"During a growth period, you need more amusement , more grounding, and more chocolate ."

In addition to mantra, it is possible to follow Shri Parashara's instruction for remedial action of giving a cow, buffalo, or goat in charity.

  • www.heifer.org provides life-giving animals and veterinary skills training to impoverished families throughout our world. It's easy and fun to select a charitable gift from their online catalog of buffaloes, cows, goats and more.

  • www.oxfamamericaunwrapped.com/animal-gifts.html also offers a lovely catalog of animal-donation selections

Seva

Gu_coralRose.jpg

Charitable service is often a benefit of Guru periods, which are generous, inclusive, and compassionate by character.

  • Acts of Charity should not be random but rather very carefully targeted.
  • The trick is to target beneficiaries who have precisely one's own dilemma, but in a slightly worse degree.
  • Then, offer help according to the skills in which one is qualified, prepared, and able. It might be something as simple as offering a smile. It might be something as highly skilled as offering a medical surgery.
  • Guru's Compassionate action does not entail assumption of responsibility for the results. (Responsibility is a function of Shani.) The purpose of Seva is for the one who is offering to gain wisdom - not to produce any material results.
  • It may be enlightening to observe the beneficiaries; but more importantly, observe oneself.
  • First, notice that each offering of Seva clears an internal space and unloads a weighty burden within the self. The act of compassionate, skillful giving with no expectation of outcome produces a feeling of Lightness.
  • Next, if one is seeking information about this particular variety of suffering, it may be valuable to observe the beneficiaries as they engage with their misery. Listen to their narrative. What are their expectations-assumptions-priorities-plans? To what extent does one's own internal narrative match the narrative of the suffering ones? Altering one's own beliefs about the painful situation may be quite effective to eliminate the pain.
From properly targeted SEVA, one may enjoy a quick answer to the question which propelled one into karmic service in the first place.

Other remedial and supportive measures appropriate to Guru Mahadasha :

for some nativities (not Thula and not Makara) the gemstone for Vrihaspati may be enjoyed

  • for all nativities, wearing of peach-toned, orange, and golden colored clothing can remind one to develop Guru's generosity in daily life and expand His tolerant, inclusive worldview

  • for all nativities, increase of dharma wisdom via acts of charity and service teaching (paid or volunteer) = very suitable offerings to Professor Guru

Overall results depend upon Brihaspati's rulership empowerments , as counted

  1. from the radical lagna
  2. from the Chandra lagna
  3. from the navamsha lagna

Brihaspati's job in the nativity = to carry forward from the Akashic account books, credit from charitable works offered in parallel lives .

  • When we have been compassionate and caring of the welfare of others in parallel lives , a credit is established.

  • When writing out the script of the present lifetime, the spirit may decide to use this credit as a counterbalance to excessively hard karma.

During the Guru mahadasha, one's energy trajectory ascends successfully into guidance and patronage roles such as teacher-preacher, father, professor, theorist, ideologue, philosopher, tour-guide, trail-guide, scout-master, master-teacher, guru.

Professor Guru is naturally suited to wise , inclusive, philosophical and humanistic roles such as patriarch, patron, pontificator, pope, or high-priestess

Throughout its 16 years duration, Mahadasha of Guru typically maintains an environment which is overall optimistic, abundant and expansive.

  • However, not all bhukti periods of the Guru Mahadasha are easy. The character of the bhukti depends upon the behavior of the bhuktipathi.

  • due to the different roles that Brihaspati can play in regard to the 12 radix lagna and the 12 radix Chandra lagna positions.

Growth challenges via dushthamsha angle = difficult at first, better with experience, comfortable and pleasing results overall. Effects during the bhukti periods of graha = located:

  • 3rd-from the bhava occupied by Guru

  • 6th-from the bhava occupied by Guru

  • 8th-from the bhava occupied by Guru

  • 12th-from the bhava occupied by Guru

Guru = bhratrupathi-3 or rogesha-6 (Guru also enemy Budha):

In the overall context of good will and the advance of dharma within the life of the native, also expect some arguments both mental and physical, both internal and external. These can be handled with compassion and intelligence; nevertheless they must be encountered and managed.

  • Thula lagna or Thula Chandra: Guru L-3+rogesha-6 * mental health + fleshly health

  • Maraka lagna or Makara Chandra : Guru * L-3+ruler-of-12

  • because Guru = rogesha-6 , potential health concerns for radical Karkata lagna physical health or Karkata Chandra emotional health

Guru = randhresha-8 or ruler-of-12 :

Mesha lagna * Mesha Chandra Guru =dharmesha-9 +ruler-of-12 (Although Guru = the teaching lord, expect planned misalignments requiring realignment attention during foreign travel or in sanctuaries.)

Vrishabha lagna * Vrishabha Chandra and Simha lagna* Simha Chandra because Guru = randhresha-8 . (Sudden, forced or catastrophic change - but with favorable outcome.)

