Karakamsha = best known for work in foreign policy, with foreign lands

• Karakamsha = Dhanau.

• As his 12th radix house suggests, Obama will become best known for his foreign policy and interactions with global leaders and lands. 

• He has a powerful capability to manage secret information, due to atmakaraka Kuja in domain-8 in Simha, the sign of Kings. 

• L-12 Guru in lagna becomes extremely powerful through neechcha bhanga (reversal of debilitation). (Compare to Queen Elizabeth II. )

• Obama's atmakaraka Kuja suggests that he is "psychically mature" and therefore naturally gifted in handling explosively powerful, secret information in the world of international relations. 

• As a result of spiritual work completed in past lives, the deeply transformative (with potential to be catastrophically dangerous) 8th-house challenge is indeed his area of expertise. He has the power to change violent animosities into skillful cooperation and positive good will. 

Caveat elector: While international diplomacy is a critically important part of U.S. national leadership, the location of Obama's Karakamsha does also suggest that USA domestic policy could be less naturally engaging for him. 

This despite Kuja's rulership of his radix domain-4 (national defense) and domain-11 (economy).

• Thus, Obama's choice of highly qualified and diverse advisers in domestic policy -- and his commitment to listen carefully to them - would be especially important. 

Vimshottari Dasha Narrative

L-3/L-12 Guru/ L-8 Surya period -- Surya = L-8 from Chandra

• 2008 USA Presidential campaign, highly contentious accusatory dialogue with his  competitor (and later his appointed Secretary of State), Sen. Hillary Clinton

In Ashlesha, Surya gets involved in other people's business, slithering into secret recesses and creating a serpentine stranglehold "embrace" upon His victims. Obama becomes very hard to get away from!

L-3/L-12 Guru/ L-7 Chandra period -- Chandra = L-1 from Chandra

Mother

During periods ruled by Soma, if Soma has dignity, one is able to psycho-emotionally channel the full astral power of one's mother. That is, one can call upon all of her moral, emotional, social, mental, and spiritual resources (everything except the physical). 

If Chandra = uchcha, the mother is a woman of strong character. The channeling will give success in domains of the bhava occupies and ruled by Chandra.

Where Chandra is also lord of yuvati bhava, one is very much calling upon the astral resources of the spouse.

Maraka Chandra - not activated in Guru/Chandra period

The only downside to Obama's period of the uchcha L-7 is the usual implication of an empowered maraka. 

However, Chandra's radix location in the angle of  5th-from-mahadasha-pati Guru will probably provide adequate protection against Chandra's inherent maraka capabilities. 

5th-from is a life-affirming angle which signifies courage and divine intelligence. It rarely involves death. 

• The more threatening maraka in this nativity is the natural malefic L-2 Shani. 

• Lagnesha maraka vargottama L-2 Shani occupies the radix lagna with dignity and strength. 

The native's Shani/Shani period starting in 2012, which is also a USA presidential election year, should be closely watched.  Maraka activity in Shani/Shani is definitely empowered.

Vimshottari periods for the "First Hundred Days"

The "first hundred days" begins on 20-Jan-2009, in Obama's Guru/Chandra/Shukra  period.

Guru/Chandra/Shukra  period = 9-Dec-2008 until 01-Mar-2009.

L-7 Chandra's emphasis on counseling, advising, and building partnerships will get the Obama administration off to a good start.

Shukra sub-sub-period, which dictates day-to-day experience, is favorable for feeling emotionally secure and delivering inspirational speeches, as Shukra is lord of Chandra, and Shukra occupies 2nd-from-Chandra (intuitive, emotionally based speech).

Guru/Chandra/Surya  period = 01-Mar-2008 until 25-Mar-2009

Surya in 3rd-from-Chandra strengthens administrative abilities in writing and all communications media. Surya is empowered in Karkata rashi, and Chandra is lord of Surya. 

Force of personal character specifically in matters of social ethics (Ravi). Drives a positive, dynamic communication phase in which partnerships and alliances, with domestic advisers and with the leaders of other nations, are emphasized.

L-3/L-12 Guru/ L-4/L-11 Mangala period -- Maraka Kuja = L-7/L-12 from Chandra

25-Mar-2009 until 28-Feb-2010

Kuja = karaka for competition, penetration, aggressive pursuit, and war. 

L-4/L-11:

Here is the first big challenge of his administration: L-11 = marketplace economy, and L-4 = domestic homeland security. 

As radix L-4 and occupying 4th-from-Chandra, Mangala is a deeply patriotic, homeland-defending graha. 

Kuja/Simha, rashi of Ravi (Vishnu) for Divine Intelligence = one's ethical heart feels an abiding love for and willingness to fight to defend the land of one's birth.

In the nativity of any individual, L-11 rules one's gainfulness and interactions within the marketplace. For a world leader, Kuja rules the world economy.

Uttaraphalguni 

Kuja occupies Uttaraphalguni nakshatra, pada-1. Ruled by Aryaman, the Respectable One, who is bound to perform His duty and bear witness to moral principle. 

Uttaraphalguni is an auspicious nakshatra for Kuja, and we can expect dutiful results from Mangala's bhukti period.

Uttaraphalguni is associated with "Bondage (ensnaring) and other cruel deeds, construction, warlike acts, deception" [BPHS]. 

However the higher calling of Uttaraphalguni is clearly "bondage to higher truth" from Surya (Aryama) which is why Uttaraphalguni, when energized, gives "the best fruits, but later on".

8th-from-Mahadasha pati

Kuja occupies 8th-from-Guru (mahadasha pati) in the rashi chart. [Kuja occupies 9th-from-Guru in the bhava chart.]

