Self-referential Surya in svabhava of Ravi's close friend Brihaspati radiates expansive, generous [Guru] personal charisma [Surya] in public ritual (9) and private guidance (12) roles =

  • religious preaching, temple, and university life

  • Preacher-Teachers

  • rituals of the Patriarchal religion

  • global personality

  • patron of central cult of worship

creative, center-stage specialties

  • preacher, indoctrinator, celebrator, Mass-sayer, chalice-raiser

Often indicates challenges with the father's self-reflexive attitude. Bhava-9 can be patronizing, and Surya-9 has an unsavory quality of self-righteousness often tagged as karako bhavo nashto

Sparkling Surya's brilliant light permits Ravi-9 to see into the temples of wisdom, university scholarship, philosophical truth, patriarchal religion, world travel and global affairs

It may be fun to belong to a faith community (9, sangha) so long as one holds a central role, and the members have plenty of creative freedom.

The brightly sparkling but also often self-righteous ego-membrane of the social personality migrates toward the center of

  • fatherhood, professorship, global travels
  • preaching, priesthood , teaching, professorship, pulpits, public ritual, philosophy, religious guidance,
  • wisdom-teaching, universities, seminaries, temples

  • global awareness, world travel, worship, sacred texts, higher truth

  • partner's siblings

Whether more specialized toward money, knowledge, or pleasure depends upon rashi, drishti, and co-tenants of bhava-9.

  • The personal will is invested into religious cultures which hold priestly lineages, university philosophy, and the light of pure reason in the highest regard.

  • Surya-9 may be a professor, preacher, or priest. Impatient with the rule-bound, conservative aspects [Shani] of organized religion; may create one's own sect or cult.

gives confidence and reasoning .

Surya is not a super-malefic when it occupies bhava-9 because confidence and reasoning are beneficial qualities in the father and, by extension, in the guru.

  • However, Surya's lower vibrations involve ego-membrane promotion and rationalization as opposed to authentic philosophical reasoning.

  • A lesser consciousness may suffer from overheated theological argumentation, allowing ideology to replace true religion.

Self-righteous assertion of faith can masquerade as divine confidence. Lack of humility ultimately forms a barrier to deep certainty.

Father [karako bhavo nashto]

Surya-karaka = Father occupies bhava-9 Father holds a central position within a priestly, idealistic, ideological, philosophical, or doctrine-preaching environment (9) . If Surya is strong, he is ego-invested in the practice of fatherhood. The father sees himself as a good person and a bright role-model for wise living. He is often a self-important, preacher, a professor, a pundit, or a patronizing or paternalistic personality.

The father is known to his sangha (people who believe similar claims) as an agent of uniquely personalized yet principled belief. The father can be a missionary of any doctrine,"-ism", or"-ology" such as a religious catechism, an economic ideology such as capitalism or socialism, or a judicial philosophy such as textualism.

Self-referential Surya indicates that Dad tries to hold the center of enlightened discourse in his area of practice. Due to the royal, autocratic nature of Surya the result may be self-righteous preaching with the native feeling blinded by one's own genius.

Whether his effectiveness in the role-modeling task is positive or negative depends upon the ruler of 9 * dharma-pati, and its angle to Surya-9.

  • Iran-Shah 1919-1980 Aryamehr Mohammad Reza Pahlavi [Surya-9-Tula with Surya's Professor Shukra in yuvati = 10th-from-10]. Predictably, both father and son enjoyed prominent "divine right" careers. Surya [nīcha] indicates the cult of royal divinity that was constructed to enforce the entitlement of his father who was a charismatic Army officer. The father was a dominating, self-righteous [Surya] military officer who led a coup, declared himself Shah, and arranged alliances [Tula] with European powers to keep himself entitled. However, those same powers went to war among themselves and his self-proclaimed authority then collapsed.

  • Chariots of Fire 1955-1997 Dodi Al-Fayed= exceptionally pronounced [uchcha-Surya Mesha-9] with Surya's Professor Mangala in 10-Vrishabha-luxuries. His charismatic, self-righteous father was the dominating, outspoken billionaire luxury-goods retailer (Vrishabha) and sports-team owner [Mangala] Mohamed Al-Fayed.

