Alzheimer's patient, 1994-2004 (There is no legitimately recorded birth time for Ronald Reagan, in either his State of Illinois BC or his family Bible or even records of family members.  My assigned birth time of 0505 CST is speculative, based on timing of his marriages, children, & elections - but there is much astrological consensus for a pre-dawn birth. Family stories corroborate a sunrise, soon after Baby Ronald's birth.  Keep in mind that the vargas we use here - navamsha & very importantly dashamsha - may need to be adjusted if new information comes to light.) Chandra Mahadasha - age 13-23 The extraordinary charisma that Reagan sustained from high school until his retirement, can be attributed to Rahu yuti Chandra, within 10 seconds of orb, plus Rahu yuti Chandra as a feature of virtually all the varga charts.   Reagan's radix chart does not feature the classic Kala Sarpa Yoga of many world leaders, but rather a modified version with three planets occupying the Rahu-Ketu axis. During his high school and college years, Reagan enjoyed great charisma as student council president in high school, and a celebrity football player in college. Chandra is Kuja's dispositor, so Moon's period "wakes up" the athletic vigor & theatrical skills of rising Mars. (& probably a few secret  romances, given that Kuja is L-12.) Mangala Mahadasha - age 23-30 Reagan's entertainment career started to gain momentum at the onset of Mangala Mahadasha, when his radio sports-casting personality became popular and his voice personality got noticed. Mars the athlete-karaka is strong by shad-bala -->.  Mars gains strength as the Moon's lord. Kuja in tanu bhava gives masculine energy & a sporting, collegial style. Mangala's dispositor Guru occupies the 11th house of associations, networks, and large groups.  With Budha dominating Kuja by degree, Reagan has almost miraculous power to communicate entertaining, positive energy to large groups. Mangala occupies the 11th dashamsha, where He is again ruled by Guru.  In dashamsha Mangala shows good fortune through much enthusiastic networking and expansive associations. Kuja/Shani, where Kuja is lord of 5th house of theatre while Shani is L-2 for voice and L-3 for courage - an the characteristic success planet for world leaders - starts off Reagan's acting career with a major film studio contract in 1937.  "Reagan's clear voice and athletic physique made him popular" in movies. Note the highly auspicious L-9 Surya in radix  dhana bhava - excellent for Voice, the core of his charisma.  Sun does poorly in Makara as a rule, and Reagan was certainly never a chanteur!  But L-9 is good for him because Surya's dispositor is the mysterious neeccha banga Shani in 5th house of theatre & politics. Most importantly, Shani is L-10 in dashamsha. There are many correlations of auspicious radix significations to be found in dashamsha.  E.g., Shani is lord of 5th dashamsha containing uccha Budha.  Kuja/Shani is a fortunate period for Reagan's career. Kuja/Shukra while gochara Rahu-Ketu in Aries/Libra crossed Reagan's radix nodes, navamsha nodes, radix moon, and navamsha moon - wow - gave the first marriage to actress Jane Wyman in January 1940. Kuja/Surya where Ravi is L-9, gave the first child, in January 1941. Das Goravani says of Budha yuti Kuja "Your intellect and energy have teamed up in this life. You are not the kind of person who studies without acting, rather what you think deep inside flows out into your actual activities. Rahu/Budha, when gochara nodes crossed his navamsha lagna, with Budha who is L-2 /navamsha, gave an auspicious second marriage.  BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY for career prospects Budha is also Shani's dashamsha uccha 5th lord - extremely auspicious, bringing much love & bhagya (fortune) into his life. Through the auspices of the bhagya second wife, Reagan entered into friendly relationships with groups of wealthy, influential people.  Budha is L-7/L-10 in radix, an exceptionally powerful career planet. (Surya owned & aspected by Shani in house-2 gives the second wife an unusually small body.) During Rahu's mahadasha Reagan's wealth and fame increased dramatically, largely due to his remarkable ability to identify himself with "special interests".  Rahu gives the results of his lord Mars who occupies Dhanus, a friendly sign of wealth.  "Mars placed in friendly sign will make one protect the wealth of friends."   - Saravali Ch. 45, shloka 12-14  Guru Mahadasha - age 48-64 Radix Guru is highly auspicious as lord of two kendras - the lagna for physical appearance, and 4th house of patriotism, love of homeland - whilst residing in the 11th house of friends and income.   More importantly, Guru mahadasha "wakes up" his remarkably entertaining and articulate Budha which occupies Dhanus in both radix & navamsha.  Budha being Shani's lord (Shani is key to high leadership positions) plus exalted in dashamsha's 5th house of political theatre, Guru mahadasha creates Reagan's sudden successful entrance into world-stage politics. As Guru "wakes up" Budha in 5th navamsha, wife's charisma opens as well, and it dovetailed perfectly with his because Budha is vargottama. Guru/Ketu might seem an unusual period to start a world leadership career from scratch!  But consider that Ketu amplifies his co-tenant Guru, whilst also magnifying the powers of his lord Shukra who is dashamsha lord too. Having held no previous political office, but possessed of extraordinary public appeal and a remarkable Voice, while supported by a range of wealthy conservative donors (Guru/Ketu in 11th house while Shukra is L-11), he rather miraculously was elected Republican Governor of California in autumn 1966. Labha bhava, house of gains through networks of association. Reagan, with the help of his devoted wife, was connected to some extremely influential business interests. Venus in the 7th-from-arudha-lagna [Kumbha = 7th-from-arudhalagna-Simha] also upgrades Reagan's wealth. For these leaders Shani nearly always plays a significant role in dashamsha. Shani periods deliver great responsibility - whether or not the individual is prepared to handle it.  Shani with the nodes can give a terrible power and crushing responsibilities.  Shani/Budha, where Budha is L-7/L10 in charge of career, and lord of Shani-dashamsha (not to mention Budha controls Kuja who is lord of Shani-radix), gave Reagan election to the office of President of USA in Nov. 1980. However he lacks personal control over the elevation process, becoming somewhat of a puppet due to the degrading influence of debilitated Shani.  True Gaja Kesari yoga, the normal result of Chandra-Guru opposition in friendly signs receiving benefic aspect, would make a religious scholar and a pure heart.  That is not possible in this planetary situation due to this unfortunate Shani. Shani as owner of the 2nd house of speech and Budha his exalted dashamsha lord, gave The Great Communicator an international audience. Being age 69-77 in the eight years of his presidency, his emotional, mental, and spiritual maturity would have been an asset to Reagan. Also Shani by his nature is strongly conservative, staunchly traditionalist, favoring caste systems and social hierarchies.  Conservative Republic Reagan was swept into power on a "conservative backlash" following the arch-liberal presidency of Jimmy Carter. Shani/Budha, whilst Ketu/Rahu transited the death axis 2/8, Reagan was shot at close range on on 30-Mar-1981 by John Hinckley.  Budha as L-7 might have killed him.  Chandra as L-8 dictates Reagan should die of brain problems (Mesha), combined with breathing restrictions from Shani.  But Chandra also predicates death at a great age, due to the longevity extension of uccha Shani. The Great Communicator and former cowboy shoot-out actor said to his wife Nancy, "Honey I forgot to duck." Budha Mahadasha - age 83-94 Budha/Budha 1994 Reagan retired from public life and his family announced that he was suffering from Alzheimer's disease.   Note memory-karaka Budha yuti 12th-lord Kuja.
