Difficult Mahadasha, largely avoided

Having been born in Chandra's early pada of Uttarabhadrapada, M. Gen. Le President de Gaulle experienced the entire Shani Mahadasha so that he receives the full effects of this highly contradictory graha: yogakaraka for leadership yet fundamentally disliking the home culture (Shani-Simha-4 takes drishti of inimical Mangala).

His professor father was an agitator and big complainer about France's weakness during the previous war, ascribing the national weakness to entrenched privileges (Simha) and a culture of rigid formality. Young Charles grew up with the constant (16 years of it) barrage of his father's angry frustration with the homeland habits (4).

Therefore the potentially debilitating periods of Shani-Mangala and Shani-Guru are completed before he turns 17.

There certainly would have been trouble in the family home during those high-conflict early periods, and the fact that he was born into Shani-Shani swabhukti indicates a very difficult and perhaps dangerous birth which may have taken a serious toll upon his mother. In fact the lore about de Gaulle says that his mother could never control him in the home, and he was reputedly a badly behaved young boy until he was sent to military boarding school.

Rahu casts drishti upon six graha.

Rahu accepts drishti from six Graha.

Bad angles avoided

  • Graha are spaced in such a way that no graha occupies the 12th from any other. This fact alone protects the vitality in an orchestrated way; graha in the 12th-from position drain the life force from those in the relative 2nd-from itself, but there is no Vimshottari period in which the bhukti-pati occupies the 12th from its overlord.

  • Furthermore there are only two shad-ashtaka 6-8 angles: L-3 Chandra occupies the shad-ashtaka 6-8 angles from the Yogakaraka Shani, and the super-strong duo of Mangala-Guru in the bhava of father and fatherland do occupy the shad-ashtaka 6-8 from Shani as well. De Gaulle's father was a professor (9) who was also a military veteran bent on indoctrinating his sons to rebuild France. It is definitely a case of karako bhavo nashto with an ideology (9) of military conquest.

  • Graha in the 8th-from-Shani are not overly problematic, but graha residing in the 6th-from-Shani will give significantly unfavorable results in their bhukti period during the Shani Mahadasha. Difficulties are heavily karmic (lawful) in nature and arise from deep-seated animosity, debt, injuries and diseases.

Atmakaraka and Karakamsha

  • Atmakaraka = significator of the soul = Vrischika Shukra in 7 = death, poison, sudden attacks, hidden dangers; also negotiation, bargaining, alliances

  • Karakamsha = rashi of the atmakaraka's navamsha = the activity for which one is best known = bhava-10 Kumbha = governance, presidency, leadership

Arudha lagna

  • Arudha lagna = bhava-10 Kumbha institutional leadership

  • lord of Arudha lagna = Shani yogakaraka in bhava-4 homeland

Lagna and Lagnesha

  • Lagnesha = Vrischika Shukra in 7 = deadly alliances

parivartamsha

  • none

Raja Yoga :

  • drishti of Yogakaraka L-9+L-10 Shani AND L-5 Budha upon radical lagna (Vrishabha)

  • leadership in a time of catastrophic upheaval

  • similar Raja Yoga in bhava-8 violent threats, explosives, and hidden forces for Franklin D. Roosevelt

Kemadruma Yoga

Kemadruma yoga is relentless poverty maker which deprives the native of property ownership .

= no graha in the bhava 2nd-from or 12th-from Chandra, and Guru does not occupy 1,4, 7, or 10 from Chandra.

  • General de Gaulle was an adversary of personal wealth.

  • He did not like money; he resisted it (Shani 11, resistance to earnings; he refused to accept a government pension for himself of his family);

  • he distrusted accumulations and detached himself from money in the bank (Ketu-2).

  • De Gaulle died penniless, and he kept his family in a state of penury as well. However Chandra-11 indicates that the mother was gainful; in fact she hailed from a bourgeois family of successful merchants of Lille district.

  • No graha on either side of Chandra. Compare to other Kemadruma yoga nativities: Edgar Cayce, Mother Teresa Of Kolkata, Shri Aurobindo.

Vrischika-7

  • A powerful collection of warlike invading and destroying graha in a rashi of danger and a bhava of negotiations toward alliance.

