Body Energy Meters How to ask the body whether something is good for you Q: Thanks for your reading and positive suggestions about developing my Jewish female healers capabilities. As you know I've been involved in healing for many years as a licensed psychotherapist, drug recovery counselor, and for the last ten years, counseling Buddhist meditation students. My question has to do with exhaustion. I'm mid-way through my sixth decade of life, and it's OK with me to slow down a little. I've had a very busy life, but I realize that I've felt driven most of the time by fear of criticism and deep down fear of failure. Most of my professional - healing - work leaves me seriously exhausted. I help people mainly because I feel guilty about not helping them - given my high levels of therapeutic expertise (I was also a clinical professor for many years) it seems immoral not to help people in need even when I am exhausted. p>Anyway I am, I realize, just utterly exhausted. I feel criticized and inadequate around the men in my life (husband, father, brother, rabbi, meditation teacher, male psychologists in my town).I'd like to get started on some of the Holocaust Healing work that you suggested, and considering all the suicides and fear patterns running through my family I *know* you are right and I believe I *should* join some of the healing groups going to meditate in the German-Polish death camps, as well as get involved with some of the more enlightened Jewish healers I've heard speak on this hideous subject. But Barbara I just feel too tired. Can you tell me about the tiredness? Is this a psychic thing or am I just being selfish again and not doing something that I really should do, for myself and my community? A: You have such pure ethical energy, it's beautiful to see in your charts. I'm delighted that you are interested in and have contact with healers working within your religious tradition. As H.H. Dalai Lama often says, it is much better to work within the religious tradition of one's upbringing, if at all possible. He allows that people do sometimes need to switch traditions for karmic reasons, but I've heard him mention numerous times how much simpler and straightforward it is to not have to adopt a whole new set of cultural customs by switching religions in midstream, as it were... the problem being that religions are embedded in cultures, and it's hard to practice a new religion without taking on a lot of new cultural information too. Just slows us down. So, I'm delighted that you as a truly gifted healer can make a profound healing connection to others working within your birth tradition. Now, the matter of physical energy, vitality, and exhaustion is *extremely* important. First, please visit a medical doctor - naturopathic is best - and factor out any physical imbalance that could be causing the heaviness and despair. Even psychics have to go to the doctor. Second, take the advice of the doctor. Anything the doctor says to do in terms of diet, rest, medications, whatever they propose, should be followed. Don't substitute psychic information for physical information. (However if the physician prescribes questionable surgeries or toxic chemicals, stick to naturopathy and get several medical opinions!)
Always ask your body. When Sun/Saturn is strong the person (you) has a strong tendency to rationalize, accept far too much responsibility, and substitute works for faith. This custom is enforced by the culture of the father. Esp. for an educated female it is necessary to reclaim permission to check in with the body. The body has its own voice and intelligence. The body will be able to tell you whether it feels enthusiastic and energetic toward a certain activity, or whether its reserves are too low to enjoy and profit from a potential experience. Your body can communicate with you in a very simple and direct, kindergarten way:
You may have to approach the issue of permission to ask the body from a mentalistic point of view at first. But even if initially you must make the meditative discipline of asking your body for an energy reading into a bit of a rational regime, remember that female health depends on asking the body.It is true that we all, western men and women, live in a rationalistic culture where male values dominate. Psychic healers much counterbalance excessive rational analysis by consciously and proactively developing body intuition. The body will provide a simple, clear, reliable feedback that can help you make almost any decision from whether to go grocery shopping to whether to run for public office. p>Ask your body. |
