Therefore, in the practice of developing wisdom and loving-kindness / compassion, you strengthen these inner qualities& then reach a state where you have an upsurge of feeling called emotion. We can clearly see this link between intellect& emotions. Thus, the brain& heart can go side by side. I think this is the Buddhist approach.
