In Kumbha rashi, Ravi suffers from a loss of center-stage egocentricity. The personality occupies the center of a centerless weblike marketplace of voluntary associations = a distributed commonwealth.
superb for one at the "center" of large electro-magnetic, economic, or conceptual systems
advantageous in the study and practice of positivistic science natural social-progressive thinkers who seek to advance more opportunities for social-economic participation; Surya-Kumbha may do much good for society yet may fail to uphold moral standards in the personal behavior
Willful Suraja is too ego-centric in Kumbha the rashi of distribution within a Group. The social and economic distribution system suffers when Suraja occupies Kumbha. The native often resents the will of the majority and may act autocratically when group linkage is required. Surya-Kumbha can however serve as the iconic image of a principled, populist social progressive movement a friend to the common man; an enemy of kings:
Due to the extensive distributing not concentrating function of Kumbha, it is all about the people, the network, the movement. For Surya-Kumbha, too much attention cannot be focused upon self-glorifying personalities - else the movement will be weakened.
"Arka" must adapt the ego-personality to the conditions of the collective marketplace economy. The personal genius (Ravi) = socially recognized only as a vehicle for the delivery of economically important behaviors to the community.
Any attempt to centralize, glamorize or dramatize the economic behaviors i.e. to assert (as Surya does love to assert) that one = the charismatic center of power will generally be punished when Surya occupies lowest-common-denominator Kumbha.
One's natural genius seeks to be in the center of distributive systems, communities and networks, social progress movements. Kumbha = the polar opposite of Ravi's regal splendor intelligence in moolatrikona Simha. In Kumbha, Ravi's ego expression depends on the character of Surya's bitter enemy: survivalist, materialist Shani. Self-determination and ability to radiate from a central position = minimized when Surya occupies the web of Kumbha, a network of regulated pulsations which has no center.
The social ego is entirely defined by one's role in the marketplace of goods and ideas or by the social-scientific-economic-ideological community. No higher principles are known; one is defined by the network. "Arka" may radiate Ravi-confidence in matters of the common people, and their weaknesses, very well.
Visible public behavior= psychologically driven by childhood memories of being ostracized (pushed out from the mainstream center) and praised for making gainful associations. When Surya is strong, royalty delight in the presence of other royalty.
But when Surya is weak, no matter how gifted the native 's creative output might be, the person is unhappy socially, feeling ostracized, and seeking companionship with other similarly marginalized. "Arka" = often able to get into "the zone" of contented interior nervous-system coordination when working on designs and tasks related to their marketplace role. For example,
The error is not selfishness, but rather the reverse. One's attention naturally moves to the highly regulated structure of the network of interconnection among people, ideas, and things both living and inanimate. One has a great sense of progressive social movements, the marketplace of goods and ideas, and the material cosmos. However, the consciousness may be almost completely devoid of the concepts of centrality, divinity, or uniqueness or genius. There follows an unfortunate tendency to denigrate the creative integrity of those around one. Surya in Kumbha is often called "unethical" in the commentaries. Arka may reject the concept of personal responsibility for negative social actions while ironically seeming willing to accept personal credit for same. This is possible because one holds a self-view of having been assigned to "energize the system" and "empower connections" while at the same time the ego is very much reduced. Surya-Kumbha = humbly aware of having simply been "assigned" to be born in the right place at the right time, with the right eccentricities, to hold a somewhat arbitrarily powerful role. Surya-Kumbha = anonymous systems orientation; may lack concern for the impact that one's actions may have upon the lives of specific people. Rather, one sees a collective distributive associative system in which certain temporarily iconic individuals "speak out from the crowd" Surya = ego identification with physical science esp. matters of electricity, networks, radiance, light, heat, centrality, soul. Wants to shine in fields of electrical engineering and computer science. Also affiliated with and wants to shine in association with the intellectual cultures of social science such as organizational psychology, sociology, political science, economics. The Surya-Kumbha Dilemma
A prominent a role in large progressive social movements