At 29: 15 Simha rashi, Kuja is extremely weak in terms of warriorship but also this position is morally advanced. Kuja + Rahu in randhra bhava signifies tremendous transformative capability. Literally, this one has the power to perform surgery upon the world.

Domain-8 turns the wheel of Birth and Death

Kuja in domain-8 with strength is a karaka for sudden surgeries and death by weapons. 

• Compare to JFK, Mahatma Gandhi, and Abraham Lincoln (below). But note important differences that suggest an injury or health crisis rather than an assassination (below).

Kuja/8 indicates a vital subconsciously-held past-life memory carried over from heroic but fatal fighting in battlefields of previous lives. 

Kuja in domain-8 does not guarantee death by weapons at any particular time in life. 

Kuja merely provides the predisposition toward that eventuality, due to the intensity of the past-life memory. 

The memory infuses one's expectations with a vivid reminder of the circumstances, and their previous result.

Gochara Guru 

Gochara Guru will transit into rashi of Makara = 12-Dec-2008 until 01-May-2009, and again from 30-July-2009 to 19-Dec-2009 . 

Mr. Obama's "Guru Return" will certainly help his communication powers (Guru = L-3) and strengthen his international charisma (Guru = L-12) during his first year of office. 

• For most people, the forthcoming journey of Guru into Makara rashi will have a less favorable effect, because for most people Guru is a disappointing and constrained graha when He occupies His neechcha rashi. 

Neechcha Guru is associated with economic downturns and excessive permissiveness that weakens the lawful order of social relations. 

• However for Mr. Obama, Guru in radix lagna obtains neechcha banga. (Compare to Queen Elizabeth II of U.K.) For him, the effect of Guru's one-year transit will be quite beneficial.

Gochara Shani from September-2009 until August-2012

In Sept-2009, just as gochara Shani completes His once-every-29.3-years transit through the rashi of Simha, Lord Shani will cross the degree of 29 Simha, in Uttaraphalguni nakshatra, in Obama's radix domain-8. 

As L-1, transiting Shani brings strength of Obama's dutiful Shani-grounded social personality to matters of potentially catastrophic upheaval and sudden, forced changes (domain-8) 

As L-2, Shani can bring makara effects to the otherwise sheltered and gainful  L-4/L-11 Atmakaraka Kuja. Kuja is also a maraka (L-7/L-12) from Chandra lagna.

• Gochara Shani brings the karma of law-abiding effort and difficulty into a hostile rashi (Simha) where the needs of the common people (Shani) are normally met with royal disdain (Simha). L-4 Kuja represents the rank-and-file citizenry and their profound need for physical and emotional security. 

• Because Obama will enter the period of Guru/Kuja in March-2009, Shani's transit to Kuja indicates a severe challenge for him. He will need to enforce (Shani) cooperation from independent, highly entitled (Kuja/Simha) secret and confidential powers (domain-8) before he really has a chance to gain their trust. He may need to use the threat of armed force (Shani/Kuja). 

• Luckily, the worst of the problems will be resolved by late Sept-2009, as Shani exits Simha (phew!). Expect an economic and military crisis for Obama in the first weeks of Sept-2009, as Shani hits the exact degree of Kuja. 

Mitigants

• L-8 Ravi in domain-7 = secrets and  hidden matters (8) going into long-term, alliance-building negotiations. L-6 (conflict) Budha in domain-7 shows a predisposition to try to build alliances in conflict-intensive situations.

• Ravi/Budha in domain-7 are excellent indicators of negotiation and arbitration skill. In 12th-from-Kuja, Ravi/Budha point to closed-door meetings and other urgent balancing activities conducted in sanctuary space. 

• Kuja's lord Surya occupies 12th-from-Kuja, reducing somewhat the power of aggression, but strengthening the capability to pursue alliances and partnerships

• Furthermore, Chandra is stronger by Shad-bala than Mangala. 

• Moreover, Kuja in Simha + amplifier Rahu = injury to the heart and/or spine, and transformative surgeries to correct the damage caused by injury. 

• As L-4/L-11, Kuja is more likely to involve recuperation time at home (4) and continuous pro-active pursuit of one's goals in the assembly (11). 

For USA President 33 JFK, his own swakshetra Kuja + lagnesha Budha in domain-8 was a dramatic indication of death by bullet. 

• Kuja in Mesha was the strongest graha by shad bala in the entire chart. 

• Kuja is the most violent of the natural malefics. 

• L-3/L-8 Kuja is an extreme papa-graha for Kanya lagna, and 

• Kuja occupies 9th-from-Chandra, indicating violent consequences following a struggle of belief systems. Classically indicates death while performing a religious ceremony. (In this case a celebration of open political freedom.)

• Kennedy died in the last days of L-4/L-7 Guru/Guru/Rahu period, in Nov. 1963.

For Abraham Lincoln, radix Kuja was also the strongest graha by shad bala. Kuja + Rahu gave a prediction of death by bullet. Lincoln's lagna was quite likely Dhanishtha, containing the rising Moon. Kuja, much exacerbated by Rahu,  would have cast drishti upon Chandra and radix lagna. Kuja/Rahu's lord for Lincoln was uchcha Shukra -- very much empowered to express feminine (cowardly) passion. 

For Mahatma Gandhi, Maraka L-2/L-7 Kuja in lagna + L-8 Shukra in lagna also provides a prediction of death by gunshot. But not until an advanced age (78) when most of his life's work had been eminently accomplished.

For Obama, L-7 Chandra for negotiating, balancing, and  alliance-building and also Lagnesha/L-2 Shani, are stronger than Kuja in Shad Bala.