Children

Guru bhukti of any mahadasha are naturally fertile periods which tend to produce children on the basis of Brihaspati's role as a natural putra-putriki karaka without regard to bhava rulerships or other rules. Even an otherwise child-resistant nativity may produce children during Guru Bhukti, so long as samchara Rahu-Ketu are transiting a key lagna.

The swabhukti is usually a fertile era.

  • France-Queen 1775-1793 Marie Antoinette 12-Dec-1778 child-1 born * Guru-Guru swabhukti * Guru putriki-karaka

  • Newspapers 1863-1951 plutocrat William Randolph Hearst enjoyed the birth of his first child during his Guru-Guru swabhukti in 1904.

Events related to bhava rulership

Higher Education and Theoretical or Doctrinal Awards

Naturally Guru's bhava determines the manifestation of this bhukti. Overall, Guru periods signify the arrival of a significant teacher-preacher figure within wise, sacred locations. The locations are often determined by the residential bhava of Guru. For example Guru-12 location would be meditative or imaginative or distant world, whereas Guru-9 would be a classic university setting but Guru-4 would be a local settlement and Guru-3 likely a commercial business.

The emphasis is on wisdom and expansion. Periods of Brihaspati the university-karaka are likely times to complete a tertiary diploma following many (Guru) years of study, particularly if Guru is otherwise associated by rashi or by bhava, and particularly if the native intends to use their knowledge in order to teach.

Marriage

Any Guru period during any mahadasha may support ceremonial marriage, if Brihaspati rules either the navamsha-1 or the navamsha-7 AND there occurs a suitable transit of Rahu-Ketu contacting one of the required axes of the nativity. Marriage during periods of Guru indicates a fertile mate, a philosopher, a patron, a preacher or a priest, one well suited to the role of father.

Maraka Agency for Professor Brihaspati * Exit Opening for fleshdeath

When Guru rules bhava-2 or bhava-7, Brihaspati becomes a potential marana-karaka who gives teachings upon the subject of saturation (2) and balanced completion of the contract (7).

Guru and Shani are mutually neutral graha who respect each other's territory and rarely impinge upon each other's agenda. Shani periods generally signify adherence to the laws of the social order.

Events related to Shani's bhava location, rulerships, or karaka functions

Leadership Duties, Public Respect, and Professional Recognition

When Shani rules the 7th or 10th radical bhava or10th navamsha or 10th-from-Chandra, Professor Shanaicarya carries the potential to elevate the native into socially recognized positions of leadership duty associated with governance, regulation, systematization, hierarchies, and the maintenance of the social order. Promotion and obtainment of professional portfolio may be expected.

For maximum results, Shani must occupy a supportive angle vis-a-vis Mahadashapathi Rahuva, and Shani should possess other strengths via bhava rulership, razi, companion graha, drizti, inter alia.

Marriage

Any Shani bhukti during any mahadasha may signal the timing of ceremonial wedding * formalization of alliance, if Shani rules either the navamsha-1 or the navamsha-7 AND there occurs a suitable transit of Rahu-Ketu to one of the required axes of the nativity.

Weddings matched to a jarana-karaka Shani bhukti especially indicate an elder, more experienced, or more senior mate. Shani durosha-karaka also suggests a sober and socially responsible person characterized by longevity and endurance. Shani niyama-karaka indicates that Shani-timed weddings (in any mahadasha) may be the consequence less of affection and more of social rules. The spouses may be marrying as an expression of social duty or in conformance with the expectations of others. Shani-timed events often carry the weight of pressing material-social obligations.

In the case of marriage timing, when Shani rules either the 1st or 7th navamsha, and samchara Rahu-Ketu contact a prominent lagna, then a Guru-Shani period for a native of socially correct age for marriage may exchange a vow of marriage.

  • Two Women 1934- drama-commerce Sophia Loren married her husband Carlo Ponti the celebrated Italian film director during her Guru-Shani period in Sept-1957, her age 23. Due to her Shani-yuti-Rahu in bhava-8 Makara, the marriage was considered scandalous. In their homeland Italy, divorce was not allowed by law due to the theocratic Roman Catholic government thus a lawfully timed (Shani) marriage became unlawful (Rahu). Mr. Ponti was separated from his wife and had been involved with Ms. Loren for seven years; yet in the eyes of the Church the union was taboo. The marriage-contract became a central karmic focus, but exciting and ambitious too. The couple remained faithfully married for fifty years, until his death.

  • Newspapers 1863-1951 plutocrat William Randolph Hearst married his first wife when he was 40 (Shani elder) and she was 21, in April-1903. Shani rules navamsha * samchara Rahu-Ketu via Kanya-Meena contact Chandra-Kanya Their first child was born in the same Guru-Shani period began in 1904; Shani rules 5th-from-Chandra.

