Rahu = Passion for (unearned) Privilege of the Class of Conquerors

"The vain quest for glory and a personal spotlight."

Exotic and vigorous social personality

instrumentally associated with the birth (1) of a new energy "movement" (1)

Quest for as-yet-unearned personal entitlements

Rahu wants what He materially cannot have or morally should not have.

In bhava-1, it is Rahu's impatient desire to be a celebrated champion, a spectacular winner, a Great Personality.

Whatever distinction He obtains in the hungry quest for privileges accorded to a great personality, Rahu-1 can never be satisfied.

Immediately upon obtaining the object of desire, Rahu again yearns for more, better, different privileges. Rahu-1 craves the entitlements granted to the class of beings who have earned the power to express innovation, competition, and forward-moving activity.

Every day starts a new battle for Rahu-1, as He leaps upward toward this ephemeral prize.

Rahu-1 can contribute to a personal culture of narcissism.

Rahu-1 = amplified vital instincts toward self-elevation through rule-evading risk. The vehicle for achievement is the physical body. (If there are other graha yuti Rahu, the other graha will add other vehicles to the quest.)

The full scope of effects depends upon which graha occupy bhava 5, 7, and 9.

Rahu-1 = "impressed with oneself".

  • As an icon of a "movement" Rahu-1 wants to impress others as well.

Rahu-1 has oily, smoky fuel for generating life-force heat, vitality, and movement.

Rahu-1moves with fascinating snake-like power. (A splendid placement for kundalini-type yoga.)

Rahu wants unearned privilege and entitlements via the "fast track".

Entitlement sought : chalakaraka Rahu-1 wants to give the 'impression' of holding legitimate status-rank credentials in the class of beings who demonstrate:

  • Winners, athletes and aristocrats, the dominantly competitive, the masculine,

  • Nobility, Aryan, the Supreme, first-born, the First-arrivers,

  • vitally energized, the innovative, the conquering, the bloody, the hunters and pursuers, the champions and the warriors

  • sword-bearers, machinists, shooters, hunters, conquerors, cutters, tailors, metal-smiths of knives, guns, and spears; butchers, surgeons, acupuncturists, injectors, dealers in heat, fuels, blood and metals

If Mangala or L-1 = strong, Rahu may take whatever risks are necessary to achieve membership in this class of persons.

Physical

  • Lord Rahu in bhava-1 also denotes an exotic or inappropriate factor in the physical body.

Rahu-1 vs Shani-1 vs Mangala-1

The difference = chalakaraka Rahu-1 does not perform the action (Kuja) and does not do the penance (Shani).

  • Rahu-1 practices no austerity.

  • Rahu-1 has no humility. He accepts no guidance.

  • He accepts neither limitation nor correction. He has no discipline.

  • He looks for loopholes and short-cuts.

  • Rahu-1 does not pass the examination; does not earn the achievement.

  • He just wants the rewards - and fast!

This debility can improve if there are other graha yuti Rahu, esp Shani.

To appreciate the distinctive qualities of Rahu-1 versus other graha in 1, it can help to think of Mangala-1 where the native is a natural warrior and athlete often in competitive training and outputting major physical energy.

Shani-1 by contrast is a persistent and disciplined worker, who slowly albeit relentlessly earns the respect and privileges He seeks on a course with many setbacks and limitations.

Bhava-1 = social personality and physical flesh-body. The body-musculature and iconic personality provide the aperture through which the ambitious Naga King slithers, slides, and springs upward.

1 = 11th from 3rd

in His 11th-from gainful, economic, networking, association-seeking behaviors, Rahu co-lord of Kumbha-natural-11 produces the hunger to form profitable marketplace association with a specific class of persons.

Rahu craves to enter into association with those whose gains, profits and goal-achievement are typically obtained from activities of the 3rd portion.

Rahu aims to gain a fraudulent or as-yet-unearned qualification into this class of persons.

This class of entitled persons obtains material increase (11) from the basis of bhava-3 commerce.