  • Vrischika inhabitants are positioned in 9th-from-Chandra, showing great good fortune from cultural upheaval, invasive war, veiling and disguise, surprise attacks, domination, torture, terror, explosives, and professional expertise in weapons of destruction. De Gaulle lived, fought, directed, and governed in environments fraught with violent upheaval and daily terror (Vrischika) of flesh-death (Vrischika = maraka bhava-7).

  • bhava-7, a powerful bhava signaling the constant bargaining for agreement and partnership, receives the drishti of Rahu the Rogue. Thus L-4 Surya+ L-1+L-6 Shukra, Ketu, and L-2 + L-5 Budha -- lords of five bhava plus Ketu who give effect of Mangala -- are marshaled into roguish military performance. de Gaulle was a risk taker and guerilla fighter who was constantly at odds with the conventional military authorities but eventually triumphed in disastrous times via his irregular methods

Surya

Surya in Vrischika

Surya in bhava-7

Vrischika Ravi = lord of bandhu bhava; in 9th-from-Chandra; receiving Parashari drishti of Rahu.

Lord of Navamsha-7 = spouse, partners, alliances.

L-6 from Chandra = parents out of balance

  • Surya, the graha of charismatic leadership, is lord of 6th-from-Chandra. While an imposing and capable leader in nearly every aspect of national protection and stable government, De Gaulle suffered countless enemies (6) and enjoyed very few reliable friends throughout his life.

  • his national brethren nearly worshipped him as a great warrior during times of war

  • Unfortunately however Rahu accepts drishti of Rahu. de Gaulle suffered from an Autocratic militarized governing style even when the war was finished, which made him unpopular in the post-war peace .

  • L-11 = neechcha Guru, overconfidence - much fueled by the uchcha Mangala. He fundamentally disliked the political election process (Shani-Simha-4) and showed his disdain by marching out of characteristically petty and protracted French discussions.

  • Unlike his military peers who made a successful transition into peace-time presidencies -- note the more flexible positions of Surya in Eisenhower, Teddy Roosevelt, Ulysses S. Grant -- due to Shani de Gaulle could not adapt to power-sharing styles of rulership.

  • Due to L-11 = neechcha Guru, Difficulty of establishing friendships and maintaining popular support is much compounded by rigid royalty-hating Shani a fierce karma resistance to joining distributive and associative networks of Kumbha.

  • Despite what appeared to be some version of communism with his extraordinary dislike of accumulated capital he was really just an entitlement-hater.

  • Also a fierce resistance to accepting any more than survival earnings, de Gaulle per the self-defensive angrily austere Shani-4 in a hostile rashi and taking drishti of Mangala, was completely resistant to futuristic social movements (= his fundamental ideological conservatism).

Challenging Periods

  • Surya does not occupy the 6th, 8th, or 12th position in regard to any graha.

  • Therefore Vimshottari periods of Surya tend to flow smoothly.

Chandra

Meena-Chandra

= L-10, occupying bhava-6 Meena; Chandra accepts no Parashari drishti.

Uttarabhadrapada Chandra in 11 = emotionally defensive with a high organized and structured Fortress Orientation.

  • Chandra-uttarabhadra knows how to protect oneself, even against the threat of two world wars and constant infighting in the homeland.

  • Bill Gates; Steve Jobs ; Catherine Zeta-Jones

  • In bhava-11, Chandra has a natural compassion for the common participants in large networks = a strong compassion for the fighting foot-soldiers on the ground, the lowest position..

Due to Lord Guru in the neechcha bhanga state, and as lord of 10th-from-Soma, Lord Chandra =

[Factors including L-10 of navamsha = Mesha; Chandra's lord = Guru + Mangala; L-10 from Chandra = Guru + Mangala; Mangala = lord of Surya -- all work together to produce an extremely strong military career.]

L-3 Chandra in 11

  • lord of 3 = Chandra in 11 for Vrischika lagna will over mentalize. de Gaulle wrote a number of expository books describing indeed demanding the modernization of the antique French army. Seen as having inadequate respect for protocol (Rahu) he was largely ignored.

  • Chandra is however gainful in 11, at least in matters of publications and announcements. He earned some income from his writings but probably more important to him, he eventually was hailed as a authoritative writer and - rather too late perhaps - the necessary changes were made in training, armaments, etc as he described.

