~~ Margaret Thatcher

"I'm extraordinarily patient, provided I get my own way in the end."

Compare to other:

Margaret Thatcher Shad Bala - BP Lama Jyotisha

Chitra, for females

  • from ~~ Shil-Ponde. (1939).

  • Hindu Astrology Joytisha-Shastra.p 96.

  • "An expensive and luxurious person.

    • One who is fond of clothes and beautiful surroundings and revels in them.

    • She spends much money on jewels , perfumes, cosmetics

      • and her taste in these matters is expensive.

    • She likes to change costumes several times a day

      • and always look like an animated fashion plate.

    • Variety is the spice of life to this woman

      • and she will be inconstant and fickle in love affairs,

      • having many during her life and marrying often.

    • Many actresses, musicians, artists and Opera singers have Chitra rising.

    • If she is born on the day before the New Moon, with this asterism rising,

      • she will have a husband who will die four years after her marriage to him

      • and she will never have any children.

    • If she is born with Chitra on the Rising Point on the day before the Full Moon,

      • she will be immoral and promiscuous in her love affairs

      • and will support some of her lovers or spend money on them

      • and she will die in poverty."

Shani in Vishaka Lagna, from Shil-Ponde. (1939).

    Hindu Astrology Joytisha-Shastra.p 162.

"Arrogant and bold - slow in speech and disparaging to others.

A revengeful, sarcastic nature, secretive and vindictive.

Possesses at times even murderous tendencies.

    One makes many enemies;

    is extremely unfortunate and is liable to be sentenced to prison;

    is selfish and cruel".

    Prominent Features of the Nativity

Rahu in bhava-10 = dramatic rise to leadership roles, under taboo-breaking, illicit, or culturally irregular (Rahu) circumstances.

    • Often a glass-ceiling crasher, able to break gender-race-age barriers in conservative professional roles.

      • May challenge conventional standards in the style of ascendancy to the high ranking position.

    • Rahu swabhukti is especially intense, exposing the native 's life to the public eye.

    • Diverse responsibilities, executive empowerment involving contact with outsider, foreign elements, world governments.

    • Best results in Vrishabha (uchcha, wealth) and Kumbha (own sign, widely distributed networks) but all rashi will yield publicity and leadership power. Rahu gives best results in 3, 6, 10 and 11.

    • Ketu in bhava-4 - rarely at home, usually out doing Rahu's public high visibility roles

    • drishti of L-9 uchchamsha Yogakaraka Shani + L-9 Budha upon Yuvati bhava (Mesha).

    • L-5 + L-9 are co-tenants of Tanu bhava (house-1) = a very powerful Raja Yoga which grants kingship even though Mrs. Thatcher was not born into a ruling family (or secretly was she?)

  • Thula lagna = famous lagna for large-scale service to the masses

  • Yogakaraka Shani

    • Shani= extremely powerful in D-1, D-9, and D-10

    • Shani= lord of 10th navamsha, the main indicator for career

    • Shani = uchcha and yuti L-9 (Budha) in lagna

  • Karakamsha= radix lagna = powerful destiny (cf. Mother Teresa, Angelina Jolie)

  • Like George W. Bush and other distinguished leaders of their generations, Mrs. Thatcher's radix exemplifies the strong form of 4/10 Kala-Sarpa Yoga.

    • Similar to many of her Kala-Sarpa colleagues, Mrs. Thatcher has been active in Public Serviceduring her entire life.

    According to Behari, [Shani/Thula/1]

    • "... is very auspicious, bestowing much honor, power andleadership, high status, wealth, extensive renownand social leadershipto you who are exceptionally gifted.

    • You have enduring health. In spite of an otherwise well-proportioned body, depression persists in your countenance.

    • You are not very careful about your clothes.

    • You may indulge in a tawdryor socially unacceptable relationship or covet another's' spouse or wealth and suffer humiliation and loss of prestige at some time or other."

  • Mrs. Thatcher's spouse was rather typical of the vigorous, sporting, and competitive marriage partners of highly capable Thula lagna women like Hillary Clinton, UK Princess Anne Laurence and businesswoman Martha Stewart .

  • He had been a competitive businessman and had built significant wealth (Mangala = L-2) but he remained a simple man. Whilst she was conducting complex affairs of state for decades, Mrs. Thatcher's husband Denis Thatcher was mainly known for his former soldiering exploits and his passion for rugby.

  • L-7 Mangala is weakened by combustion (asta) being only 10 degrees away from Surya, and also Mangala occupies vyaya bhava; therefore Mrs. Thatcher had to manage only one marriage.

  • L-1+L-8 Shukra Mahadasha

    Shukra rules 3rd- and 10th-from-Chandra

    • Her conservative political convictions were established essentially in childhood, powerful era of the lagnesha.

    • Her father was an elected official actively engaged in the issues of the day, which he discussed with her. L-9 for father, rising with uchcha Shani. (However also note Surya is relatively weak in radix, navamsha, and dashamsha, indicating that her father himself would retain a modest position.)

    • In student politics at Oxford (Somerville College 1943-47) she made herself known to key political figures of the day.

    • Shukra+L4-L5 Shani then Shukra+L9-L12 Budha provided young Margaret Roberts with a superior education including scientific research (L-12) under a Nobel-prize winning female professor.

    L-11 Surya Mahadasha

    Surya rules Chandra lagna

    • Surya being 11th-lord, Thatcher spent most of the 6 years of Surya Mahadasha building networks of friendship and mutual political benefits

    • Thatcher started running for office as early as Surya/Rahu, although with limited success.