Rahu desires those Fruits and profits arising:

  • from brothers

  • from collaborators

  • from team-mates

  • from short-term travel

  • from business busy-ness

  • from messaging and media-communication of every variety

  • from memoranda, letters, emails, message-delivery

  • from angels and evangelism

  • from news reports and announcements

  • from journalism

  • from movies, television, radio, internet, magazines, journals

  • fromsales, advertising, marketing, public relations

  • from writing and publishing

  • from hand-craft and tool-using

  • from hands and lungs

  • from arts and artisans

  • from seminars and conferences

  • from information (not knowledge)

  • from training (not teaching)

  • from holiday travel (not scholarly travel)

  • from planning , scheduling, organization of details

  • from detail, retail, entail, curtail -- all matters of "sizing"

  • Rahu in Bhava 1-

    • counted from D-1 lagna

    Mesha lagna

    • dramatist James Dean (d. 1955) = "live fast, die young, and leave a good-looking corpse"
Vrishabha lagna = uchchamsha Mithuna lagna messaging, media, scripts Karkata lagna
    Simha lagna royalty celebrity drama
Kanya lagna Thula lagna negotiations and alliances Vrischika lagna occult knowledge Dhanushya lagna inspirational philosophy Makara lagna governance Kumbha lagna the masses and the classes Meena lagna visions and dreams

Always hungry for but never satisfied with any configuration of social personality attributes.

Knows how to exploit the legal loopholes (Rahu) utilizing many secrets of usury, larceny, infidelity, drugs, servitude, and exploitation (8th from 6th).

    "Desire for Extraordinary Personal Vitality"

    • "Leapfrog "over the conventional path to privilege via the physical appearance,

      • particularly using demonstrations of competitive domination or sexual prowess

    • (esp when + Chandra) Urgent need to be perceived as desirable

    • Self-deception = projection of a potentially fraudulent but socially desirable self-image(personality disorders)

    • Passion to challenge the conventional boundaries of personal identity and social ranking that were granted at birth

    • Daring and exciting "larger-than-life" personality often packaged with glamorous psycho-physical attributes

    • Hunger to Possess unique identity through presumptive entitlements.

    • Compulsively uses surreptitious or unconventional methods to obtain credibility in displays of physical glamour, energetic competition, and self-propelled empowerment

    • Affinity for the forbidden, off-limits, beyond limits, disallowed, improper; identified with international experience and ethnic mixing

    • the native is at birth unqualified for the desired privileges;

    • physical body appearance =the perfect disguise for invasive rakshasa Rahu

    • with Rahu in lagna, one born into even the most humble circumstances may attempt to slither or leap into the ranks of god-like desirability

We all have a little snake in us.

    • The human body is designed upon a spinal model which at its genetic basis is a slithering, bending, aperture-penetrating reptile.

Some are more reptilian than others.

    • Rahu in 1 is quite snaky, often with hooded eyelids and a great taste for some type of forbidden nectar. (Rahu appropriates the lineage of another, child of another, spouse of another, money of another, home of another, prestige of another etc.)

birth identity (via lagnesha, Chandra, other personality factors)

    •  weakened by some type of cleverly masked abuse in the prenatal and childhood environment. One is encouraged or forced via conditions of birth to become someone "better" than one's own natural self.

    "Leapfrog"

    • self-promotion from the at-birth station in life to a higher level of privilege, using the vehicle of physical vitality as a visible icon of risk-taking excitement

    Relationships

    Rahu in bhava-1 = Ketu in bhava-7

    • Chalakaraka Rahu = ambition for vitality, iconic recognition, Great Personality

    • Chidakaraka Ketu = apathy toward marriage, promises, agreements, the cares and concerns of others

    • as always, the final outcome of Rahu-Ketu placements depends upon the settlement of the Moon

the ambitious, targeting, achieving Rahu native is often constrained by marriage-union to an unfocused, chronically scattered Ketu type.

    Relationships

    • Validation-hungry Rahu is intensely focused on ascension.

    • Ambivalent, escapist Ketu is directionless and scattered.

    • Rahu makes long-range plans while Ketu has a short attention span.

    • Rahu-Ketu in the radical lagna, in the Chandra lagna, or in the navamsha lagna = a core partnership loaded with frustration.

    • Rahu rages with closely targeted ambitious desire while Ketu disperses like scattershot.

    • Remarkably, these people always find each other. The longer they stay together, the more "bi-polar" they become.

    Constant and repeating separations

    • The time-honored "best practice" with these couples = spending long periods of time away from each other.

    • This pattern of spending more time apart than together can preserve the marriage.

    • Many high-achieving men and women have Rahu in lagna, and their marriage movement patterns usually involve frequent and extensive absence, with the Rahu person's achievement environment often located in a distant city or foreign land.

    • The Ketu spouse appears only sporadically for social showcase functions.

