Grant's father Jesse Root Grant was a committed foe of alcohol use, due in part to the fact that Jesse's own father had been a severe alcoholic who abandoned his own children to the streets in his disability.

The father's father can be seen via 9th-from-pitristhana = indriya lagna [bodily baseline] . Shukra's polarizing catalysis appears to have afflicted both General Grant and his paternal grandfather with equal impact.

Hiram Ulysses Grant's wife Julia Dent [Shukra] hailed from a wealthy slave-owning plantation family from Missouri. Although were wed in St. Louis at the home of Julia's slaver father - which was less than one day's wagon ride from Grant's parental home in Illinois -- Ulysses Grant's abolitionist parents refused to attend his wedding.

Although he held the office of POTUS-18 for eight years, Grant's mother never once visited the White House. Mom declined many invitations from President Grant and his socially popular wife Julia Dent Grant. Mother was presumably unable to associate herself with her intemperate son, whether he had the honorable POTUS rank, or not.

Being a Northern war hero remembered for his ability to put an end to the conflict -- regardless of the hideous costs of life and property -- Grant won an easy re-election.