The psychic stress of excessive public attention upon on the flesh-body shell can cause Arka to seek out numbing medications to relieve the overloaded circuits Even with good health practices, the stress of too much public attention upon a weakened Surya can make one quite sick Surya-Kumbha = typically advised to decline opportunities for kingly type of commanding roles; taking in their stead roles of non-central, socially responsive ombudsman and signal-repeater: policy-making Teddy Kennedy, bureaucratic functionary, and teacher or facilitator within large movements Rudolf Steiner Philosophically abstract, conceptual-networked Kumbha = a truly inhospitable rashi for Surya. Similar to the constraint as Surya-Makara above. Yet in Shani's stronger mulatrikona rashi, the solar channel for divinity into human-ness, ethically truthful, independent ego is abstracted into "just another member of the group". Strengthens determination to achieve material gain. Substitutes conceptual scientific experimentalism and strategic marketplace agenda for the authentic intelligent motivation to validate the good in everyone. This error leads to dehumanization in relationships, and mutual distrust within the group. the native does not trust those in one's company, nor do they trust the native . Often perceived as untrustworthy, due to lacking a moral foundation in life Leads to dryness of the heart. Skin rash and nerve disorder. Low willpower, low confidence and insecure social expression, can't handle conflict and wants to get along with everyone. Compare to Enneagram 9. Tends to be socially uncomfortable, edgy; perceived as disloyal or too scientific, too conceptual, too abstract. Despite talent and intelligence, the native is generally not well-liked. the native 's sense of self is considerably swayed by marketplace forces. One is vulnerable to loss of personality through group cultand organizational pressures. In the Jyotisha literature, Ravi-Kumbha is often called "degraded" or "depraved". This result occurs because the personal ethic is dominated by the will of the marketplace, or by the will of the Assembly. Situational ethics similar to Surya/Makara but tends toward elaborate rationalizations and futuristic explanations rather than the simple expedient politics of Makara-Surya. Having no clear personal grasp of right and wrong, the native is not inclined to challenge wrongdoers and fancies himself a man of peace. Will study many belief systems without personally subscribing to any of them. If Budha = Kumbha = advanced conceptual intelligence for mathematics, electronics, and philosophical science. Charitable, humble and unpretentious, Surya-Kumbha identifies with the people, the masses, the plebiscite. They identify with big numbers and big systems. Unfortunately, in their humility, all the depravity of the lowest classes seems sensible and excusable. Therefore, despite technical excellence, one may practice corrupt personal habits.

Father |
Father or father-figure, who may be the grandfather or other dominant male = concerned with marketplace gain and large-group affiliation. The father = dominant and emotionally detached, with a strategic, expedient, mentally conceptual orientation to both public and private life. The Arka father may be an expositor of moral principle from a strictly theoretical "systems" viewpoint. Yet his own beliefs are pragmatic and his application of those beliefs is unerringly strategic, toward the realization of his material goals. Lacking personal access to divine certainty, the father may substitute any internally coherent ideology which meets his logical requirements for philosophical connectivity. He will pick and choose principles for living based on their instrumental value for achieving his current objectives. He cannot offer praise because he does not easily recognize the ego-validation entitlements of others. In family life, this father is either silent or bitterly critical of the child's behaviors. He is not aware that his criticism is cuttingly destructive of the child's ego development, since his own sensitivity to personal ego was destroyed during his own childhood. Thus this father, without ever displaying explicitly immoral behaviors, may have evil effects upon the child. The father's intelligence is focused on achieving material and status goals. This achievement may be instrumentally justified as being intended for the increased welfare of the family. But in truth the father's goal-achievement strategy is his own, and whatever benefits are gained have little value to him or anyone else. He is something of a robot on course toward gainfulness as its own abstract purpose, with little personal connection to either the principles he may espouse or the people to whom he may espouse them. This man was ostracized as a child, and will feel disconnected from humanity throughout life. Karaka for a short lifespan for the father, due to dry heart and nervous overwork. He passes along the cold-hearted view to his child, that marketplace driven expedient affiliations and their logically resulting material gainfulness are the superior social principles of life. As always, if Shani is dignified, the negative implications are reversed, and the father may -- with time and maturity-- display superior moral character. Das comments on Surya-Kumbha: |
You may find that your past dealings with others leave you in a position where others see you as unpopular, to be avoided. The best way to avoid this is to avoid its cause, which is a tendency to dominate and manipulate,
Watch for these during Sun ruled periods.
You have great strength and courage but a short temper. In some way or at one point in life, you will gain through other people's marriage partners.
Due to something you believe or do, you may be not liked by the truly learned,
There is an underlying current of unhappiness or sorrow running through your life.
However, this Sun indicates some low vibrations in Aquarius,