  • Calif-Gov 1938- Moonbeam Jerry Brown [populist-gainful Revatī-3] [Surya-yuti-Shani] Surya-9 father-doctrine is much oppressed by Shani-9 pragmatic materialism ++ [Shani-9-parivartamsha-Guru-8]. JB attempted to train as a priest [Guru] but ultimately was called into government [Shani]. He served an unprecedented four terms as Governor of California + Attorney General ++ Mayor of Oakland. Shani endurance, stamina, time.

  • Total Surrender 1910-1997 Mother Teresa of Kolkata [messaging-describing Magha-3] [mūlatrikoṇa] + [Kuja-yuti-Surya] Surya-9-Simha combined with an energetic, self-promoting Mangala-9. Her father was an influential local politician in Albania. Dad's competitive career dominated her childhood. Typical of Mangala-9, he was murdered in a political feud.

  • El Castilo Interior 1515-1582 St. Teresa de Avila [visionary-conceptual Revatī-4] [Atmakaraka] + [uchcha-Shukra-yuti-Budha --nīcha-bhanga]

Father usually has mental discipline in his craft, which can yield a high position in his chosen priesthood. Dad may be famous, but also tends to be entitled, self-referential, and ego-domineering.

Surya-9 may thrive as a teacher of higher reasoning methods, university professor, teaching guru, church theologian, idealistic ambassador, or other public role associated with the Temple Network.

In Thula uncorrected, a weak paternal personality. Surya-9 may lack true confidence and be reluctant to assume personal responsibility for determining the truth of religious beliefs. In Mesha: heroic, but arrogant.

Self-referential Surya is otherwise well-placed in the svabhava of Ravi's friend Guru. One is highly idealistic in matters of civil religion (the temple discourses of nation-states), and may render an inspiring style of preaching and teaching.

Splendid Surya-9 may be a professor or other position of confident transmission of higher teachings in the secular priesthood, e.g. The universities.

The religious life is highly personalized, tending sometimes toward skepticism. Within the ritual priesthood, a special competence in fire worship. Superb position for a professor of religious studies.

7th drishti to Sahaja Bhava helps small-group communications. Excellent for individualized writing tasks. An authoritative communicator.

One finds a central position in the drama [Surya] of wisdom-seeking behaviors , matters of universities, professor, preacher , temples, ritual priesthood, wisdom-lineages, guru-ship, philosophy of law, philosophy of knowledge, philosophy of religion, and holy vows.

  • Calif-Gov 1938- Moonbeam Jerry Brown [Surya-yuti-Shani] Young Jerry studied in the seminary for Catholic priests for several years before following into politics. His well-known Catholic father was Edmund G. Brown, a lifetime politician and two-term Governor of California

The down-side as always with empowerment of Surya = paternalism = presuming that one knows better, that one is inherently wiser, than other humans.

  • If this pitfall can be avoided, Surya-9 may rise to a great height in preaching and teaching, or promotion of social ideals. (Gore ).

Some difficulty in university and temple examinations, due to Surya-9 's highly individualistic viewpoint. One is rationally correct but perhaps one's motive is too transparently self-concerned.

One seeks praise and recognition for one's religious priesthood, knowledge of sacred teachings, and for one's relationships to teaching institutions such as universities, religious schools, and temples.

[karako bhavo nashto for father, patrons, chieftains, indoctrinators]

Father may be an ideologue, political guru, dramatist, royalty, creative artist, game-player or other brightly entitled figure. Dad thinks of himself as Always Right in All Matters of philosophy, doctrine, belief. A paragon of idealism.

A man of principled convictions, Dad may be less inclined to consider the viewpoints of others. He tends to be entirely confident in the 9-roles of preacher-teacher, expert professor, or temple guru.

  • Father's self-confidence = brightly shining.

  • Surya-yuti-Rahu inflated presence. Ambitious and important in matters of guidance and faith.

