Punarvasu

  • Shil-Ponde. (1939). Hindu Astrology Joytisha-Shastra. p 93.

"... will be successful

  • in everything she undertakes.

If she elects to have a career of her own,

  • she will become very well known and highly respected.

If she marries,

  • she will have a husband and children who adore her

  • and her domestic life will be most happy .

Her house will be orderly and well kept,

  • as she is very particular and discriminating,

  • and insists on beautiful and harmonious surroundings for herself and family.

Her health is good

  • except that she will suffer from gastric complaints

  • and must be careful in her diet. "

originator of the western Theosophy movement in the New Philosophy

  • psychically channeled by writing (3) the oracular testimony of mysterious hidden sources called 'Great Masters' (Ketu in 8)

  • leader of discussion groups (four graha in 3 esp Rahu-Budha) and successful Writer whose philosophical literature has remained in print from first publication (1880's) until the present (atmakaraka Surya philosophy Meena navamsha; Surya in radix lagna)

  • popular with women despite occasional animosities (Chandra + Shukra-Kanya); addicted to cigarette smoking (L-12 Shukra-Kanya) and very weak kidneys (Shukra) ailment Bright's Disease resulting in renal failure (maraka L-2 Soma)

  • rather plump ; remembered as a 'spoiled' child indulged by a busy mother and raised by servants (Chandra + kanya-Shukra-3 servants = mother )

  • absent, disengaged father (L-9 neechcha Guru) and worldwide wanderings (Ketu-8); however some paternal inheritance (dharmapati Guru-in 11th from 9th, gain from father)

  • her mother was a regionally famous literary author (Chandra-Kanya + L-3 Shukra writing mother)

  • a life of nearly constant movement (lagnesha Chandra in 3 = short journeys) marked by vigorous applause along with accusations of legerdemain and fraud (Rahu + Shani + Mangala + Budha = values, truth, magic)

  • first husband much older than her (Guru-Makara in 7) = two marriages (Guru-7)

Distinctive features of nativity:

Punarvasu lagna

Chandra in Hasta

Kanya Chandra

Shani in Simha

Helena Blavatsky HP vimshottari dasha - Barbara Pijan Lama Jyotisha

Physically straightforward yet psychically quite open. Powerful channeler of the snake-like Rahu Kundalini energy.

  • Very close to the animal nature. Needs constant movement.

Shani in bhava-2 = Severe blockage of Shani in the highly inhospitable rashi of His enemy Ravi, disturbed indeed by another enemy of Ravi the ambitious and over-reaching Rahu, energized and dramatized by the political theatre of Mangala. L-8+L-9 Shani = severely compromised in Simha rashi of enemy Suraja, + enemy Mangala + enemy Rahu

bhava-3 = copying, esp. hand-copying; much question regarding the veracity of the journalism (3) = L-11 neechcha Shukra profit via illicit pleasures

Ketu-Kumbha-9 = philosophy influenced by teachings that arrive via subtle electrical networks.

  • Madame Blavatsky was known for her psychic capabilities, and her livelihood was gained partly from channeling spirit-guides and giving séances in the age of 19th century Spiritualism

neechcha L-7+L-10 Guru in randhra bhava = career (10) based on secret or occult materials; death in a bhukti of L-7 Guru

  • neechcha L-5+L-12 Shukra in 4 = effective teacher = L-5 in 4; an intriguing but not beautiful (neechcha Shukra) face;

  • an extraordinary collection of Graha in Simha-3 related to constant cigarette smoking, a gravelly voice, notable verbal wit ; enchanting, snake-like hand movements (Rahu-3);

  • Career in writing: L-1+ L-4+ L-6 + L-8 + L-9 + L-11+ Rahu in bhava-3

Budha = the manual skill of writing; L-11 Mangala = strong, for income via the writings + Rahu the Great Amplifier

    • Chandra + Shukra in bhava-4 = childhood = "spoiled" (overly indulged by parents)

    Speech patterns

rapid speech with a mixture of language accents was, according to some in her audience, the source of occasional incoherence due to speed.

In some activities (esp of her early séance years) she claimed the interference of malefic spirits in her speech. (Surya in 2, lord of Rahu-3)

    Rahu in bhava-3 + Ketu in bhava-9

communications and cohort Bhava-3 provides the snake-hole aperture through which the ambitious Naga King slithers, slides, and springs upward.

Rahu-3 = favorable placement for writers (including songwriters) journalists, and publishers

    • chalakaraka Rahu = self-elevating desire to be recognized and privileged as a writer or messenger who delivers important instructions and announcements.

      • May be a taboo-breaker in matters of communication and signaling. Often journalistically evangelical. Success from writing on exotic, disruptive, or controversial topics.

chidakaraka Ketu = self-deprecating ambivalence toward patriarchal religion, orthodox piety and guru-father-priest figures.

      • "Witness" viewpoint gives cosmological neutrality in religious philosophy.

    Shani + Rahu 3, conflated with Kuja-3 + Budha-3.

    • L-3 Surya in 12th from 3rd = imagination, fantasy, foreign identity

    Bhava-3 announcements-reports-cohort-communication = a difficult location Shani+Mangala+Rahu.

This yoga complicates and over-stimulates the 3-9 axis = mundane daily chat in 3 + theoretical and philosophical discourse in 9.

Delivery of mundane information becomes Rahu-amplified . Rahu 3 marks an ambitious, driven writer. Budha-ruled Chandra shows her writing lineage from a literary mother; but Budha is controlled by Rahu therefore the literature is not advertised (3) as fiction but rather as common, daily fact (3).

Philosophical inquiry (9) governed by Shani and scattered by Ketu-9 becomes mixed with normal daily conversation. Mental health can suffer from confusion of categories and pontification of the pedantic.

Shani + Rahu 3 may indicate considerable complexity imposed upon the act of reporting the truth.

Shani+ Rahu in a hostile rashi is difficult enough. Add Mangala + Budha and it becomes quite a mix of lineage voices.

Chandra in Hasta = excellent for writers and manual skills, including legerdemain. Mme. Blavatsky was an accomplished pianist and wrote voluminous book-draft pages all by hand. Her séance trickery by sleight-of-hand was also notorious at the time.

    • given the Chandra + neechcha Shukra combination, Mme may have been a spoiled child, perhaps given sweets to bribe her to go away
    • she became obese before her death from renal failure (Brights Disease) at age 59

    Kuja mahadasha

    • age 3-10
