Punarvasu

  • Shil-Ponde (1939) Hindu Astrology Joytisha-Shastra. p 81.

"... from Arudra to Punarvasu, a startling change in mental development.

In Punarvasu, the native is possessed of profound intelligence ,

  • capable of delving into and understanding all manner of philosophical and metaphysical postulates.

He revels in abstract thought

  • and has a lively and profound imagination.

He may be also a poet of high attainment , expressing a fire and vitality in his verse

  • which is the result of an unusually passionate temperament.

He will, however, be only moderately successful by worldly standards during his lifetime

  • although unlike the Arudra native, he will not experience poverty."

Anecdotally, birth time is given as "near sunrise"

  • marriage = November 4, 1842

  • wife Mary Todd hailed from a more educated wealthier social class. she had a number of well-placed suitors, but suffered from mental and physical illnesses including severe migraine headaches. Many scholars now consider Mrs. Lincoln's condition to have been bipolar disorder. Her social entertaining skills were essential to his rise in career and despite their marital troubles she supported him publically until the end.

first child = 01-Aug-1843. Four sons born.

1843 age 33, Lincoln and a partner bought a local store. when his General Store failed in a healthy economy, Lincoln began his political career

  • Typically Lincoln worked away from home as a horseback "circuit rider" and Mary was left to manage the children, which she did with a notable lack of discipline.

4 sons were born but all died before age 18 except one survived = Guru in bhava-10 at zero degrees Meena

Robert the surviving son rose to high office, wealth etc.

His wife Mary Todd is considered to have had mental-emotional illness and Lincoln himself suffered melancholy which would modernly be called clinical depression.

Marriage

In a male nativity, uchchamsha Shukra + L-12 swakshetra Guru in bhava-3 = the wife is delightfully pretty, wealthy and socially an asset however she is a source of concern due to retreating behavior (12) within the marriage.

Shukra = yogakaraka from the Chandra-Makara

partner of USA Pres-16 Abraham Lincoln

Mrs. Mary Todd Lincoln is speculated to have suffered from Borderline Personality Disorder . Mrs. Lincoln was mentally ill but physically strong, and observers commented that she would physically batter the president when she was having an episode.

  • Mary Todd Lincoln is described as an exceptionally beautiful and vivacious woman from a relatively wealthy family (uchcha Shukra). Observers of the era noted her higher social status compared to Mr. Lincoln's humble pioneer background.

  • Her entertaining skills (Shukra) are said to have been enormously valuable in advancing the career (10) of her socially awkward but politically ambitious husband.

r

  • Mrs. Lincoln is believed to have suffered "borderline personality disorder" which results in delightful socializing to outsiders and private violence to those inside the family, with a marked tendency to divide the family into flawless "good children" versus damned "bad children". As the disorder progresses, typically the husband joins the damned.

  • Kuja + Rahu drishti to bhava-4 may signify verbal violence in the home. Mr. Lincoln's father was said to have been verbally violent so young Abe grew up familiar with those conditions.

Leadership

  • Rahu + Mangala in 10 = desire to achieve the top rank and the energy to pursue that goal

Death

Mr. Lincoln was shot (Mangala) at a social event (Thula) in a sudden catastrophic moment that brought a belligerent civil-warring nation finally in their grief to a re-union.

Death in a period of Rahu

Father

Karako Bhavo Nashto = Surya Kumbha in dharmasthana + lagnesha Budha

Shani in bhava-9 Vrischika, with lord Mangala in 12th-from-Shani, suggest a seriously hard-working and diligent pursuit of material gain, often starting from lower social ranks (Shani) and emerging into a higher position through effort.

Father

  • Much trouble through the father with Shani in 9 and Surya in 12 + L-9 Mangala in 8 + Rahu

Lincoln's father lived a harsh life carving out subsistence farms in the dense wilderness of the Indiana Territories, and he was a man of his generation, harsh and realistic in all ways.

  • Shani drishti to Makara lagna and Makara Chandra would indicate young Abraham to be a very hard worker, the very icon of pioneer persistence, with every quality of Shani (roughness, thinness, darkness, perseverance, lawfulness, and sobriety) becoming exceptionally fierce and pronounced.

Mother
  • Chandra in 8 receives tragic drishti of both Shani and Kuja; sudden and early loss of beloved mother

  • Mr. Lincoln was said to have been deeply attached to his mother, who died when he was a young boy.

  • However he also formed a successful attachment to his father's second wife. This would have been possible because stepmother = 8th -from-Chandra = bhava-3 who was supportive of young Lincoln's education and adult ambitions and served as a negotiator-barrier against Lincoln's difficult father. Her support helped him to advance from wilderness farmhand to lawyer to President of USA. Lincoln remained devoted to her.