  • uchcha Mangala dristhi to bhava-3 = writing on military strategy and tactics.

  • neechcha Guru drishti gives a bombastic writing style plagued by overstatement

Example

  • Although he was well-educated with a strong foundation for his profession and he wrote important books in military science, Pres France 1944-1946; 1959-1969 Gen. Charles de Gaulle's military career was very unsettled and contentious until about 1941. His books were read more by the Germans (enemies) and criticized (6) by his own French colleagues.

  • Then he turned 50 and his Surya mahadasha began. By the onset of his Chandra mahadasha he was approaching 60 and his executive commands were obeyed.

  • Although he remained a somewhat controversial figure nevertheless he attained the presidency of France and was hailed internationally as a great hero.

Challenging Periods

Chandra occupies the awkward, inimical shad-ashtaka 6-8 angle-from-Shani.

  • Chandra-Shani definitely and Shani-Chandra in terms of shocks, these periods will be challenging.

  • All other time-periods of Chandra should flow smoothly.

Mangala

Makara Mangala uchchamsha =

L-7 Kuja = Maraka which places the native in almost constant contact with dangerous alliances. "close calls" while fighting . Mangala resides in the gainful 11th-from-Chandra; accepts Parashari drishti of Rahu.

Mangala also L-2 from Chandra = "double marana-karaka"

Challenging Periods

Mangala is an exceptionally powerful graha

  • Mangala does not occupy the 6th, 8th, or 12th position in regard to any graha.

  • Sub-periods of uchcha Mangala will move smoothly during all of the mahadasha periods EXCEPT Budha Mahadasha..

    • Graha in the 3rd-from-Budha can cause mental health disturbance, by either over-stimulating (Rajas) or under-activating (Tamas) the mental narrative.

    • Mangala will tend to over-stimulate the competitive and killing instincts; Guru tend to over-expand via over-confidence and increasing the scope of actions at the wrong time.

    • Therefore it is advised to be self-aware and self-correcting during the Budha-Mangala and Budha-Guru periods.

Budha

Vrischika-Budha = lord of domain 2 and 5; also L-4 and L-7 from Chandra-Meena

Budha + Surya + Shukra + Ketu, accepting Parashari drishti of Rahu.

  • Maraka L-2

  • In Vrischika-7, the professing is upon military philosophy and also the philosophy of transformation and death. of In bhava-2 = extraordinary yoga of 4/7- Budha + 11-Surya + 1/8-Shukra + Ketu, All of them in rine to Chandra .

Challenging Periods

Budha does not occupy the 6th, 8th, or 12th position in regard to any graha.

  • Sub-periods of Budha will move smoothly during all of the mahadasha periods.

  • Budha can improve spiritual awareness by bringing the native into contact with philosophical teachings.

Guru

Maraka-Guru

= the miserable neechcha lord of 8 and 11; however from Meena Chandra, Guru is lagnesha and L-10.

Although the pushkaraja, "pukhraj"(yellow sapphire) is not advised, Guru may give excellent results during His periods because Guru occupies swabhava with uchcha Kuja. IMO Guru does not obtain neechcha bhanga since no uchcha graha occupy His rashi,

Challenging Periods

  • Guru does not occupy the 6th, 8th, or 12th position in regard to any graha.

  • Sub-periods of Guru will move smoothly during all of the mahadasha periods.

Shukra

Vrischika-Shukra = auspicious lagnesha and lord of yuvati bhava; L-3 and L-8 from Chandra.

  • For the Rishabha-Meena combination, Shukra becomes lord of both 7 and 8; a dangerous graha who causes much upheaval and frequently exposes the native to the conditions of death. May be prescient of death .

  • In bhava-7 Shukra participates in an extraordinary yoga of Budha + Surya + Shukra + Ketu, all of them in intelligent, philosophical trine to Chandra.

Challenging Periods

Catastrophic emotional change may occur in the life environment of the native during periods of L-8 from Chandra.

  • Shukra does not occupy the 6th, 8th, or 12th position in regard to any graha.

  • Sub-periods of Shukra will move smoothly (if full of emergencies and high drama of fast changes) during all of the mahadasha periods.

Shani

Yogakaraka Simha-Shani = L-10 and L-11 from Chandra; located 6th-from-Chandra.

