Are you a Real Lama?

So many people have asked me this question that it's good to be clear

  • I am neither a Tibetan teacher-priest (bLama) nor a species of Peruvian quadruped (llama).

" Lama" is a common family name amongst Sharwa (Sherpa), tamang, and Bowa (Tibetan) folk in Nepal. Through the exotic auspice of Rahu, imarried into the Lama family of Zhung Gompa, in the Nepal Himalaya, many years ago.

This family's lineage traces back to the priestly caste of Kham (far eastern t'Bod = Tibet). However, the family prefers to live in a simple and unassuming fashion, as farmers and working people.

In this life I am merely "Mrs. Lama". I use my married name for family ease.

For many years, itaught university research literacy (now Professor Emerita.) Like all teachers, iam a member of the intention-collective often reckoned as Sumafi (those guiding toward development of a viewpoint).

Do you live in Nepal or India?

I am blessed to live in beautiful Portland, Oregon, just west of the Cascade Mountain range. The region is called Cascadia. Portland supports about 600K people. Our winters are rainy in the valley and snowy on Mount Hood. Summers are clear and bright. We drink glacier water from the peak of Wyéast, and enjoy one of the best urban transit systems in the USA. Portland operates on Pacific Time.

Subject: Vedic astrology education

Hi Barbara!

Thank you for the wonderful website BP Astrology. It has helped me to understand a lot about myself.

I was wondering where you learnt Vedic astrology as I note there is no degree in astrology listed under your educational achievements?

Lovingly,

Namaste ,

In early decades of the present lifetime, istarted to remember it ... in later decades I have been trying to test my memories of the operating principles against real people and their real life experiences. So far the results are engaging.

I don't have a generational lineage or Jyotisha diploma in this life. However I do have great software and easy access to public data about famous persons. It's a great time in history to be a Jyotiṣika!

Wishing you and your family every happiness, healing from sorrow, guidance by inner light, and success in all of life’s endeavors,

Sincerely,

Barbara Pijan Lama, Jyotishavidya
