enthusiasm, and core family values.
Note L1-L5-L9 and Guru patterns distinctively strong in both charts.
However, this couple has (at least) two major points of
conflict in their married life. It is very interesting to observe how the
remarkable tolerance and power of forgiveness inherent in Guru's energy allows
this couple to enjoy a happy marriage. (And they do.)
Religion and religious tolerance
Religious conflict is normally a showstopper in
marriage.
The female holds strong, public, regularly & vociferously announced, conservative religious
beliefs. She is highly
"churched". Her lifelong scriptural tradition is narrowly interpreted
& morally punitive, and normally members of her faith community exclude
unbelievers. She distrusts all levels of government and asserts that public
education is damaging to children's moral development.
Female lagnesha
weak Surya in domain-6, a "moral-corrector".
Through the blessing of rising Guru, this harsh-spoken
female native is actually friendly & outgoing to all people. She has a
special affinity for the weak, the poor, and the shunned (domain-6) which leads
her into much charitable effort. In addition, she is quite permissive in her
private relationships, where none of the public rules seem to apply.
Nevertheless there is a major conflict between her asserted
religious-ideological values and the values of her un-churched husband!
The male is is a 12-step guru in the addictions-recovery community. In
his public moral stance, he is out-rightly liberal & tolerant of others' behaviors
(lagnesha strong Guru in house-9). In personal practice however he conforms to
a much more circumspect code of private behavior.
This relationship is extremely interesting in terms of the tolerance-factor from
their mutually strong Guru positions.
Despite hailing from two opposite ends of the ideological spectrum, they live in
harmony. They particularly appreciate each other's
ongoing good humor & forgiveness of the other's faults. They are both
quite conscious of their faults & delighted to be married to a partner who
acknowledges AND accepts their shortcomings.
This is definitely the
blessing of Brihaspati, who embraces all phenomena with nonjudgmental divine
love.
Drugs & Alcohol
The second area of ideological conflict is drugs, and the proper behavior toward
drug use. Both partners have been challenged by emotional
& substance-abuse issues.
Note Shukra prominently angular for
both radices and both Shukra positions lacking control from Shani.
Shukra signifies indulgence,
including comfort drugs.
Without a strong corrective from Shani, empowered Shukra in
lagna axis can be very indulgent.
Male gets the Shani-Shukra restraint in
navamsha, and he is also 20-years clean in recovery.
Female does not, and is not.
Yet, the male who is fully publicly opposed to drug use, (& is a working
professional in drug recovery) is entirely tolerant of the female, who is an
active drug & alcohol abuser (lagnesha & lord of swamsha in domain-6 of
addictions, permissive Guru drishti allows Shukra to over-expand, emotional
damage in domain-4).
This tolerance too is a blessing of Guru.
Guru
Guru is very intense & empowered in both native's D1-D9 arrangements.
When they married, a large blended
family of natural, adopted, and foster children was created. They
operate residential care centers, with enthusiasm, generosity and compassion.
Despite two major areas of values conflict, this pair can enjoy their voluntary
marriage fully.
One note however regarding the blessings of all-tolerant, humanistic,
compassionate Guru: within a few years of marriage, both spouses have acquired
numerous grandchildren, and both have become quite fat!

Psycho-emotional matches are extensively bonded on four of six possible
rashi axes. This couple participates in several different communities (school, church, fellowship, sports etc.) and
has a large repertoire of shared
activity.
Multiple bonds strengthen marriage longevity by creating a variety of "stakeholders"
who share in supporting the marriage.