    Incoming drishti of aggressive Mangala.

Exceptionally well positioned to lead a nation, perhaps at great personal cost, but nevertheless a fundamentally egalitarian strength of social progress vision stabilizes this nativity and promises success.

  • Shani is very difficult in Simha, the rashi of his bitter enemy Ravi. However Shani does reasonably well in kendra-4 guaranteeing a firm foundation in schooling. Shani rules Time and it does take Time to reach one's goals. Therefore the leadership behavior is distinguished by persistence, self-discipline, and resistance to royal entitlements.

  • Although anti-royal-court and anti-privilege tShani-Simha is caught in the middle wanting some central focus of authority. Shani-Simha ends to be disdainful of mass movements of the hoi-polloi , and yet the karma of Shani enforces constant contact and responsibility toward very large, laterally networked social groups . Further, Shani = L-9 = worshipful public admiration. He wanted the authority but not the pomp and ceremony.

  • De Gaulle's ability to earn income and retain wealth was severely cramped kemadruma yoga (he died penniless).

  • De Gaulle's popularity (L-5 Budha and center-of-attention Surya) in the assembly of citizen-voters was always in flux and many nationalists rejected him repeatedly (Shani-4) . Over time, however Shani improves.

  • Mahadasha of L-4 Surya, L-3 Chandra, and L-7 Mangala allowed De Gaulle to maintain a stable period of governance in his elder years, from about age 60 onwards until death.

  • Classically for Shani, de Gaulle's historical reputation has much improved over the decades following his death , and he is now celebrated as one of the guiding lights who saved the western world from Nazi domination.

But he was not so much admired in his homeland during his lifetime!

Challenging Periods

It is recommended to wear the Blue Sapphire for Shani.

  • Gemstone Exceptions:

    • Shani occupies the 6th from Chandra, and Shani occupies the 8th-from Mangala and 8th-from-Guru.

    • Sub-periods of Shani-Mangala and Shani-Guru will be highly problematic.

    • During the Shani Mahadasha, remove the Shani-ratna for sub-periods of Chandra, Mangala, and Guru.

    • All other sub-periods of Shani will move smoothly during all other mahadasha periods.

RAHU

Rahu receives incoming drishti from

  • Shukra

  • Budha

  • Surya

  • Guru

  • Shani.

Vrishabha-Rahu = an extremely important graha in this nativity. In bhava-1; Ahi's lord = lagnesha Shukra mulatrikona L-6 conflicts in bhava-7 alliances.

  • Graha sending drishti INTO Rahu include the lords of 2, 4, 5, 8, 9, 10, 11- 75% of the total power of the nativity

  • Urgently Ambitious and desirous, taboo-breaking and catastrophically impulsive Rahu SENDS drishti to uchcha Mangala

  • MUTUAL DRISHTI with neechcha Guru.

  • In addition, Rahu SENDS OUT drishti to six graha: uchcha Mangala, Neechcha Bhanga Guru, Budha, lagnesha Shukra, Surya, and Ketu.

  • In fact, the only Graha which neither sends nor receives drishti vis-a-vis Rahu is the L-3 Chandra; and the one place he found lasting acceptance was as a writer.

  • Rahu's excessive influence on the nativity creates an extraordinary life situation, and one that must be handled with exceptionally high levels of consciousness. Rahu is clearly the agent of massive ambition to be involved in conflict via L-6 Shukra yet the instinct is diplomatic and alliance-building not self-destructive. Rahu is exalted in Vrishabha and as such He is at maximum urgency to rise into international recognition for the personality; Rahu may be a force for either great good or great evil. Only history will tell.

Challenging Periods

  • Rahu does not occupy the 6th, 8th, or 12th position in regard to any graha.

  • Sub-periods of Rahu will move smoothly during all of the mahadasha periods.

KETU

Vrischika-Ketu = in radix bhava-7, 9th-from-Chandra, lord = uchcha Mangala.

Vaidurya is normally not recommended for those who intend to be active in the world. It is more useful toward the end of life or at times of spiritual retreat. The present nativity is extremely active in the world, full of Raja Yoga and ready to fight.

Challenging Periods

  • Ketu does not occupy the 6th, 8th, or 12th position in regard to any graha.

