Shatavisakhya = Rahu at His most Rahu-ish

  • Rahu does His 'best' work in Shatataraka.

  • Shatavishkya nakshatra = ruled by churning, barrier-breaking Rahu

  • Kumbha rashi co-lorded by Rahu + Rahu's enemy Shani

ShataBishaja Lotus-root people obtain the social respect due to a lawful Shani-ruled rashi but they have a special affinity for the non-human beings and also sympathy (Chandra) for the outcast, foreigners (Rahu) the lower classes (Shani) and the great masses of people who huddle into leaderless conformist crowds.

  • They respond to the masses and the classes, and once in a ranked status they start to break social taboos by penetrating the barriers that surround the elite

  • They are not usually personally very happy, prone to fits of depression; however the healing service they can render to others is quite magnificent.

  • Their best environment is one of poverty, despair, illiteracy, instinctive and muscular passions, large numbers of people trying to distribute relatively few resources, cultures of oily smoke and conjuring, crawling with reptiles, eating meat and surging with animal passions.

  • Into the right environment they bring a gift of mimicry and posturing that allows people to trust them. Shatataraka can "pass" as whatever race, class, or religious culture they wish.

  • Thus they excel in the tropical jungle countries, and in the pockets of jungle culture composed by migrants into the drier, colder lands.

David Frawley,

"Varuna desired, "May I be firm and not unsteady."

One who makes the appropriate offering to Varuna, to Shatabhishak,

  • becomes firm and not unsteady.

  • This firmness also implies freedom from disease and debility.

  • Shatabhishak is a Nakshatra of healing ."

Dennis Harness

"24. Shatabisha: The Hundred Stars (Aquarius 06 40 to 20 00 ) Shatabisha also translates as the hundred healers or the hundred flowers .

The primary deity is Varuna, the God of Medicine and the Cosmic Waters, which provides the natives with a strong connection to the healings arts. Varuna is the Cosmic Man pouring his healing waters unto humanity.

Astrologer Ronnie Gale Dreyer and author of Healing Signs has her natal Moon in this powerful nakshatra.

The shakti of Shatabisha is the power of healing .

The symbol for Shatabisha is an empty circle, reflecting the independent nature and autonomy experienced through this lunar mansion.

This nakshatra can also be a challenging birth star for early marriage.

Rahu, as the ruling planet of this asterism indicates a love for travel and adventure.

It has a rakshasa temperament with the primary motivation being dharma or right action."

Valerie Roebuck,

"Dhanvantari the Physician of the Gods,

holds up the pot containing the nectar of the immortality,

an ancient Babylonian symbol that corresponds with Aquarii."