    • Ms. Thatcher's Surya is relatively weak as L-11 in Kanya-12. Her goals including fulfillment of conventional expectations that she should marry and reproduce. Nevertheless true to Kala-Sarpa distinction, .

    • In Surya/Rahu she was married to a divorced man (a taboo-breaking event, note her KalaSarpa yoga) and in Surya+L-5 Budha her twin children were born.

    • Typical of L-7 = Mangala, her husband's was a successful businessman but his strongest social identity was his military service in WW-2, followed by his lifelong involvement in voluntary military service and rugby sport.

    L-10 Chandra Mahadasha

    1955-1965 = age 29-39

    L-10 from Thula lagna

    Chandra rules 12th-from-Chandra

    • L-10 in radix and lord of Kala-Sarpa Rahu -- plus --L-4 with uchcha Guru in Dashamsha.

    • Chandra has the power to propel Mrs. Thatcher into high positions of political responsibility.

    • Chandra/Rahu where Rahu occupies 12th-from-Chandra would have been a difficult period with struggle in the private world of imagination and behind-closed-doors relationships.

    • Chandra/Guru= elected to Parliament = age 32 in 1958.

    L-2+L-7 Kuja Mahadasha

    Kuja = Yogakaraka from Chandra lagna;

    Kuja rules 4th- and 9th-from-Chandra

When the Conservatives returned to office in 1970, under the premiership of Edward Heath, Thatcher achieved cabinet rank as Education Secretary during Kuja+L-9 Budha.

    • L-2+L-7 Mars is not an easy planet for her, residing in the confused and dissolving 12th house.

    • Margaret Thatcher did not enjoy being Education Minister. Her Education tenure extended through early 1970s student radicalism and rough-riding, adversarial British politics at its most unpleasant.

    • Government supported Education seemed to be moving inescapably leftward, against her positively determined conservative guidance. She became greatly unpopular in the press and her speeches were heckled by protestors.

Despite the difficulties, Kuja sustained Thatcher throughout the

    Mangala Mahadasha.Kuja's beneficial effects include:

    • Lord of the Dashamsha

    • lord of of neechha bhanga Shani occupying D-10 lagna

    • yuti swakshetra dashamsha Shukra

Kuja had plenty of go-power to keep her in politics during his 7-year reign.

    Rahu Mahadasha-

Rahu occupies karma bhava and Rahu amplifies effects of L-10 Chandra

    1972-1990 = age 46-64

She wields an increasingly large influence, first in UK and then in the world.

    • The Heath Government 1970-74 did rather poorly, suffering hypocrisy and disappointment nationwide. It left behind a huge mess of inflation, unemployment, and resentment. Margaret, just entering her powerful Rahu Mahadasha, was ready and willing to help "clean up".

    • Rahu/Rahu Margaret Thatcher ran against Heath for the leadership, and won Leader of the Opposition in the House of Commons.

      • she broke through long-standing cultural barriers of class and gender [Rahu] when she was elected PM in her Rahu/Rahu period.

      • Ms. Thatcher's Rahu placement is exceptionally strong in Karkata-10 for leadership,

      • while Rahu's lord L-10 Chandra is confident and dignified in Magha-11,

      • and Rahu in navamsha = yuti the atmakaraka Surya while Surya = lord of 11 in radix for goals and achievements.

    • Rahu/Shani elected Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Great economic difficulties in the land.

    • Rahu/Budha [spring 1982] Budha = L-12 in lagna (compare to Mahatma Gandhi and Hillary Clinton )= distant lands; Thatcher achieves tremendous popularity for her aggressive handling of Falklands War

    • Rahu/Shukra:[Oct. 1984] Shukra = L-8 = conditions of death (not actual death, but attempted murder, hidden threats, mysterious diseases, etc.)

      • Attempted Irish Republican Army (IRA) assassination comes very close; many of her colleagues among the wounded and

dead in a Brighton hotel.L-8 Shukra occupies maraka-bhava-2. Just a good scare, due to Shukra's strength in D-10.

      • Rahu/Shukra also includes the "Westland Affair" = financial misdeeds, which was a bit of a political death-knell for her.

    • Rahu/Surya saw a Third Thatcher Government in place. This makes sense from the dashamsha, where Rahu aspects Surya in dashamsha's 10th house, giving great strength even after a quite long run.

      • Surya in 3rd-from-Rahu indicates a successful internal administration with good financial accounting and record-keeping practices due to Kuja/Kanya.

    magthatcher_dasha2.GIF

    Guru Mahadasha-

    • L-3+L-6 from Thula lagna

    • Guru rules 5th- and 8th-from-Chandra

    • age 64-80

Guru/Guru saw her party withdraw its support(8th) for a Fourth Thatcher Government when she turned 64..

    • L-3+L-6 Guru = a highly troublesome graha for Thula lagna.

    • Guru is not connected with her extraordinarily powerful kala-sarpa nodes.

    • The fact that Guru = uchcha in dashamsha is not enough to sustain an active political career,

      • although as dashamsha L-9 Brihaspati is very successful for publishing books (dharma bhava rules academic publishing)

Guru Mahadashawas a period of attending to the Thatcher Foundation, and enjoying her Barony.

Thathcer is not a popular figure in Europe (or anywhere else) during her Guru Mahadasha,

but when Shani starts in 2006 her reputation will greatly improve.

Under Shani, she may well be called back to active statesmanship!

    Yogakaraka L-4+L-5 Shani Mahadasha-age 80-99
    • Kuja= maraka, when the time comes.