  • Sub-periods of Ketu will move smoothly during all of the mahadasha periods.

    • controversial power-sharing Leader of the French Government in Exile (during German occupation)

    • despite the success of de Gaulle's military and political strategies and his contribution to the survival of the French spirit in a desperate time of foreign military occupation and abuse, there is much Animosity and constant struggle for leadership both in France and in exile

    • chosen as President of the Provisional Government of the French Republic 1944-1946 (during German occupation and during the chaos and despair, immediately afterward)

    Chandra Mahadasha

    • General Charles de Gaulle Vimshottari Dasha 2 - Barbara Pijan Lama JyotishaAge 57-67

    • L-10 = governance, leadership, regulation of society

    • The great war, WWII, is finished and an era of stable institutional ostensibly democratic government has begun.

    • Although his fundamental strategic and tactical leadershipcapabilities are never in question, de Gaulle's political fortunes move up and down during the period of L-10.

    • throughout Europe, there is constant struggle to re-establish social order (10) after the devastation of war

    • There is much internecine struggle in France, and de Gaulle must expend the lion's share of his governing energies into managing internal conflicts within his own country (Chandra-6).

    • Basically the entire nation is living in a state of post-traumatic shock. Very little genuine progress is possible while people are self-medicating or numb in response to the trauma. Also, many leaders are finally expressing interpersonal hostility toward each other for their join and collective failures during the recent catastrophe. Now that the world has become a bit more safe place to enjoy the traditional French art of petty squabbling it seems like everyone is angry and no one can cooperate even on small matters.

    • It is a very difficult time to try to lead a nation nevertheless it is the era of the L-10 Chandra for M. de Gaulle.

    • Chandra's lord Guru is exceptionally strong due to neechcha bhanga; de Gaulle maintains his position at the vanguard of national leadership, despite the undeniable emotional upsets (Soma/6) in his life and the lives of his people

    Mangala Mahadasha

    • Age 67-74

    • Uchcha L-2+L-7 from lagna

    • L-2+L-9 from Chandra

    • 18th President of the French Republic 1959-1969

    • Uchcha L-2+L-7 Mangala provides a period of powerful and largely uncontested leadership

    • double L-2 emphasizes death, wealth, FOOD, stored values, and an overarching (uchcha) capability to imposed order (Makara) by physical force (Mangala)

    • Mangala/Shukra period

    • L-2+L-7 Mangala is a potent maraka, and during the mahadasha of Kuja there were numerous attempts on De Gaulle's life. Various records suggest that enemy forces were constantly plotting and attempting to kill him during the

Mangala Mahadasha. However the time of death was not yet ready.

    • L-8 Shukra (conditions of death, threats of death, emergencies) = 22 August 1962 Assassination attempt to blow up his French-made Citroen car.

    Rahu Mahadasha

    • Age 74-until death age 79

    • Rahu in bhava-8 Vrishabha gives the effect of His lord L-1+L-8 Shukra

    • Shukra = L/8 from both radix lagna and Chandra lagna

    • continuation of 18th President of the French Republic 1959-1969

    Rahu-Shani period

    • Shani occupies 4th-from-Rahu and Shani casts drishti upon Rahu: prognosis for continued stability with extreme stress from responsibilities of ethical leadership [Shani/Simha] against pressures of emergency and hidden forces [Rahu/8]

    • eruption [Rahu-8] of widespread violence and destructive rioting in Paris in 1968 = Rahu/Guru - Guru = the highly problematic L-3+L-6 for Thula lagna.

    • Rahu in Vrishabha/8 wants a catastrophic upheaval (revolution) in collected wealth And stored resources (Vrishabha). Despite threats from Communist And Socialist insurgencies, de Gaulle's conservative leadership claim survived the riots.

    • sudden resignation [8] in 1969 (de Gaulle's age 79) after loss of a referendum regarding the reorganization of government = Rahu/Shani

    Death

    • Mangala-Shani period where Shani occupies 8th from Mangala. sudden death [8] on 09 November 1970 from heart attack [Shani Simha]. He died penniless having never accepted any government pensions (Rahu-1 receiving drishti of Shani who represents austerity and solidarity with the poor) for his decades of service.

    • de Gaulle's birth time is given as 04h00, which is unlikely. 16:00 works much better.
