Political figures
Warren G. Harding
|
 |
| |
|
|
Distinctive features of the Nativity:
|
Mangala-ruled
Mrigashira Nakshatra "sniffing out the news"
-
in lagna: ambitious, pursuing, instinctive, , masculine, vital, sporting, a 'player' a
participant, sexually inquisitive, an instigator, conversationally
pro-active, an interviewer, a journalist (he owned newspapers and like most newspapermen of
his day he wrote much of his own copy)
-
Mangala also dominating lord of the
navamsha where Kuja is independent of action and vigorously
competitive indeed
-
Budha: Harding was a noted speech-maker and career
newspaperman.
Budha enjoys
parivartamsha yoga with the neechcha
Shukra in radix, which produces a complex situation: Harding's
speeches were numerous and quite popular throughout his career, but he appealed to
the less patrician
audiences. Educated critics noted his constant grammatical
errors.
-
Budha in the
argumentative bhava-6 with Shani (rough or plebian) with
neechcha Surya (false confidence) and with Mangala
(argumentative, legalistic, challenging), imbalanced speech) .
-
bhava-6 (enemies) and
bhava-8 (secrets) blackmail=
Harding had a somewhat chequered reputation . He was a noted
philanderer (Shukra-Kanya), which created a significant election liability, but
he did not tell the Party about his long-standing indiscretions
until the threat of politically catastrophic scandal (6) had already
manifest. The cost of his apathy toward these consequences was a
major blackmail.
-
Karakamsha = bhava-8 = Harding's legacy and the behavior for
which he was indeed best known (most notorious) in his own day,
was the blackmail and various corruption scandals, secrecy, and
infidelity.
-
Yet with L-3 (news reporting)
Chandra in 12,
10th from swakshetra, Harding was able to prevent disclosure (to
continue to veil dissolve enclose, 12) most of his indiscretions and
maintain his public dignity (10th from). "Don't kid a kidder" as
they say - he was an experienced newspaperman and he knew how to
manage a "spin" (3, public relations media packaging).
-
L-10 navamsha Shani = uchcha in 6, conflict and
animosity, broken promises, bribery and corruption
-
Budha + Shani + Mangala +
Surya in Thula/6
= lifelong health problems, summarized as
"exhaustion".
-
L-2+ L-4+ L-5+ L-7+ L-9+ L-10, and L-12
occupy the house of illness, animosity, and loss of agreement.
-
Also, both of his parents were
physicians (6).
-
Uchcha Shani/6 = ability to succeed professionally
(Surya,
L-10 uchcha Shani)
in environments characterized by illness,
corruption, exploitation, imbalance
-
Another expression of the remarkable collection of
graha in bhava-6 of exploitation and broken promises was the exceptional
political corruption of Harding's administration, including the
notorious
"Teapot Dome" scandal in which numerous of his political appointees at top
levels of national leadership were convicted of large-scale bribery and
imprisoned. Harding famously said that he had no trouble from enemies, but
that his friends and their choices kept him awake at night.

| Women's Suffrage, Extramarital Romance and Marriage |
-
Lagnesha
Shukra =
Shukra in Bhava-5 =
neechcha Rahu in putrasthana = Romance and Politics.
-
Neechcha Shukra + Rahu provides
much trouble through women, which Harding certainly did
have.
-
Nevertheless a
parivartamsha yoga
with Budha provides great remediation, such
that undue association (Rahu) with females of exotic character was
suitably mixed with those women also possessing remarkably high
and articulate intelligence, because of the exchange.
-
So,
Harding's support for the women's suffrage (right
to vote) movement, no doubt urged strenuously by the various legal
and illegal women in his life, resulted in his winning the
presidential election in the first year that women were allowed to
vote (1921) in the USA.
-
Shukra + Rahu = agent of taboo-breaking
changes for women. (Thank you for the vote, Mr. Harding : )
-
Despite maintaining a
good social-facade relationship with his ambitious wife, Harding
was a philanderer, and
his main extramarital affair resulted
in a major blackmail situation.
-
Harding was quite a handsome
man = lagnesha Shukra
+ Rahu.
-
Rahu craves elevation to a higher social
station via various sorts of amusements: romance, literature,
poetry, politics, theatre, children, games, or creative performance.
-
His spouse (Shukra) was
socially exotic, a female divorcee in those days was rare and
taboo in the conservative-facade elite political circles
-
Conventional, sexually exclusive
marriage contract is disfavored : L-7 Mangala in bhava-6(dissolution of trust); Mangala = also the L-7 navamsha.
-
Neechcha Shukra + Rahu is also
unfavorable for conventional stability as the native does not
find his inner balance (Shukra)
-
He will project this inner awkwardness
(neechcha Shukra = imbalance) upon
the partner, finding her unattractive.
-
Ironically then due to Rahu the caldron of desire
, he will feel a great
hunger for this unsatisfying (neechcha Shukra) thing: pursuing
even more exotic and unbalanced women . However, the
parivartamsha of Shukra + Budha makes the spouse very clever
and the union is helpful in many ways.
-
Harding's political career and presidency were
rather undistinguished overall, with the salient exception of his
USA-Senatorial support for the women's suffrage (right to vote) movement.
Most commentators think he was powerfully motivated to take a positive
position on women's suffrage by his ambitious, dynamic and outspoken
wife.
-
The 19th Amendment giving American women the Right to Vote was
passed in August, 1920, during Harding's campaign for President.
Despite his lackluster record in public service, Harding was very
popular with women ( Rahu + Shukra lagnesha) and their interest in him
seemed to carry the election despite his being a nearly complete
'unknown' in the national political field.

Harding was a Freemason, raised to the

neologism; Budha is odd but successful
-

begins March 1921
-
eruption of the
Teapot Dome
Scandal, cabinet-wide corruption trials which shocked the nation
and probably pushed Harding to the brink of heart failure - L-4 Surya
[heart] neechcha in 6 with L-2+ L-5+ L-7+ L-9+ L-10, and L-12
-
Sudden death due to congestive heart failure,
while
traveling in western USA during the USA presidency: August 2,
1923
-
Thula graha = maraka L-2 Budha 28 deg, maraka L-7
Mangala 21 deg, Surya 20 deg, Shani 13 deg - therefore Shani a natural
maraka will do the bidding of the temporal marakas Budha and Mangala
who have the higher degrees in Thula. -
gochara Rahu-Ketu at the time of sudden death =
Rahu-Ketu in Simha-Kumbha - Ketu transiting bhava-10 contributes
confusion, apathy, and possibly despair over conditions of public
leadership and high office. Gochara Rahu in 4 , 12th-from-natal place,
creates intense feelings of loss in the heart. -
Guru/8 indicates a relatively short life. -
His wife died the next year from renal failure -
neechcha L-6 Shukra, kidney disease of the wife
