Rashi Lagna
Om Keshavaya Namah
Mithuna lagna - 9 Graha |

Surya
L-3
|
Surya = karaka for divinely reasonable self,
"enlightenment" and brilliance, soul, and ethical
awareness, controls the house of self-narrative, announcements, writing
and publications, business administration and commerce, sales,
marketing, advertising, and talk. Handwriting and tool-using quality
depends on the disposition of Surya.
Center of
Attention, High-Visibility Public Roles
Surya=
karaka for career as a
vehicle for
public recognition,
As L-3 for Mithuna,
Ravi places the native in center stage in
fields of business administration (3) and
skills of writing, publishing, reports,
announcements, planning, scheduling,
meetings and
teamwork (3) .
Surya's favored
communications environments include sales,
marketing, advertising, media production (films, internet
content, video, visual arts, music, etc.) short-journey services (holiday and business travel),
seminars and conferences, editing, technical
training that has commercial utility; information-packaging;
skilled
work with the hands including painting, scribe
or transcription, tool-using, type-setting, inks and
literary press.

"In the birth chart of Gemini
(Mithuna) Ascendant, Sun is the lord of the 3rd house.
-
It will not be
useful for the native of this Ascendant unless Sun is in his own
sign in the third house.
-
Even then, it should be worn [only] in
the major period of Sun when it will make the native courageous and
successful in all his ventures. "

Chandra
L-2
Treasuries of wealth and
knowledge
family of origin, historic
values, lineage, stories and tales, speech
+ song, face + hair, right eye, money +
death
|
Double-trouble from Chandra:
+ Chandra L-2 = an
enemy
of lagnesha Budha
+ Chandra L-2 = an
enemy of Shukra
the natural 2nd lord
The highly
fluctuating and impressionable home-loving Chandra becomes a
conserver,
conservator and conservationist
in His role as lord of the house
of the Treasury.
There is a particular affinity for
preservation of marine and
sea-coast environments. Similar
to Mesha lagna, the native may be happiest
when making one's home near the sea.
The lineage cultural
values of the family history are deeply influenced by the condition of Chandra.
For example,
-
if Chandra = yuti Ketu, the native 's
family may be perfectly stable and organized, but the native will not
learn to connect emotionally with others and may lack empathy - none of
which is seen as detrimental by the family history, since they will
value detachment and reserve as manifest by Ketu. -
The
family historyproblems of the famed English writer
Virginia
Woolf are well documented. Woolf's Chandra = yuti neechcha Shani (a
very difficult Nishturabhasi Yoga similar to
Mother
Teresa) occurring in bhava-11, bhava of the elder brother.
-
She
was sexually abused by her brother(s) throughout childhood although
the family did nothing to stop the behavior. -
In addition her mother
was absent and her parents carried on an emotionally destructive
lifestyle. -
None of this of course diminished her literary talent, and
in fact may have fueled it. -
Nevertheless her life ended in suicide,
attributable partly to great karmic difficulties with Chandra = family.
By
contrast, the Mithuna native with a strong and healthy Moon may enjoy
a vibrant and deeply supportive relationship to the family historyalong with luxurious (Laxmi) wealth. The nativity of
Bill Gates,
Jr. shows a lovely Uttarabhadrapada
Chandra in bhava-10, indicating ceteris paribushis
parents' lifelong commitment to public service leadership in
charitable works.
Mahadasha of
Chandra L-2 indicates 10 years of values-accumulation,
language and history learning, and "focus on family".
-
One will speak from an
emotional foundation, and generally one's speech will be
hailed by the more conservative, historically inclined
audience. It is not a time for innovation but rather for
deepening the ethnic and cultural roots. the native becomes conservative, wealthy, knowledgeable, and
well-fed. -
If Chandra is well disposed the native will eat and drink delicious nourishment. -
If Chandra is poorly disposed,
matters of the mouth including tongue, teeth, and voice
may become problematic. -
Chandra is a maraka for the
Mithuna lagna; Guru-Chandra and Chandra-Guru periods are
both candidate triggers for separation from the fleshly
body.