    Examples:

    • USA Pres-41, George H. W. Bush "Sr." (Rahu-partner) + Mrs. Barbara Bush "Sr." (Ketu-Other). When Mr. Bush entered national politics early in his career, he moved to Washington D.C. to build his "staircase to heaven" of Rahu achievement. He was indeed successful over time in ascending the ranks (with some slippage) until he finally achieved the Rahu dream = top-ranked President-41. Mrs. Bushsnake stayed in Texas for decades, raising their children. Mr. Bushsnake visited only occasionally. Even when the family moved to the US capital, Mr. Bush's networking duties were such that he and Mrs. Bush interacted mainly on public occasions. They have been married for more than 60 years and now, in their 80's, are living proof of the "distance marriage" formula.

    • Jack Welch = a corporate dynamo who provides the perfect teaching example of Rahu in lagna. Like Mr. Bushmaster Snake above, Welch's nativity features an empowered parivartamsha even stronger than Bush-41. Welch's double parivartamsha involves Lagna + Rahu's lord + Ketu's lord. Welch had three marriages. The first lasted 28 years (a full Shani cycle; Shani is dignified) during which Welch almost never came home from work (Shani). He was virtually always busy achieving material status. Whether the worksite was in his corporate office, meetings in a distant city, or on the competitive golf course, it meant he simply wasn't connected to spouse at home. His second marriage partner was a powerful attorney with her own often-traveling practice, which guaranteed that his constant goal-focused movement and her work would not often overlap. A third union with his "retirement companion" involves more time spent with the partner, but in old age Rahu has already reached peak achievement. Indeed soon after Rahu-Ketu mature at 48 Rahu's urgent movements start to dwindle.

    • Elizabeth I and Catherine the Great were two remarkable high-achieving women who lived during times of patriarchy. Rahu-1 propelled them nevertheless to the heights of power. Elizabeth had a number of relationships with men whose movements were notably "scattered" such as the seafaring Sir Francis Drake.

    • Empress Catherine-Rahu murdered her first husband-Ketu when she literally could not make sense of his scatter-plot movement pattern and suspected him of espionage against her. She liked to mount huge stallions (Rahu ascendance) and ride into the countryside in manly disguise (Rahu) while keeping as her lovers various minor military officers whom she dispersed into the wilderness (Ketu) when she tired of them.

    • Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.  = Rahu + Mangala-1 traveled frequently and extensively, leaving his often-referenced wife at home. (L-7 in 1 = social personality 1 = identified with married status 7.) His dalliances were hidden from the public (Vrischika = 7) during his notable public career. However, decades after his tragic death, the memories of his peers began to reveal a life of both public dignity and personal infidelity.

    • Young JFK, Jr. had a complicated Rahu-Ketu situation with Rahu in lagna + Chandra in 7 along with Rahu-Ketu on the navamsha lagna axis. It is a mirror image of his mother Jacqueline B. Kennedy's Ketu in lagna + Chandra in 7. Age 39 at the time of death, he had been married only briefly to a lovely young woman who, aside from her loveliness, was distinguished mainly by her Ketu-ish dislike of focused attention (incoherent Ketu).

    • USA Pres-33 Harry Truman's wife Bess stayed home in Missouri while her husband traveled for politics and later lived in the capital, a thousand miles away. According to wikipedia. Bess was the classic Ketu wife:

      • " Bess found the White House's lack of privacy distasteful. As her husband put it later, she was "not especially interested" in the "formalities and pomp ".... Though she steadfastly fulfilled the social obligations of her position, she did only what she thought was necessary. ...In most years of her husband's presidency Mrs. Truman did not live in Washington other than during the social season when her presence was expected."

Extraordinary Vigor = Larger than Life

Rahu in 1 = insatiable lust for life, desire to compete, and a compulsion to spring ahead of the pack.

Uses the genetic flesh-body appearance as a platform from which to launch the Great Leap, but does not remain consistent with the social-attribute package. Passion to become someone better, higher, different than given at birth.

Rahu in bhava-1 = craves a privileged bodily life-force = striving to establish an exalted social identity. One harbors a great desire to be recognized as a competitive warrior, athlete, or body-model, although one has not yet earned access to the ultimate source of vitality.

Via Rahu's characteristic over-promotion, the native often gets into illegal competitions, illicit athletics or misguided sexual excitements that are "over their head".

In order to propel oneself to higher social station, Rahu the Restless must produce greater passion, more vigorous movement, stronger sexual energy, and higher capacity for sustained warfare. Rahu in 1 follows the dictum of Julius Caesar: veni, vidi, vici (I came, I saw, I conquered).

