Mrs. Ford loved dance and fashion. She was born on the day before the New Moon. Her first marriage endured four years, and produced no children. When divorce was initiated, her alcoholic first husband entered a diabetic coma and was expected to die. However he survived and divorce karma replaced death karma (as it so often does in the modern world).

Mrs. Ford's second marriage represented by her Shani-Chandra parivartamsha contained many challenges particularly drug addiction (Chandra+Shukra-6). Yet marriage-2 also produced four wonderful children and a dignified lifestyle with a husband in high government service (Shani) and her own medical service to others (6) via addictions clinic (6) caused a great raise in her public respect (Shani). Her reputation now exceeds that of her distinguished second husband.

Elizabeth Ann Bloomer Warren, popularly known as "Betty" Ford, was First Lady of the United States from 1974 to 1977 during the presidency of her husband Gerald R. Ford, USA Pres-38.

• "After the 1929 stock market crash, when Ford was age 14, she began modeling clothes and teaching children dances such as the foxtrot, waltz, and big apple. ... She studied dance.... graduating in 1935.[her age 17]

• history of alcohol abuse since her teens; father and first husband were alcoholics.
• became addicted to prescription painkillers; nervous breakdown and psychiatric care in 1965
• breast cancer leading to mastectomy on 9/26/1974 which she announced publicly to raise awareness of the disease; for this courage she is widely respected and remembered as an outspoken honest woman sincerely concerned with the welfare of all women

• the drugs + alcohol dependency continued to worsen however. Soon after her husband lost the presidential election of 1976, a secret service agent who was dating Betty's daughter mentioned that an emergency was waiting to happen due to Betty's escalating addictions.

• Betty's daughter Susan spearheaded a family intervention and counseling on 4/01/1978, resulting in Ford's admission to rehab. In dealing very, very publically with her illnesses and addictions, Betty had ironically found her niche.

• In 1981, she and friends founded the Betty Ford Clinic for subtance addiction recovery.

• Also ironically, the Betty Ford clinic is much better known than her husband's presidency, and her grace under pressure is often recalled while her husband's stumbling uncertainty in an awkward, unelected presidency is largely forgotten. 10th navamsha = Mesha, professional dancer

They were married for 58 years, 1948 until 2006.

No matter what the spin-doctors might have said in order to promote a wholesome and trustworthy image of Gerald R. Ford, the years of Ford's early upbringing could not have been easy.

Budha = L-3+L-6 from lagna, Budha accepts drishti of Budha's enemy Mangala (sport, competition), and Budha rules the 8-11 from Chandra. No trine angles are active.

The relationship with the parents esp the mother is mysterious, hidden, and most likely strained while she produced and raised three more children. Anuradha Chandra "makes agreements under pressure".

While never especially distinguished in displays of leadership, and never even approaching brilliance, Ford's performance record was adequately appreciated in a conservative district and his unwavering support for monied interests (Shukra Vrishabha in 2 + Shani L-10 career) produced a successful meld.

There is still no trinal effect in the Vimshottari Dasha, from birth until age 51.

• Having served 24 years in Congress without drafting a single piece of major legislation, Ford was accustomed to the role of broker not initiator. He had been asked to run for both Senator and Michigan Governor but had declined those high-visibility roles. Neverthless he was loyal (Chandra) to his Republican party that had helped him get re-elected 12 times in succession.

• So when the officially elected Vice President Mr. Spiro Agnew was forced to resign during a corruption scandal which revealed large-scale bribery and deceit, Ford accepted the political leap (Rahu-5) to the much higher prestige role of replacement VP.

• Vice President December 6, 1973 - August 9, 1974 = USA Vice President

• This Rahu-driven agreement was to have remarkable consequences

Chandra-Shani period:

• August 9, 1974 until January 20, 1977 = sudden, unsought appointment = 38th USA President

When USA Pres-37 Nixon was forced to resign during the Watergate scandal, Ford was largely forced to become USA President-38.

Ford did not campaign for the Presidential role. He did not ask to be President and by all accounts he did not want the responsibility, the exposure, the criticism, or the day-to-day lifestyle. Betty might have wanted the job - and this like most political careers was indeed a two-person career. Ford likely accepted the duties from a deep sense of patriotic obligation, as Chandra rules bandhu bhava.

In any case the only real success of his tenure was maintenance of national stability (Chandra, Shani) during a period of profound popular distress over the moral failings of government.