Remedial and
Supportive Gems for Chandra - Moti
(pure natural Pearl)
From: Dr. G. S. Kapoor. (1994).
Gems

-
"For the Gemini Ascendant,
Moon is lord of the 2nd house, the house of wealth.
-
Second house is
the house of death also (maraka house).
-
Therefore, Pearl may not prove
very suitable.
-
If in a nativity
-
Moon as lord of
the second is exalted in the 12th,
-
and be in his own sign or be in the
11th, 10th or 9th house,
-
the wearing of a Pearl will prove beneficial,
in the major period of Moon.
-
On the whole, however,
Pearl is
not a very agreeable stone for this ascendant as
Mercury
the lord of the Ascendant is not friendly with Moon. ."

|
Kuja
L-6+ L-11
"triple trouble"
|
Triple-trouble from Mangala:
+ Mangala
L-11 = sees lagnesha Budha as an
enemy
+ Mangala L-11 = enemy
of Shani the natural 11th lord
+ Mangala L-6 sees natural 6th lord Budha as
enemy
As lord of
6th and 6th-from-6th, Kuja
is a highly adversarial graha for Mithuna lagna. Jyotisha assessment
of Kuja's effects must be particularly careful.
The placement of
Mangala will determine the range of
animosity, debt, disease, divorce, and
also the scope of gains of marketplace
income and the condition of the friendship
networks. No matter how well-placed Kuja
might be,
Periods of Mangala are likely to
encourage marital conflict and personal
illness or injury, even while these same
periods are materially gainful. In general
"gain from pollution, criminal deeds,
exploitation, and broken contracts". Vital and competitive Kuja controls the warlike
house of enemies and disease, as well as the networking, profitable
11th house of goals and achievements.
-
As L-11 = circles of
friendship, Mangala lord of Mesha encourages the native to
prefer muscular sport or dance as the means of group socializing.
As a general
rule, Kuja is good for earnings if in a
friendly rashi.
Mangala
yuti lagnesha Budha creates a
personality that is highly contentious
and verbally energized in the pursuit of
gainful argument.
-
The best
profession for this combination =
"professional arguer and critic"
nearly always an attorney, and if
Mangala is strong in kendra, such a
litigious individual may be very
successful in handling even the most
aggressive accusations against one's
legal clients. -
See
environmental attorney for just
such a splendid combination doing
social good in the law courts and
earning well, where normally the
Kuja-Budha pair would be very unhappy
together.
Kuja mahadasha
strengthens the relationship with the elder male sibling
or cousin, who becomes a dominant force in the life
during those six years. The elder sibling and later-life
male friends and mentors are of sporting character, who enjoy vigorous and
competitive outdoor activities.
-
If Kuja is ill-disposed (esp.
in Kanya, rashi of Kuja's
enemy
Budha) it is quite unfavorable for friendship, as the native tends to criticize one's friends and eventually
argue with them. However the Kuja-Kanya native will be
gainful in the marketplace due to writing or editing
skills. Excellent for the critical literary editor or
writer.
Mithuna Nativities with Chandra in a
Nakshatraof Rahu or
Guru will most likely not live long enough to experience the
Mangala
Mahadasha, and thus they escape the sustained effects of L-6+L-11
chronic animosity and illness that often
harm a Mithuna native.
Kuja is an especially difficult graha
for Mithuna nativities in which Kuja = L-6 from both radix
lagna (material animosity) and Chandra lagna (emotional
imbalance):
-
Mithuna radix lagna + Mithuna Chandra
-
Mithuna radix lagna + Vrischika
Chandra -
Mithuna Chandra +
Vrischika
lagna
E.g., in the life of
Albert
Einstein = Mithuna lagna + Vrischika Chandra:
-
His
Kuja mahadasha began
in late 1931 -
he was forced to leave wartime Germany due to
Adolph Hitler's Third
Reich attacks on Jews. -
After much upheaval, both personal and
professional, his second wife died and he became ill.
L-6 Kuja in bhava-1, bhava-4, or bhava-12
Of these,
Kuja-Kanya in bhava-4
[ Bill Gates]
is the most
acutely disruptive of health and harmony in life.
-
Kuja-4 for Mithuna lagna =
double-trouble due to Budha = natural regulator of 6. -
Results = not
only the typical hypocrisy of the Kuja-Kanya but also
health problems for the mother, and profound marriage
conflict. -
The childhood home (4) is
fraught with passive-aggressive
conflict (L-6 in 4) and the siblings in the roots-home
(Mangala) while articulate (Kanya) are also very
critical. -
the native tends to
internalize the criticism of parents (Chandra natural regulator of 4) and siblings (Mangala in 4) which results
in health problems. Females in particular tend toward
female-lineage illnesses such as breast and
reproductive cancers (4). -
Disease patterns can be
released by taking a strict lifetime vow against
criticism of self or others, and separating both
physically (Mangala) and emotionally (4) from those
who practice angry belittlement of others.