Rahu must always be larger than life. Rahu in 1 becomes "a legend in one's own mind" = a person whose self-image reflects mesmerizing attributes of distinctive power, extraordinary vitality, and overall greatness.

    • Rahu in bhava-1 = social attribute package =

    • extraordinary, uncoiling of passionate energies

    • = personality cult

Often a flamboyant lifestyle, full of sexual adventure. More extreme results if Chandra occupies Arudra, Swati, or ShataVishaka; or if Rahu occupies a rashi of Mangala or Rahu accepts drishti from Mangala.

    Drugs and False Energizers

Unfortunately the super-human agenda of Rahu-1 is impossible for a mere human to sustain.

There are indeed times of remarkable achievement, notably the Vimshottari mahadasha and many of the well-angled bhukti periods of Rahu. However in the modern age many Rahu-rising nativities develop drug and alcohol problems.

Everything Rahu does is artificial, falsely credentialed, and unearned. Unless the lagnesha has exceptional integrity, or some other graha grants authentic access to divine empowerment, Rahu the Naga Poseur - who does not have proper access to the deeper sources of life-force regeneration - will ultimately need some artificial fuel.

Rahu-1 clings to a fraudulent self-image of godlike health and endless youthful competitive vigor. Especially if Mangala is involved, Rahu-1 are often "hard partiers" on the "work hard, play hard" programme.

However, Rahu's need to maintain a facade of extraordinary, dominant liveliness often fuels significant drug use. False chemical vitalizers are often used as "health supplements" and "natural stimulants". The common western "uppers", alcohol, nicotine, and caffeine, are routinely abused.

    Action

By means of dynamic personality and sheer physical vitality, one wishes to obtain the privileges of a higher birth.

Great Leap Forward via Action: Direct, Dominating, and Competitive Rahu's Great Leap Forward in bhava-1 creates a sudden advance to a higher level of social privilege via a shape-shifting change

    • in the physical appearance,

    • via traits ofapparent"alpha" superiority

    • style of dress, posture, gait,

    • sexual pursuit, vital sexuality

    • direct, forward,andvigorous movement

During the mahadasha of Rahu and bhukti periods of Rahu, one may "re-invent" the social personality to matchthe customs of a "higher" social echelon.

    Psychology of Unsatisfied Ambition

With Rahu in 1, the native compensates for a profound sense of personal insufficiency via compulsive struggle to be desirable.Just being a simple, coherent single human person is not enough when Rahu occupies the house of core identity.

    • The early conditions of (well masked) abuse are so influential upon personality development that the native does not consciously remember one's natural personality; or in viewing one's relatively dull natural attributes physical and social, one may become filled with contempt or disgust for one's inborn insufficiency.

    • The channeled elements of appearance or appropriated attributes, while false, are much more satisfying. the native may alter the narrative of one's mundane upbringing to give the impression of higher or more interesting circumstances.

    • Caretakers who were vicious or vulgar may acquire a halo of nobility. the native dyes one's hair, changes one's name, speaks a new language, wears a new costume, moves to a new city, even surgically changes the body parts, as one adapts to a charismatic but false more-desirable, more-elite identity.

Restless Dissatisfaction with the Human Body

Rahu in 1 provides a fuel source of restless vitality, which drives an engine of constant seeking for competitive advantage and high-stakes wins. Rahu in 1 surges forward from one echelon to the next. Driven by dissatisfaction with the limitations of the human body, one feels compelled to imitate the impossibly beautiful and powerful lifestyle of the gods.

Chronic conflicts, tricky enemies, and addictions difficulties

    • "Damned if you do; damned if you don't."

    Rahu = 1 + Ketu = 7 = bhava-6 = both 6th-from-Rahu and 12th-from-Ketu.

The already quite difficult 6th bhava of conflict + addictions enters an additionally disadvantaged bad-angle position. When the lord of 6 is activated, the Rahu-1 nativity may have a feeling of being trapped in falsification resulting in chronic addictive behaviors.

    • the notoriously difficult 6th-from-Rahu = an attempt at quick self-elevation during which one becomes the victim of fraud or tricky deceit during the self-medicating (6) process.

      • Graha in 6th from Rahu = enemies who are sneaky, argumentative, and often able to use the native s own tricks against him.

    • the notoriously difficult 12th-from-Ketu = an attempt to withdraw from involvements with the medicines (6) during which one is prevented from "clean cut" separation because 12th-from-Ketu frustratingly 'dissolves the detachment' and re-invigorates the attachment to anesthetic or psychotropic substances.