  • may show selfishness or flamboyant ego Surya-Mesha , Surya-Simha [svakshetra] [mūlatrikoṇa if within 1-10 deg]

  • human father is posing as Shri Vishnu.

If exalted, father may be a moralistic preacher . If in a rashi of Shukra, father indulges in sweets. Oneself or one's father may serve the public as an icon of religious belief. My way or the highway

Independent behavior vis-a-vis the father, and father's response may be imperious

Both the native and the father have strong and confident ego-membrane structure. As a rule, those who even occasionally disagree with the father cannot live together for very long in the same house.

Father Knows Best

Father may be arrogant, or perceived as intellectually dominating.

Nevertheless, there is filial respect and the father's reputation remains honored unless Surya is badly fallen or some harsh drishti from Shani.

If Surya-9 for masculine nativity, one may continue a multi-generational lineage of dominating, overbearing, self-righteous fathering-style which might go back into the centuries. Often a lineage of priests, or professors, or preachers.

Die Krone des Königreichs Bayern * The Crown of the Kingdoms of Bavaria

Career during Vimshottari Dasha periods of a graha located in bhava-9 .

There are many beneficial effects from graha located in dharmasthāna-9 including expansion of humanistic perspective, global awareness, and contact with wisdom-figures.

Nevertheless, the 10th-from-9 = bhava-6 indicating disharmony and ailment.

As a result, there may be a temporary experience of conflict in leadership roles, ailments related to job performance, unfair agreements, loss of contract, dissolution of equity, accusations, pollution, or other 6-related phenomena according to the rashi of 6 and any graha residing in 6.

If the karmesha occupies rogasthāna-6, the professional life remains robust, but the career duties tend to emphasize injury, indebtedness, exploitation, or toxicity, inter alia.

Careers in labor relations, social work, medicine, and other ministries of service are usually enhanced by the 6th-angle because these professions are already dedicated to service of the hurting. Their collegial relationships may temporarily suffer somewhat but the overall mission is stable.

Surya-9 can provide a growth-challenge regarding matters of the father, priests, professors, or guru and their ability to separate their ego-membrane concerns from the business of cultivating true spiritual love.

Supportive placement for careers such as university professor, theologian, priests of high ritual, and natural philosophers of all stripes.

Perfectionism in the temple is disruptive to relationships with the guiding spirits. Deities also have their shortcomings.

Das / Behari commentary upon Surya in 9:

" ...does not discourage you from religious observances;

rather The intensity with which you apply yourself to religious observances is quite severe, even fanatical.

  • The mind is sharp and you are clear about your goals in life.

  • The greatest problem is egotism.

  • Depending on other conditions, you may be a heartless self-promoter moved by a strong libido.

  • You are interested in the higher aspects of life, but the interest is only skin-deep.

  • ... not very helpful for your father's longevity, However, longevity to father if the Sun is in its own Sign or in exaltation.

Early life may have been difficult; middle life, easy and later life, unhappy.

  • ... good deeds are not the outcome of noble thoughts; These are performed out of vanity; and to beguile others.

However, all this goes to your favor.

  • You gain popularity and are considered virtuous ... praised.

Mentally, you are at war and worry ,

  • your deeds are not backed by sincerity.

  • You are not fair and just, even to your brothers

  • and therefore, suffer at their hand.

You live a life of constant worries and anxieties.

  • Essentially, you are vain, showy and therefore an opportunist.

  • That's why you change directions like a weather-cock.

... You love truth, have beautiful long hair, well wisher of your family, reveres the learned and saints;

  • sickness in childhood; well settled by the middle age...

  • You are sharp and thoughtful and take the virtuous path of life.

  • Happiness through family and friends. ...

You are religious but not lucky. ... austere.

Trust in and respect for preceptors and learned people. ...

will be very interested in religion, will not be well-disposed towards wife and father, and be not calm.

  • ... will not relate well with siblings

  • ... be separated from your father early.

  • ... change religion and enter a new religion ...

You will face many obstacles in your undertakings and will enjoy others' wealth.

You will seek carnal pleasures during the day time."