"For the Gemini Ascendant,
Mars is the lord of the 6th and 11th.
-
According to Parashara,
Mars is
not an auspicious planet for the Gemini Ascendant.
-
We, therefore,
would advise to avoid wearing Coral to the native s of this
ascendant.
-
However, Red Coral can be used
if
Mars is in his own sign in the 11th or 6th
-
in the
Major period of
Mars.
It should be noted that Mars and Mercury the lords of the Gemini
Ascendants are not friends."

|
Budha
=
L-1+ L-4
instruct, explain, classify,
discriminate, analyze, articulate
|
Despite His
kendra-adhi-pati dosha,
conversational and administrative lagnesha
Budha is a highly auspicious graha for
Mithuna lagna and Mithuna-Chandra. Budha grants
articulatory capabilities in business,
particularly in writing, as well as skill in acquiring property and
vehicles.
Budha governs conditions in the early
childhood home, where the Kumara supports a pragmatic foundational (4)
education in the cultural literacy
(Budha + 4) of one's people. If Budha is
well placed, the native is well-indoctrinated
and one easily completes examinations,
obtains licenses, and earns diplomas.
Budha wants to
talk-about, instruct, explain, classify,
discriminate, analyze, articulate, and
announce re: matters of
bhava-1 and
bhava-4 = life and home:
-
Life
Itself: conditions of
biological life; human personality,
physical body appearance,
competitions, innovation, muscular
movement, vitality and birth -
lands
and properties (esp marine
coastal), buildings, vehicles,
property management, nature spirits in
the land, deeds of title, boundaries
and fencing, sovereignty, patriotism,
parents and parenting, the ethnically
based nation-state, ethnic customs of
ownership and stewardship, schooling,
curriculum, diplomas, examinations, licensing,
Example:
Lagnesha Budha in bhava-10 is a
public figure, concerned with articulating an orderly regulatory
environment (even a radically new rule of order: neechcha bhanga Budha
for Albert
Einstein).
Budha in theatrical Simha
bhava-3 may be a genius of advertising and public relations - a media
mogul. In randhra bhava, lagnesha Makara Budha (esp. if oppressed by
drishti of Shani e.g. Virginia
Woolf)
In bhava-4, the uchcha state,
lagnesha Budha is a brilliantly analytical measurer and planner
concerned with property and vehicle ownership, the securing of shelters,
and matters of global education ( Bill Gates,
Jr.).

-
"For the Gemini Ascendant, Mercury
is the lord of the Ascendant and the 4th house.
-
the native s of this
Ascendant should Always wear Emerald as a protective charm.
-
This will bestow them with good
health, wealth, longevity, lands and property, domestic happiness,
success in the field of education, a smooth and obstruction free
fife.
-
The beneficial results will be more
apparent in the major period and sub periods of Mercury.
-
If such a disposition will give rise to a very favourable yoga
known as Bhadra yoga (one of the Panchamahapurusha yogas) then
the beneficial effects of the yoga will be enhanced by wearing an
Emerald."
BPL: example of Mercury be in his own
sign in the 4th = Bill Gates,
Jr.

|
Guru
L-7+ L-10
|
Wise and expansive Guru
= L-10 plus L-10-from-10 = the double-career
lord for Mithuna lagna and Mithuna-Chandra.
Guru periods bring
energy into the career by expanding the
range of responsibilities and scope of
personal influence.
However, for all dvyatmaka
(double-natured) rashi = Mithuna, Kanya,
Dhanushya, Meena = the 'badhaka' bhava =
7.
Counted from Mithuna
lagna or counted from Kanya lagna,
Brihaspati = the "bad boy" badhesha who gives hindrance,
harm, harrassment.
L-7 Brihaspati can
generate a surprisingly troublesome
experience in regard to growth
expectations and humanistic fulfillment in
relationships both personal and
professional. Alliances are not as
expansive or comprehensive perhaps as one
thought. even
considering all of Brihaspati's natural
auspiciousness, Guru's Vimshottari
periods are likely to produce
characteristically Guru-ized problems such
as overconfidence, excessive or
presumptive optimism, overexpansion,
bloated expectations of one's children,
overreliance on philosophical or religious
beliefs (when hard facts of business may
be more relevant) and generally misplaced
faith in human goodness.
One tends to hear the slogans of unified
purpose in organizational leadership (10,
7) but this chat may mask an underlying
fractiousness; to see agreement (7) where
there are competing interests rather than
mutual alliance; to assume, presume, and
expect loyalty (7) and coherent
institutional direction (10) where it
would have been more accurate (Budha) to
re-analyze and re-calculate the less
humanistic reality that was really
governing (10) the situation.
If Guru + Rahu or Guru+
L-8, may produced a sudden shock of
realizing that one's humanistic
expectations were unrealistic and that
one's leaders-advisers are much cruder
than one realized. Even
if Guru is well-disposed, it can be a time
of fall from leadership power and loss of
collegial relationships due to
overestimating the wisdom of one's
advisers and superiors. In general, one
may receive bad advice
that is not malintended but simply
unrealistic.
Marriage and Children, Grandchildren
Marriage and children are also affected by
the badhesha function of Guru. As a
general rule, the spouse is well-qualified
and capable yet falls below expectation.
One may place high hopes in spouse and
offspring based upon their university
education (Guru) or religious vows (Guru)
or world travels (Guru). One may
believe that a reflective person who
prays, meditates, appreciates fine music,
or serves others in sanctuary (including
animals, plants) must be a saint who can
do no wrong. But saints are human.
There is a general life
feeling overall for most Mithuna-lagna and
Kanya-lagna natives that marriage and
usually children too have not realized
their growth
potential. This feeling is not
crippling unless Guru is badly neechcha.
It mainly expresses as a general ennui,