    • This sort of self-medicating process which develops on its basis is adversarial to the native 's true spiritual self and unsatisfying to the point of impoverishment or physical illness, yet psychically (Ketu) it is quite hard to prevent getting chronically "sucked back in".

    • If L-6 also occupies 12th-from-Chandra there could be serious self-entrapment, self-medication, and self-victimization issues.

    • Divorce, which converts the spouse into an enemy, could result in extremely high conflict if undertaken during a period of Rahu or Ketu.

    Relationships

Naturally, Ketu in 7 suggests detachment and disinterest on the part of the spouse, along with a tolerance for long separations. The Rahu native by contrast needs to demonstrate competitively high levels of sexual and athletic vitality. Often the marriage partners spend a great deal of time apart.

    Examples:

    • USA Pres-41, George H. W. Bushworked in Washington DC during most of his adult career, but Mrs. Barbara Bush remained in Texas where she raised their six children. Mr. Bush returned for the occasional weekend and their annual family holiday in Maine, but otherwise the two spouses saw rather little of each other until he was elected president.

    • Jack Welch fathered four children during his first marriage which lasted for 28 years, but he was rarely home during years of constant self-promotion and aggressive business development.

Rahu Mahadasha- Rahu bhukti = Rahu pratyantardasha

    During Rahu periods =

A surreptitious intruder or poseur enters the realm of the physical body-attributes and social-personality identity.

The goal of the interloper= to break limits and challenge assumptions. Often this person is a new partner who promises to help the native break through barriers of one's previous life and become a more powerful new entity.

One's passion for connecting to this enticing exotic agent is disruptive but exciting and each iteration breaks some limit upon how many and which type of socially classified attributes one is allowed to possess.

the native may enjoy considerable success in activities which involve surreptitious utilizationof the personality attributes of another.

    • Rahu natives sometimes self-describe as "chameleon"-- the small reptile who changes its skin to mimic the color and light patterns of every new environment, in order to avoid detection

    • One may vigorously and dynamically "re-invent" oneself, taking on new appearances and behaviors in order to infiltrate customarily forbidden realms.

    • One emerges as an agent provocateur, disrupting the dull routines of conventional order

    • A proclivity toward espionage and usurper of privilege become fully manifest

    • The method of masking one's true identity in order to appear more charming and more desirable to the legitimate tenants of the forbidden realm will involve a certain amount of trickery.

    Deception

    Deceiving Others - perhaps unconsciously

This native is never what one seems to be. However the native 's consciousness is often completely co-opted by the infiltration of the hitch-hiking personality. One may be perpetually locked in a battle between the birth identity and the increasingly predatory claims of the interloping entity.

    • When Rahu occupies 1, there is a good opportunity for what modern western psychology calls "personality disorder" and its attendant reactive depression.

Normal people who interact with this native may begin to detect the presence of two persons in one body. One aspect of the personality is apparently glamorous, glittering, rich, accomplished, elite, or has some other super-desirable quality which distinguishes the native from the undesirable commonplace Joe. The other is ... undesirable commonplace Joe.

    • Example: the unconventional and larger-than-life personality-aura of "Marilyn Monroe" vs. the conventional girl with an at-birth identity = "Norma Jean Mortensen".

Similar result from Rahu + Chandra, Rahu + lagna, and slightly lesser but still noticeable with Rahu + lagnesha.

Rahu in navamsha lagna enacts the amplification mandate= disregard for conventional boundaries or practices in marriage; Rahu in 7 give adventurous Rahu motive to the spouse.

    • E.g., Rahu in Makara (law, convention) navamsha, one may disregard the convention of getting legally married even while presenting a social image of reputable and respectable partnership.

    Self-deception.

    • One becomes increasingly convinced that one indeed was born into the higher realms

    • The focus on birthing the false self, and maintaining the fraudulent identity, is so intense under certain planetary configurations (e.g. Rahu's lord = uchcha) that one may develop narcissistic traits to the point of Narcissistic Personality Disorder

    • a new spouse or partner who enters the life at onset of Rahu periodis typically under the impression that the false self promoted during Rahu period is indeed the native 's true self.

    • Unless Guru also supports Rahu, the subsequent Guru period may signal a collapse of relationships built upon the premise of Rahu's false promises. (This is one of the reasons that marriages contracted during Rahu periods of any length are inherently problematic in the long term.)

