Unless strengthened by parivartamsha with Lord Shani, or yuti Shani, Mars is confused and diffused in the hostile rashi of His enemy Shani. Mangala the independent innovator is not much welcome in the scientifically regulated, sign-of-the-masses rashi of Kumbha.

Kuja-Kumbha's individual goals are interwoven very tightly with those of the generation, social movement, or large conceptual group to which one belongs, such as visionary scientists, marketplace agents, or futuristic social-change thinkers.

Using the relatively crude physical vitality as the primary resource for the job of interconnecting large groups of people, one may seem pushy, too competitive, overly ambitious, primitive, or impatient. Mangala can feel deeply frustrated in a rashi of slow-moving Shani.

One self-identifies as a network-builder dedicated to group empowerments, but the true motive is solo exploration of new connections between systems and pioneering new scientific concepts.

Suddenly the competitive, dominating "winner" behaviors of warrior-Mangala become just a little blip on the radar screen of the huge, regulated, but enormously complex world of the great nervous system of the universe.

Mangala is instinctive, proactive, and independent by nature; He is hormonally sexual and He competes to win sexual contests. In Kumbha, there is little opportunity for Mangala to get personal attention. The cosmos is too big, and too impersonal. The Kuja-Kumbha native may perform fabulously important and creative research into large systems, yet feel lost and unrecognized in those systems as well.

Unless Kuja occupies bhava-10 or 10th-from-Chandra, one's career recognition (a function of Shani) is typically quite low in comparison to the longer-term significance of the research work for the advancement of human civilization.

It is quite difficult for Kuja to succeed in Kumbha, but success does becomes more likely with age.

Kumbha is Shani's territory, co-ruled by Rahu. To function successfully in the world of large, complex, conceptually detailed systems, Mangala must somehow acquire a Shani-based attitude of patient, modest, observant, slow, determined, and above all neutral, persistence in navigating the multiple channels of the network.

And, because of Rahu's co-lordship, Mangala must also be gripped by a continuous, unrelenting, burning desire to possess the map.

his is a rare and tricky combination: Rahu + Shani + Kuja. This contradictory and internally conflicted combination can easily go awry, resulting in physical illness as Kuja exhausts the native in fruitless pushing toward premature conceptual conclusions, while Rahu's desire nature demands sensual satisfaction - and gets none.

Whether Rahu supports Kuja or not, Mangala's style tends to be aggressive, muscular, impatient, competitive, and hyper-active. Thus, the proverbial bull in the china shop.

When Mangala is handicapped in Kumbha, even the best results (e.g., a parivartamsha yoga with Lord Shani) require a long time (Shani) to manifest. Youth, until Kuja's maturity at age 28, is typically a state of extreme frustration. the native may wish to partake of large ideologically-driven political movements, (e.g., Jimmy Carter, not a parivartamsha but uchcha lord Shani in kendra-1). One may delve into the complexities of the laws of physical science, or seek to understand the rules of esoteric cosmology as applied to home life. ( Elizabeth Taylor, religious conversion)

However, Mangala is simply too rushed and too reactive to realize success in the very-large-scale conceptual undertakings, at least in the earlier part of life.

As time (Shani) goes on, however, and certainly after the "half way point" of the 120-year Vimshottari dasha, which occurs at age 60 (or after the second Shani return approx. age 58), the prognosis for physical-scientific, social-scientific, or esoteric-scientific success begins to improve.

his native will ultimately gain the power to navigate in the "big picture", but only after a lifetime of "practice" in the field (the legendary "10,000 hours") which Shani demands.

Nothing could be further from Kuja's true nature than to be told He must wait half a lifetime or more to see even the first results from His scientific and conceptual-philosophical studies.

In the "social organism", Kumbha governs the marketplace with its complex but orderly networks of interlocking association. Similarly, any large, complex system whether human or conceptual. Indeed Kumbha regulates the entire world of abstract, logical, conceptual philosophy and systems design.

Illness pattern = due to Kuja operating in a Hostile Rashi

Kuja's muscular, competitive, hunter's ambition tends to overload Kumbha's electrical circuitry. Thus the native may experience "circuit breakage" or disruption of bodily nervous energy flow on a regular basis.

Vital physical energy is channeled into the endless universe of conceptual, abstract, large-system thought; the personal energy does not naturally replenished but rather is lost in the system like the proverbial drop in the bucket.

  • One works best amongst the people, sending signals of freedom and development opportunities.

  • Not an "alpha" role for Kuja. Facilitator, conductor, and friend.

Much depends on the natal conditions of Lord Shani.

If Shani is well disposed and in a good relative angle to Kuja,

  • too much discipline, restriction and even deprivation

  • Yet some good fruits from development of abstract philosophical thinking and personal monk-like capacity to accept and utilize conditions of Austerity.

If Kuja occupies a 2/12 or shad-ashtaka 6-8 angleto Shani,

  • expect cultural marginalization and physical exhaustion -- often caused by under-employment.

If Kuja dosha

  • frustrations will be directed toward the spouse.

Physical appearance

The physical appearance is most powerful influenced by the lords of radix lagna and Chandra lagna.

  • However, Kuja is the natural regulator of the physical appearance. When Kuja occupies a hostile rashi, the physical body appearance may be awkward and ill-fitting - or the person just looks stressed out.