"For the Gemini Ascendant
Jupiter will be lord of the 7th and 10th houses.

As a result of this
he suffers from Kendra-adhipati dosha.
-
Still if Jupiter
is in the Ascendant, 2nd (where he will be exalted), 4th, 5th. 7th (In
his own sign giving rise to Hamsa yoga), 9th, 10th (in his own Sign
again giving rise to Hamsa yoga) or 11th, it will be useful to wear a
yellow sapphirein his major and sub-periods.
-
Those apprehending death on account
of old age or some illness or in whose horoscope there are indications
some illness or in whose horoscope there are indications of short
life, should not wear Yellow Sapphire, as Jupiter is a strong death
inflicting planet for this Ascendant.

|
Shukra
Sweet Pleasures
L-5+ L-12
|
Shukra lord of Taste indicates
possessiveness, acquisitive tendencies, sensual
pleasures, satisfaction, treasures-and-pleasures, luxuries (Laxmi) and
all types of sweets.
As lord of 5 and 12 for
Mithuna lagna, Shukra is especially
possessive of children and political power
(5) and their realm of fantasy imagination
or places of secluded retreat (12)
Shukra the Pleasurer = L-12 from lagna
of Mithuna and
Vrischika.
-
For Mithuna, the 12th bhava of
sanctuary and private rooms
=
Vrishabha the sweetly sensual
paradise of taste, touch, smell,
sight, and sound.
-
Shukra also rules bhava-5 =
romance
-
Guru rules the yuvati bhava,
suggesting multiplicity
of alliances
-
For Vrischika, the 12th bhava =
Thula which seeks pleasure more
through balance and harmony of social
relationships rather than via direct
sensual indulgence.
Shukra being 5-12 lord for Mithuna =
stronger Mithuna-lagna tendency to indulge
in clandestine, private sensual activities
notably extramarital romance (12th = 6th
from 7, enemies of the marriage). the native may be a delightfully indulgent
(Shukra) aficionado of
sensual amusements.
Naturally, conditions in 12th from
Chandra and 12th from lagna as well as the
upapada must be considered. Also Shukra in
the
moudhya state or otherwise
weakened has less power to achieve its
objectives.
-
During Vimshottari
periods of Shukra however both
Mithuna and Vrischika natives are
vulnerable to seek sweet pleasure in
those places that are enclosed,
shielded, largely invisible from
public view.
-
after age 50 read this proclivity
more from the lagna of Mithuna-Chandra or Vrischika-Chandra
Sweet and Tasty Shukra controls the house
of Divine Intelligence and Children as well as the house of Private
Pleasures and dissolution of the social identity. Shukra's agency
promotes reproduction and pleasures from theatre-politics-fashion, as
well as pleasures of the more private variety association with the
bedroom and long-term foreign residence.
In a male nativity, Shukra =
significator of the first wife.
Mithuna lagna or Mithuna-Chandra
indicates characteristics of Bhaga and Vyaya in the first wife. Tendency
for first wife to enjoy abundant creative and procreative intelligence
(5). If Shukra is well placed there is much happiness from children from
the first wife. In addition, the wife-1-agent is deeply
imaginative (prone to sensual fantasizing) and may live in a foreign
land or take long meditation retreats or otherwise seek private
sanctuary, away from the native .

