Distinctive features of nativity:

  • Whatever else can be said about Mother Teresa, she is clearly a woman who Gets Things Done.

  • Tremendous energy indicated by predominance of Mangala lordships, and Kuja very strong with Surya in domain-10.

  • Affinity for the poor, sick, & underclass indicated through "lifelong saade saati" in domain-6 and neechha Chandra in navamsha.

  • Rejection by her own mother and self-loathing plus a naturally detached personality (Ketu) drives her into the community of religious women and eventually out into the world through profound social service.

Planetary Yogas: from B.V. Raman, "Three Hundred Important Combinations"

16. Subha-Vesi Yoga

  • Definition.—If planets other than the Moon occupy the 2nd from the Sun, Vesi Yoga is formed. [uccha budha, kanya guru]

  • Results.— The person will be fortunate, happy, virtuous, famous and aristocratic.

Mother Teresa's nativity suggests that she hit the low-lows very early in life. She had already tasted the life of an outcaste --  exploitation, contempt, and humiliation through scandal -- during the Moon's mahadasha age 7-17.

Having survived that awful childhood phase -- mainly via protection of religion inherent in L-9 Chandra --  it was probably very clear to her what she needed to do.

Like a smallpox survivor, her scars proved her vitality and she was no longer afraid of anything. That is perhaps the most striking feature of this fascinating nativity. She could be subject to the most horrific abuses and oppression but she was simply not afraid. Prayer protected her and she knew that.

Ketu in lagna gives a certain inbuilt psychic homing device. Seeming to be a wanderer, one is actually traveling a purposeful path of pilgrimage. Slowly and circuitously, one returns to the land which provides the lifetime spiritual center. For Mother Teresa, that was India. In classic Ketu style, she followed her spiritual instincts to bring the religion of egalitarian healing (Christianity) back to the land of her ancestors...

Das/Behari: neechha Shani/6:

"Saturn leads to the agitation of an intense karma which almost annihilates your personal life.

Saturn can make you indigent, under which condition you incur heavy debt, humiliation, and keep bad company.

Your lascivious nature is so much excited that you may incur venereal disease or become a social outcast

With such bitter experiences concerning life, you may become so disenchanted with human relationships that a desire for renunciation dawns."

Compassion is the desire for another to have freedom from suffering.

Love is the desire for another to have happiness.
