Dear Barbara, You say matters in Domain 12 occur in the astral plane, imagination.

I have read that according to the 30th Ch. entitled Effects of Planets in Bhavas in Kalyana Varma's Saravali.

It says "If Mars occupies 12th, mangala-12 will have diseased eyes, will fall in moral sense, will kill his wife, be a talebearer, be fierce and will contract humility and imprisonment" through no fault of his.

I have Kuja in my 12th with Ketu, and at the age of 19, iwas imprisoned for no fault of mine, is that Kuja's effect?

So what else should I expect, as obviously it does not merely occur in the astral plane?

This is not a simple question.

You will need to examine (1) the Vimshottari dasha periods in effect at the time of imprisonment (2) the relationship of the major and minor period lords at the time of imprisonment (3) rashi and Nakshatra of Kuja and same for Ketu (4) incoming drishti to vyaya bhava (5) condition of both Kuja and Ketu in navamsha and other varga ( 6) transits at the time of imprisonment (7) many other things!

Keep in mind that the imagination is absolutely real. It is the image factory Like a greenhouse, the imagination is a protected zone produces the first emergent growth of the seeds of [akashic memory patterning] which is sometimes referred to in a poorly defined and threatening way as // karma // .

Dear Barbara,What is the affect of a Mars 8th house aspect onto its house of exaltation (capricorn)? I am a cancer lagna so Mars is Yogakaraka, but it worries me that Mars is in the 12th. I have heard that when a planet aspects its own house then this is beneficial, but does this also apply to houses of exaltation too?

As always, the best approach to seeing the range of likely outcomes for a particularly planetary position will be a case study or two.

Here by serendipity are two such examples of well-known public figures, both masculine figures and both documented in the journalistic press over the course of their lifetimes.

The example nativities are both a bit different.

Once there is sufficient room for physical movement within the marriage relationship, then Professor Mangala's drishti into His [uchcha] bhava-7 Makara can begin to produce some valuable results for society [Makara].

The Prince Consort delivered a long and vigorous career in roles of symbolic, iconic social visibility [Makara].

Ketu in bhava-10 made Prince Philip's elite authority seem a bit vaguely defined. Yet, the strong drishti from Mangala into Makara-7 provided substantial compensation. PP's respected WW-2 military career [Mangala] in defense of Britain did protect his position [10] from loss of legitimacy-- (as it would have been no doubt, if Ketu was not compensated).

The Prince Consort was notoriously outspoken, to the extent of putting his foot in his mouth on numerous occasions. From a Jyotishavidua perspectiv, this impulsive verbal behavior could be attributed to the chatty, hyperactive Mangala-Budha pair in 12 along with Mangala's drishti to bhava-3 communications.

Indeed for the Karkata born, presuming that the marriage and business partnership environments provide enough physical space to avoid engulfment, Mangala's 4th-drishti into Kanya-bhava-3 typically causes more trouble than His drishti into bhava-7.

  • Mangala's impact upon bhava-3 is incisively and penetratingly critical.
  • Weaponized sentences could be beneficial for an investigative journalist.
  • Less so for modern royals who are expected to be at all times diplomatic.

Professor Kuja's verbal weaponry did not improve the popularity of the Prince Consort.

Shani-ruled Pushya lagna tends to produce agents of governance and social order

Budha-ruled Aśleṣa tends to produce communicators including therapists, attorneys, and some truly great writers.

For Prince Philip's Budha-ruled Aśleṣa lagna, yogakaraka Mangala is nevertheless somewhat adversarial (Budha and Kuja hate each other) and Mangala's ability to disrupt agreements and trusts (7) via the Kuja Dosha is more empowered.

In the end, as the estimable B.V. Raman Jyotiṣika (1912-1988) often wrote, astrology is a science of tendencies. There can be no cut-and-dry answer to the question of whether Mangala's drishti from 12 into His uttama rashi of Makara-7 is helpful or harmful.

The outcome depends on many other factors, including the rising nakshatra, graha residing in sthāna-7, and graha yuti Kuja, as these two examples aptly demonstrate.
