The extraordinary public and private life of Winston Churchill includes spectacular leadership for Britain during the darkest hours of World War II.
He is best remembered for his eloquent, ennobling speeches and his pugnacious refusal to surrender Britain's fate to Nazi domination.
Churchill was a seasoned military fighter (Kuja) with exquisite literary skills (Budha; L-3 in lagna), an international front-line journalist (Budha/Kuja) with lifelong alcohol issues (Shukra), a victim of severe emotional depression (Chandra/12), & the father of five children with whom he had troubled relationships (Shani/5).
Along with FDR he is considered (at least within the Anglosphere) as a true savior of the Free World.
Winston Churchill's views on language & history are skillfully practical, profoundly aesthetic, & truly sanguine.
He possessed powerful artistic gifts, producing over the 90 years of his life more than 500 paintings & sculptures.
He was a great historian (Shani/5) with a stunningly capacious, detailed, and expansively descriptive writing style.
Yet, in his daily life and social views, he was an anglo-centric aristocratic bigot with numerous & pronounced flaws of character, and was considered by many as a difficult or even immoral human being.
As one might expect, the Jyotisha nativity is fascinatingly contradictory and complex!

Career profile: Winston Churchill
This weighting includes dashamsha.
Grahas which play a dominant role in the personality AND also own key lagnas in the D-1, D-9, and D-10 will strengthen & direct the career.
(If the strong personality grahas do not appear in the career lagnas, the career will be modest.)

Timeline of accomplishments in government service:
Budha is powerful.
Churchill's nativity is dominated by Shukra (art & alcohol), Budha (speech & literature) & Kuja (competition & war). Of those 3 graha, Budha is by far the dominant influence in career.
Marriage is moderate, with spouses enjoying plenty of intelligence & money.
The native is exceptionally artistic & a bit of a lush: 6 grahas in Shukra's rashis (D1 + D9) and the rising uccha Shukra in navamsha!
This native is also pugnacious, verbally aggressive, & self-identified with deadly-conflict situations: rising double-malefic, L3/L8 hyper-critical Kuja/Kanya in radix.
Career is very much dominated by clever Budha: rising swakshetra Budha in D-10 while Budha plays numerous key roles elsewhere in the personality & career profile
No grahas in 10th radix, 10th navamsha, or 10th dashamsha. This is beneficial for top level executive work while carrying out the desires of others (inc. "the People")
Guru is also a very important career lord - but note that Guru is exactly conjunct to Ketu, making the circumstances of career so peculiar as to be downright mystical. In fact (see below) some of Churchill's biggest self-proclaimed errors occur in Guru periods
L12 - Surya Mahadasha, age 23-29
1900, first election to Parliament
Surya/Guru period
Guru = L4/L7 radix; L7 = career karaka
Guru occupies domain-2 for speeches
Guru = lord of navamsha (shows the spiritual path)
Guru = lord of 10th Dashamsha (shows career direction)
L11 - Chandra Mahadasha, age 29-39
Marriage = Sept. 1908
Chandra/Shani period
Shani causes a marriage of duty or time-pressure
gochara Rahu/Ketu cross Mithuna/Dhanau = navamsha Moon-yuti-Shani
L3/L8 - Kuja Mahadasha, age 39-46
L3/L8 Kuja = double-malefic
Kuja mahadasha = bad seven years for Churchill
However, Kuja = uccha in dashamsha, he continues to build power base
1915, Gallipoli - a disastrous military mistake
Kuja/Rahu period = initial stage
Rahu amplifies the aggressive lord Kuja, at an inauspicious 6/8 angle for hostility & conflict
Kuja/Guru = continuation, failure in Dardanelles
Guru located an inauspicious 2/12 angle from Kuja: suggests intrigue, blaming, heavy loss
Guru:
is with confusing, detached Ketu in D-1, D-9, and D-10.
As L7 radix & L10 in BOTH navamsha & dashamsha, Guru is a career karaka
however Guru's proximity to Ketu = bad or confused decisions.
Rahu Mahadasha, age 46-64
Rahu mahadasha amplifies the negative, adversarial effects of Rahu's lord the rising L3/L8 Kuja.
increasing the magnitude, Rahu receives drishti of Kuja
Rahu occupies rashis of Mangala in radix, navamsha, AND dashamsha
However, super-malefic Rahu period has some career-sustaining benefits:
Kuja is exalted in dashamsha
L7 Guru who is also L10/navamsha & dashamsha, = yuti Ketu/Rahu within 1 degree of orb - a VERY tight relationship signifying intensive contact with foreigners
major career-driver Budha also occupies the radix Rahu/Ketu lagna
Churchill's political career survives despite massive strategic governing errors & political isolation for his bigoted pugnaciousness.
1924-1929, Chancellor of the Exchequer
Rahu/Guru period
Churchill admits that returning the pound sterling to the Gold Standard was the worst mistake he ever made
Begin worldwide Depression
1930-1937 - Political Isolation, intensive writing
Rahu/Ketu period - disconnected, isolated, interior focus
1938, "Winston's Back" - Navy
Rahu/Kuja period
return to military leadership in preparation for Britain's entrance to World War II
L4/L7 - Guru Mahadasha, age 64-80
Note Guru's extraordinary relationship to Rahu/Ketu - exactly conjunct Ketu, & very close to career-driver Budha
Rahu is an extremely malefic force in Mesha the rashi of war, in domain-8 for the circumstances of death & secret information networks
Guru/Guru period - onset of World War II
Guru/Shani period - terrible enemies, victims, scarcity, debt, political alliances, fortunate help
Guru/Budha - era of miraculously heartening speeches, refuse to surrender, crafting of plans & strategies/tactics
Guru/Ketu period - out of office, confusion & disconnection
Guru/Surya period -
Guru/Chandra period -
Guru/Surya period -
Guru/Kuja - return to popularity, begin second term as P.M
Guru/Rahu period -
L5/L6 - Shani Mahadasha, age 80-90
Shani/Shani - resignation from public office,. in failing health
15-Jan-1965, death
Shani/Surya period (may actually be Shani/Shukra if BT was rectified closely)
honors pour in from around the world