"For the Gemini Ascendant,
Venus will be lord of the 5th and the 12thhouses.
-
Being the
lord of the 5th, a trine, Venus is an auspicious planet for this
Ascendant.
-
Moreover,
Venus
is a friend of Mercury and the lord of this Ascendant.
-
Consequently
wearing of a Diamond in the major and sub-periods of Venus
will
bless the native with children, happiness, intelligence, name, fame
and good fortune.
-
Wearing of Diamond with
Emerald
will always be of immense benefit to the native ."
|
|
Shani
L-8 / L-9
|
Pragmatic and conventional Shani is a mixed
experience for Mithuna lagna and Mithuna-Chandra.
Because
Kumbha the moolatrikona rashi =
identical to Mithuna's dharmasthana., Shani
= usually
religiously minded,
although in a predictably orthodox fashion
which is more oriented to public piety and
less to private prayer.
However what the all-good
dharma lord Shani brings, the intensely transformative lord of randhra bhava
may then take away. Occult interest may
often exceed the motive for public piety,
especially if social respect can be earned
in some other fashion such as via
professional career. The parts of life which are controlled by Shani are
-
religious wisdom teachings and teachers (9)
-
death-and-rebirth, emergency changes, mysteries, and taxes
(8).
In order to benefit from this mixed lordship, Shani should be strong by rashi and bhava
with positive incoming drishti. Shani gives wisdom not only of the
dogmatic 9 variety but also of the hidden 8 variety.
To extract good
results from the dual-wisdom (temple truth and the loss of temple truth)
the native must possess maturity, neutrality, and
adult judgment regarding veracity of information. After about age 60,
the L-8 Shani begins to give remarkably valuable wisdom about the cycle of deaths-and-rebirths.

-
For the Gemini
Ascendant, Saturn is lord of the 9th,
a trine.
-
We consider
Saturn as an auspicious planet for this
Ascendant.
-
It will. therefore, be quite beneficial for
the native to wear Blue Sapphire in the major period of Saturn.

Mercury, the
lord of this Ascendant, is a friend of
Saturn.

Therefore, wearing of an
Emerald,
with Blue Sapphire will prove more advantageous. "

|
Rahu co-lord
of Kumbha L-9
|
Rahu = co-lord of
bhagya bhava-9 Kumbha,
therefore Rahu-ratna
(gomedha) may become a beneficial amplifier-gem for matters of
fatherhood, religious priesthood, taking of important vows, performance
of ritual ceremonies, achieving professorship, university culture, and
world travel.
However Rahu in either rashi of maraka Guru = dangerous
for Mithuna lagna. Even for
the priest-or-professor target, the Rahu-ratna should be
considered only if the lord of
bhava-9 and its occupants are highly auspicious.
-
Rahu and Ketu are said to give
positive results in the 3rd, 6th, and 11th bhava from
the lagna or from Chandra. -
In addition, some authorities
posit that since R-K are exalted in Vrishabha-Vrischika
(per BPHS), R-K will give good results when Mangala and
Shukra are well-disposed. -
Numerous other schemes for
evaluating the elusive aprakasha graha also
exist. (More details in the
summary provided by Dr. G.S. Kapoor .)
|
|
Ketu = 6 + 8
-
Ketu's effects depend significantly on
Ketu's bhava, rashi, and drishti.
-
chidakaraka Ketu un-connects the effect of any graha sharing Ketu's
house
-
Ketu
scatters the effects
of His planetary lord
-
For more detailed evaluation, see
Ketu in 12 bhava.
-
measured from Mithuna lagna, Mithuna
Chandra, Mithuna navamsha
|
For
Mithuna lagna, Lord Ketu
= associated with
-
Mangala = temporal co-regulator of
6 + natural co-regulator of 8.
-
Mangala = enemy of lagnesha Budha
-
Shani = temporal lord of
8-Thula.
-
Shani =
inimical
toward Mangala.
To
predict the effects of
Ketu
Mahadasha, measure:
Ketu-ratna
= helpful for spiritual "witness" practice which can be
a component of Mithuna consciousness.
Vaidurya
could be a beneficial gem in the case that Shani
and Mangala are both well disposed.
Even if auspicious, the nature of litigation and
lawsuits (6) shall
certainly get "scattered".
Expect a accusatory conflict style
=
bhava-6 =
withdrawal from direct confrontation
with emphasis upon personal detachment
leading to complete
surrender. |