The true laws of one's existence may be re-established during a subsequent Shani period

Rahu periods for Rahu in 1 + other graha

Rahu periods for Rahu in 1 + other graha

    • Rahu accepting drishti of Guru may, during Rahu period, enormously expand Rahu's quest to enter the highest ranks of social validation of the body-personality

    • Rahu influenced by Shani by contrast experiences more constraint to the basic conditions of birth, and despite self-reinvention persists in a programme of diligent effort necessary to achieve material goals

    • Rahu + Mangala or receiving drishti of Kuja provides an engine of dynamic, aggressive, competitive energy which propels the native into the highest echelons of empowerment during Rahu period, and also during Mangala periods to a lesser extent.

    Rahu the Appropriator

    • Rahu the Appropriator claims the privilege and vitality of another's attribute-shell appearance and socially validated qualities.

    • Rahu the Trickster may presume entitlement to manifest the vital-force including the appearance, intelligence, voice and gestures of another. Rahu in 1 inhabits the personality of a predecessor.

    • One may be compelled to channel the persona of another entity. (Marilyn Monroe many times said that since childhood, it had been her ambition to she had been channeling the sultry but troubled actress Jean Harlow.)

    • Rahu the Rakshasa feeds upon chaotic and manipulative circumstances within the physical body and the social personality. The disruption begins at the time of conception, and typically the mother is upset throughout her pregnancy.

    • Rahu the Intruder disrupts the customary process of personality development, upsets the normal expression of the life force being sometimes too strong and sometimes too weak , and makes one privy to exotic and potentially dangerous self-concept . Self-importance swings between humiliating g shame and fabulous grandeur.

    • the native may be charismatically attractive, but one always wants the prohibited, the illicit, and the proscribed.

Desire for experience: to see one's own image projected upon a higher level

Rahu provides an extreme desire to possess the power to create a new entity, in one's own image , along with the urge to satisfy that desire at nearly any cost.

    • Rahu will break the death taboo.

    • Rahu does not mind killing people to reach a desired experience.Even vast numbers of people (Truman, Mussolini , George H. W. Bush). Rahu will destroy life on a scale proportional to the strength of His lord, if complete destruction of the Other (7) seems instrumentally necessary to achieve Rahu's goal of creation of the better and more powerful new personality.

    • Rahu in 1 = Ketu in 7. Rahu-1 tends to consume the life-force energy of the spouse, leaving the spouse in a weakened, apathetic, and socially marginalized position. The spouse may appear dull and uninteresting compared to the exciting, daring, scene-stealing Rahu-1 native.

Rahu's style of fulfilling His desires is largely determined by His planetary lord. Yet one distinctive feature of His activities is that they tend to involve deception and sneaking into forbidden places under false pretenses.

    individual identity

This person really wants to be special! May have been deprived of the mother's attention in childhood.

    • Lifelong craving for validation and recognition of the exotic, unusually powerful, or extraordinary qualitiesin one's muscular, fleshly empowerment and one's social personality attributes.

Rahu disrupts the customary methods of individual boundary marking Andbody-identity development.

Rahu destroys customary moral boundaries in the structure of the personality. One pursues each arising desire with intensity and passion. Utterly self-focused. Little sense of the impact of one's actions upon others. There is plenty of "pathos" but very little "empathy".

    • Due to the intensity of Rahu's craving to possess a person, an experience, or an empowerment, Rahu blunts the humane "sharing" sensibilities. the native with Rahu in lagna, particularly if Rahu is joined with a malefic, will struggle to comprehend the feelings of others. Rahu destabilizes compassionand replaces humane empathy with reactive reptilian desire.

    • All graha gain dignity in lagna, and Rahu is no exception. the native with Rahu in lagna is an extraordinary person who stands out from the crowd. the native is socially identified with foreign interests, the revolutionary underclass, mysterious or taboo behaviors, or a threat to order implied in catastrophic social changes.

    • Total result depends entirely on Rahu's lord and any Graha which may co-occupy the lagna. Rahu in lagna does not give Shukra's fair and balanced beauty. Rather, Rahu confers a sultry, smokyyet charismatic aura. the native is psychically hungry for empowermentsOf every variety. One may be loved, or feared; admired or despised; to Rahu it does not matter the means - so long as the end is validationof personal power.

    • One seeks recognition and achievement, and is obsessively hungry for material-physical-sensual experience.

    • A karaka for promiscuity. Ketu will occupy bhava-7 therefore the spouse is unsuitable or ambivalent, and the native feels detached or indifferent toward the marital alliance. Divorce is not implied, as apathy toward marriage is too strong to motivate finding a solution to the problem.

