According to astrodatabank.com, all that is known about Benjamin Franklin's time of birth is that he was:

"christened on the Sunday of the morning that he was born".

Benjamin Franklin 1759

Ben Franklin Daily ScheduleKnowing the Sunday Service customs of the day, we can conjecture that he was born before noon, and very likely before 10, and quite conceivably some time rather early in the morning so that the family could have enough time to tidy up for Church.

Presumably his mother would have recovered enough from childbirth to be able to carry little Benjamin to the ceremony.

  • 0200 birth time (speculative) meets those conditions and places the karakamsha in lagna,

Thula lagna seems suitable for such a practical worker, revealer of electricity [Vishaka] , and distinguished diplomat who seems to be admired more with every passing year.

Mr. Franklin had marital problems, severe for his day: his first wife was married to someone else and thus legally only his concubine; she raised their children in common in addition to his son from a previous 'occasion' William.

  • He did have other romantic interests specifically in England (uchcha Rahu in 8);

  • and his eldest son who was illegitimate (a huge stigma in those days) eventually turned viciously against Ben, which would be represented by the neechcha Shani = lord of putra bhava.

Lagnesha Shukra in 3 indicates a life full of documents, scholarly commercial and political, specifically his self-owned printing business.

uchcha Guru in 10th and lord of 10th navamsha would account for his extraordinary mature life of world travel for purpose of learning, and the educator's perspective which he seemed to adopt on most subjects.

He was an exceptionally undogmatic writer, displaying a level of humorous neutrality rather rare in his ideologically contentious era, due probably to the strength of articulatory Budha and corresponding weakness of lowest-common-denominator Shani.

Notably, he advised his son that older women (Shani-7) make better partners, despite the popular beliefs being quite the contrary.

Surya + L-9 Budha in 4 could make a distinguished patriot.

I do think there is a strong case for Franklin's nativity correctly drawn from a Thula lagna. Indeed the gadabout Mrigashira lagna in navamsha that would result does seem to fit his traveling inquiring masculine personality quite well.

He is absolutely one of my favorite writers and I never tire of reading Franklin's Autobiography, or any of the aphorisms which he snatched from the folk wisdom of the farmers living around him.

all that is true, all that is noble,

all that is just and pure,

all that is loveable and gracious,

whatever is excellent and admirable -

fill all your thoughts with these things."
