Napoleon_1801_Antoine-Jean_Gros Bonaparte_on_the_Bridge_at_Arcole.jpgAstrodatabank.com states:

"Name Bonaparte, Napoleon I Gender: M Birth name Bonaparte, Louis Napoleon born on 15 August 1769 at 11:30 (= 11:30 AM Place Ajaccio, Corsica, 41n46, 8e48 T time zone LMT m8e48 Data source From memory Rodden Rating A "

See the detailed discussion at astrodatabank.com

The oft-cited birth time of 1100 or 1130 = not from "memory" of an observer of the birth but rather from the anecdote that Napoleon's mother went into labor in Corsica when she was sitting in church for the purpose of hearing Holy Mass, which ritual was presumably being offered at the hour approaching noon.

Indeed, the time and even the date of Napoleon's birth are questioned. One scholar has asserted that 15-Aug-1769 is actually the birth date of Napoleon's younger brother and that the Emperor of France himself was actually born on 07-Jan-1968 at an unknown time. Napoleon's parentage is also questioned.

However if the 15-Aug-1769 at Ajaccio, Corsica is used with a time of 05h11m21s, Lord Surya gains extraordinary power in occupation of the lagna of all 16 Parashari varga, including

  • Swakshetra Surya in D-1, D-2, D-3, D-4 , D-7 , D-10, D-12 and D-16.

  • Ravi yuti warrior Mangala in the D-1 lagna

Josephine: Shukra = first wife

Kumbha-Shani ruled bhava-7 for Simha typically = an elder spouse. Marriage to his elder Josephine born 1763 nearly 7 years before Napoleon who was born in 1769

L-6 + L-7 Shani is a distinctly challenging graha for the Simha lagna and much more so in 12 where Shani-12 would predict an elder spouse living in a distant land. Napoleon was away on military campaigns. The female partner's (Shukra) bedroom activities (12) involve enemies of the marriage (6th from 7th) .

Josephine had been the previous mistress of the top man in France at the time; and as he wished her to be re-purposed (and re-direct her expensive tastes to another purse). Her first husband, by whom she had two lovely children, had been guillotined (Ketu). Being well-connected socially (Shukra-11) she became a courtier to support her children and her tastes.

Josephine was introduced to Napoleon by mutual friends (11) at a large gathering (11).

The spousal ability to form friendly and gainful (11) associations = few barriers due to Ketu-11. Also her notorious over-spending may be attributed to Shukra-Ketu in 11 with L-11 Budha draining the gains of 11 into the dissolution of vyvya-12.

Napoleon's love-letters to her were written (Budha) from his station in far-away lands (12). These letters are products of the wistful imagination showing a literary gift Shukra-Mithuna = they are still read today.

L-7 in 12 is generally difficult to maintain the marriage contract. When compounded by Napoleon's Shukra + Ketu in 6th-from-Chandra in addition to a truly fierce Kuja Dosha from Mangala bhava-1 + dominating me-first Ravi in bhava-1, a loyal union might be predicted as impossible.

So it was for the duteously-traveling military genius Emperor Self Proclaimed (Rahu-5) and his first wife, the mistress nonchalant of numerous aristocratic and commercially successful Parisian gentlemen.

Maria-Louisa: Ketu = Second Wife

A man's second wife (if any) is indicated by graha yuti Shukra.

In Napoleon's case the 2nd-wife karaka = Ketu.

Napoleon and M. Louisa were married in a grand ceremony --by proxy, i.e. Napoleon was not physically present for the wedding (Ketu). There was a physical meeting and another ceremony about a month later (Shukra).

Historically there is extensive documentation that Marie-Louisa of Austria was chosen not from love whatsoever but from her strategic utility in Napoleon's attempt to fabricate an Empire from connections (Ketu-11) to other heads of state. Her initial impact in French Society was as a gently demure and polite person entirely disengaged from the political economy of the Royal court.

Nevertheless Napoleon expressed affection toward her and a son was born. Apparently some fellow-feeling did develop between them, but in calendar time they were able to spend less than 1 year together. Napoleon is quoted as calling Marie-Louisa a "disappointment" (Ketu). It is not clear who abandoned whom, but after Napoleon was overthrown or abdicated M-Louisa took their son back to Austria and Napoleon never saw either of them again.

Understanding Ketu: from Napoleon's perspective Marie-Louise was somewhat un-connectable, but M-Louise herself having played the Ketu role in N's life went along to enjoy the rest of her life including more marriages and more children.

Marie-Louise was with Napoleon for only two years, leaving him when she was 24. She lived until age 56, married a total of three times (twice more after Napoleon) and bore a total of 4 live children (3 more after her son with Napoleon).

Napoleon Bonaparte by Jacques-Louise David, 1812Magha Nakshatra in lagna

"A proud but not an arrogant nature

  • poised, self-contained and dignified.

  • this man will command respect because of his quiet dignity of manner and hearing.

His position in his community will be secure

and his financial standing sound.

  • His weakness, however, is his susceptibility to the blandishments of the Opposite sex.

He must avoid entanglements

  • which might lead to a loss of dignity,

  • since, to this man, such a loss would be a tragedy."

Distinctive Features of the Nativity

  • Surya's "center stage" Chandra-navamsha trine produces naturally confident, brightly radiant politicians and artists of creative performance.

  • Shukra + Ketu in 6th-from-Chandra= trouble through long separations from nurturing females, and emotional disengagement from marriage vow

  • Chandra-6 = those who say that they will support and nurture one tend to turn against one, so that the core nurturers and shelter-providers become enemies

Ketu in bhava 12 = distant lands, imagination, bedroom, clandestine activities

Rahu in bhava 6 = instrumental association with underclass, criminals, expedient deal-breaking

Raja Yoga :

  • Harsha

  • Vimala

Raja yoga of a peculiar type = L-6 Shani in 12 Harsha Yoga AND L-12 Chandra in 6 Vimala Yoga

That which in miserably unfortunate for most people (e.g. war) is a benefit to the native.

Profits from one's enemies, from power vacuums, from broken contracts, from long sojourn in distant lands under conditions of scarcity.

Karakamsha

Bhava-10 = institutional governance. The Napoleonic Code has influenced legal systems in nations around the world.

Arudha of Karma Bhava

Bhava-6 containing Rahu

Expedience, illicitness, however 6 is the ultimately most successful placement for Reckless Rahu