    • the native pursues each desire as it arises.

    • One is concerned only to attract validationfor the personality, get attention, and empower the physical body. Should Shani influence Rahu, expect more self-deprivation and self-restraint according to social mores, but the apathy toward marriage alliance remains profound.

Native has an unusual individual identity. Craving to advance one's social position far beyond the rank into which one was born. Naga-energy in the personality makes one a bit of a poseur by nature. Shani + Rahu in lagna = one who may downplay a commonplace upbringing, attempting to Appear more exotic.

One is strangely attractive; and prone to take risksin one's life (usually in order to gain attention or power).

    • If Shani is associated with Rahu in lagna, one takes are calculated riskswith scarce resources, reduced by conservative fears; similar for Shani = lagnesha + Rahu

    • if Kuja is associated with Rahu in lagna, prone to adventure with physical risk; accidents; similar for Kuja = lagnesha + Rahu

    • if Chandra is associated with Rahu in lagna, prone to dramatic relationships with psycho-emotional risk; similar for Chandra = lagnesha + Rahu

    • if Shukra is associated with Rahu in lagna, the native is remarkably attractive but prone to sensual excess and financial risk; similar for Shukra = lagnesha + Rahu

Often the mark of high performance in the area of life controlled by Rahu's lord, due to b> Ambitious risk-taking. (However if Rahu's lord = neechcha, Rahu amplifies neechchaqualities which can lead those risks to fail.)

In psychic terms: if Rahu + malefics, the birth personality is conflicted. The birth itself is challenged. Native must struggle to enforce their right to life. Native 'sneaks in' to the conception in a surreptitious act: stealing their drop of amrita!

    Oily or smoky Appearance.

    • For example, Elizabeth I, queen of England used an oily, lead-based cosmetic cover to hide the smallpox cavities on her face.

    • the native may favor oily grooming products such as hair cream or cosmetics

    • One may have a somewhat naturally oily and darker than average complexion if Rahu occupies a rashi of Guru or Mangala.

    6th-from-Rahu + 12th-from-Ketu

Recognition as a competitive champion, first-and-best wielder of Force: Rahu wants it - but can Rahu get it?

The bhava which = 6th-from-Rahu + 12th-from-Ketu = most conflicted, adversarial, toxic, frustrating, every-way-but-loose environment of the nativity

    • Periods of the lord of bhava-6 are therefore often even more difficult than usual regarding matters of litigation following broken contracts and accusatory argument, particularly if combined with a Rahu-Ketu transit to the axis of bhava 6-12.

By knowing the axis of radix Rahu-Ketu, it will be possible to predict which department of life will cause consistently the most persistently volatile and recurring yet seemingly uncontrollable trouble for the native .

    Compared to 6th-from-Shani

6th-from-Shani-related disagreement and conflict improves with age, neutrality, and patience.

    • However, 6th-from-Rahu + 12th-from-Ketu variety of conflict due to overstepping the bounds of one's rightful place (6th-from-Rahu) plus loss of meaningful engagement due to apathy (12th-from-Ketu) reappears in a new guise during each subsequent Rahu bhukti.

    6th-from-Rahu

6th-from-Rahu = the disagreements, disappointments, broken contracts, accusation, arguments, and adversarial relationships which originate in the native 's attempt to self-elevate via quick, unconventional and generally unearned increase in social rank and privilege.

6th-from-Rahu shows the adversarial relationships, illness, and financial imbalance such as debt leading to poverty or servitude, which are triggered by the native 's instinctive desire (Rahu) to challenge boundaries and leap-frog over customary stepwise earnings.

The negative consequences of 6th-from angles are karmic in origin. Persons whom one may have inadvertently harmed in past lives may suddenly appear as exploiters, enemies, or disease agents during periods of Rahu or lord of 6th-from-Rahu. They enforce servitude, start conflicts, and cause or treat disease during this period.

    • Effects of 6th-from-Rahu do not necessarily reflect any present-life crime or dishonor committed by the native . The origins of Rahu-Ketu drama are often shrouded in the mists of previous lives.

    • Neutral acceptance of the realities of "6th-from" = accusations, disregard for agreements, and ill-will in humanity is often the only available strategy for dealing with this recurring situation.

    12th-from-Ketu

12th-from-Ketu = loss of vitality, dissolution of enthusiasm, drained energies, erosion of conviction, disengagement, and general ennui regarding persons, topics, and relationships which are already weakened due to Ketu's residence in the bhava.

