Drekkana
Table of 36 Decanates in a 360 degree Circle
36 Portions:
Many cultures use this type of 36-part divisional reckoning to divide up the sky & calculate time. In the Western tradition the custom of 36 divisions is attributed to Egyptian sources.
Jyotisha utilizes a typological chart called a Drekkana which divides each 30 degree rashi into 3 parts.
12 rashi * 3 subsections = 36 divisions.
Khaaresha:
The lord of the 22nd drekkana from the radix lagna (or from Chandra lagna) is called "Khaaresha".
The Kharesha has evil implications, which have to do with sudden turnings of the cycle of birth & death. Shamans traditionally have strong pointers toward the 22nd drekkana.
The Kharesha rules the "middle third" of the 8th house of the radix.
It is also potentially relevant to consider the Kharesha as counted from the navamsha lagna.