    • Effects of 12th-from-Ketu are relatively subtle yet often deeply frustrating; there is not enough energy or enthusiasm available to summon, not enough fuel in the tank, to get going toward solution of 12th-from-Ketu problems.

    • Neutral acceptance of inevitable loss is typically the only available strategy.

    Amelioration

Naturally, if favorable graha should occupy or own the bhava which is 6th-from-Rahu + 12th-from-Ketu, the negative results can be cushioned.

    For example,

    • the lord of 6th-from-Rahu-in-1 for USA Pres-41, George H. W. Bush "Sr." = uchcha Shani in 3 = 10th-from-6th.

    • Whatever marital discord may have afflicted Mr. Bush's domestic life, it was largely buffered by the dignity of national leadership (uchcha Shani) and the benefits of an orderly (Shani) communications process (3).

    Exacerbation

Naturally, if weak or undignified graha should occupy or own the bhava which is 6th-from-Rahu + 12th-from-Ketu, the negative results can be intensified. Particularly the "personal" graha - Surya, Chandra, Budha - are afflicted when they occupy the adversarial 6th-from-Rahu + 12th-from-Ketu.

    For example,

    • Empress Catherine the Great suffers Chandra + Shukra + Guru in 6th-from-Rahu + 12th-from-Ketu.

    • Chandra + Shukra = the "spoiled" combination, which Guru gives broad permission to take whichever young lovers might interest her (Shukra-Mithuna), commit murder and otherwise falsely accuse, attack and poison (6) her enemies.

    • She did indeed have enemies around every corner, given the "abundance" of exploitation, conflict, and jealousy granted by Lord Guru a mentally-argumentative (also highly sexualized) rashi of Budha.

    • True, she was able to dispose of many of them during her lifetime. However one shudders to think of the conditions of her future lives, given the amount of karmic payback she incurred by her 12th-from-Ketu reckless disregard for human life.

Agency of recurring problems, listed by axis of Rahu-Ketu:

    • Rahu-resides-1 = 6th-from = bhava-6 = native may be forced into servitude, conflict, sickness, or crime by chronic addictions, jealousy and greed; arguments and accusations; marital discord and divorce

    • Rahu-resides-2 = 6th-from = bhava-7 = native may be forced into servitude, conflict, sickness, or crime by adversarial or uncooperative first marriage and exploitive terms of legal contracts

    • Rahu-resides-3 = 6th-from = bhava-8 = native may be forced into servitude, conflict, sickness, or crime by hostile secret relationships, and spouse's wealth or in-law's behavior

    • Rahu-resides-4 = 6th-from = bhava-9 = native may be forced into servitude, conflict, sickness, or crime by academic scholarship and religious convictions; by hostility of the father; also via sanctimonious or self-righteous 3rd marriage

    • Rahu-resides-5 = 6th-from = bhava-10 = native may be forced into servitude, conflict, sickness, or crime by obligation to adhere to public moral standards, need to maintain a top organizational position, professional career responsibilities and leadership duties

    • Rahu-resides-6 = 6th-from = bhava-11 = native may be forced into servitude, conflict, sickness, or crime by unreachable material goals and adversarial social networks

    • Rahu-resides-7 = 6th-from = bhava-12 = native may be forced into servitude, conflict, sickness, or crime by long sojourn in distant lands, dreams and divinations, enclosed rooms, and research into unknown subjects.

    • Rahu-resides-8 = 6th-from = bhava-1 = native may be forced into servitude, conflict, sickness, or crime by hostile social response to the appearance of the physical body and critical, argumentative, or accusing behaviors embedded in the social personality

    • Rahu-resides-9 = 6th-from = bhava-2 = native may be forced into servitude, conflict, sickness, or crime by disharmonious family history, libraries treasuries and collections of wealth, and dishonest, avaricious second marriage

    • Rahu-resides-10 = 6th-from = bhava-3 = native may be forced into servitude, conflict, sickness, or crime by commercial business, media messaging communications, administrative behaviors, the workgroup or team, and disagreeable playmates or siblings

    • Rahu-resides-11 = 6th-from = bhava-4 = native may be forced into servitude, conflict, sickness, or crime by parental or ethnic customs; by hostility of the mother; also via parochial, bigoted or prejudiced 4th marriage

    • Rahu-resides-12 = 6th-from = bhava-5 = native may be forced into servitude, conflict, sickness, or crime by politics, speculative ventures, entertainment performance arts, gambling and games, expressions of personal genius, charismatic personalities, and behavior of children