  • USA-Sen-Mass 1932-2009 Teddy Kennedy married for a second time on 03-July-1992 * Guru-Shani period, Shani rules- navamsha-7* R-K gochara Dhanuzya-Mithunaya contact navamsha Zukra

Other events

  • Iran-Shahani 1932-2001 Soraya Esfandiari Bakhtiari endured a very public divorce during her Guru-Shani period in 1958. She had been unable to conceive a child during six years of marriage to Iran-Shah 1919-1980 Mohamed Reza Pahlavi . According to the rules (Shani) of the Islamic monarchy, she faced the choice of accepting additional wives taken by her husband in his quest for a male heir, or divorce. Shani being the sixth ruler for her Simha nativity and nishturabhashi yoga in bhava-6, she chose divorce and she never remarried.

Budha-types duties are typically associated with communication, commercial business , marketing, instruction, media-messaging, evangelism, publication, reports and announcements, planning and analysis, management, manufacturing, manipulation, handcraft, apprenticeship, clinical practice, and cooperative work in cohort, entourage, ensemble performers, or team environments.

For maximum results, Budha must occupy a supportive angle vis-a-vis Mahadashapathi Guru, and Professor Budha-sMargara should possess other strengths via bhava rulership, razi, companion graha, drizti, inter alia.

  8. Ketu-Vrizchika
  9. Ketu-Dhanuzya
  10. Ketu-Makara
  11. Ketu-Kumbha
  12. Ketu-Meena

Generally, Vimshottari periods of Professor Ketu are scheduled for the purpose of release and forgiveness. The substance, idea, person, relationship, entity, or social role that is surrendered during the Ketu period is by definition spiritually unnecessary. It has outlived its usefulness and it has lost its vitality Maintaining this enervated phenomenon (whatever it is) is costing too much energy within the life system. Thus it is scheduled for release at the appointed time.

Examples of things to be released include experiences from other lives which have expired in their relevance to the current life, outdated relationships that no longer match the authentic life-force energy of the native, parts of the body that may be holding genetic memories that are scheduled for release (hair, teeth, appendix, sometimes other limbs or organs) and other similar scenarios.

Professor Ketu is Rahu's dried and lifeless tail which flutters in the ethers like a flag in the wind. Therefore Ketu periods are often associated with the cutting-off of some desiccated appendage. Along with Professor Mangala, Ketu is the co-ruler of transformative randhra-bhava-8. After releasing the unnecessary form, one often begins a path toward rejuvenation.

Ketu is not desired by Rahu. Feelings of emptiness and rejection.

Before fully realizing that the Desired One no longer matches the authentic spiritual body, Ketu periods may produce a vain hope for connection with an unavailable or inappropriate person, social role, idea, or object. Before the realization of the need to release the attachment, even knowing that the desire is lifeless, one may experience the illusion of connection which dissipates into fantasy, numbness, or distraction. Desires are dispersed into "echo" awareness that one is not desired by the object of affection. This is merely an echo of one's own higher consciousness signaling that this Object is no longer suitably connected to oneself * although in other lives and other realities the Object may have been a vital companion.

The barest vestige of a faded connection

Professor Ketu often induces a feeling of attempted reconnection with a person, place, thing, or idea that was significant in a previous life or in a distant phase of the present life. However, the attachment is vestigial, no longer part of the vital script of the true present identity. Thus, connection is often unsustainable for reasons of spirit.

The reasons of spirit often have more tangible echoes in reasons of social class attributes, reasons of knowledge lineage, reasons of ethnicity or race, reasons of doctrine, and other formal rationale. However the definitive reason for the "non-connection" experience of Ketu is that one sees the object of attachment in a distant mirror, as a mere reflection of an already completed script. The object, for its part, will generally not allow the native to make more than a temporary and superficial connection to itself.

Events related to bhava rulership of Ketu's ruler

Marriage

Professor Ketu is teaching a curriculum that focuses upon topics of impermanence, severance, amputation, abandonment, wandering, windiness, disemburdenment, and surrender. Naturally Ketu periods support psycho-spiritual opening of awareness and ego-dissolving projects.

Normally, the purpose of marriage is to establish a permanent and fruitful bond of mutual trust. Therefore marriage avowal during Ketu periods is rare and unusual. A marriage ceremony performed during Ketu bhukti may remain unconsummated. The spouse disappears either literally or figuratively, or the behavior of the spouse is exceptionally eccentric. Much depends on Ketu's ruler and upon any graha which may share a rashi with Professor Ketu.

  • POTUS-34 Interstate Highways 1890-1969 Dwight D. Eisenhower married Mamie Doud Eisenhower * during his Guru-Ketu period (his age 25, her age 19). This unusual timing is justified by the yoga Zukra-yuti-Ketu wherein Ketu can produce the effects of Zukra. The couple spent more time apart during their marriage than they spent together, due to General Eisenhower's peripatetic military career. However Zukra-yuti-Ketu in his radical Vrischika lagna suggests that his spouse nevertheless created a vitalizing identity for him, however peculiar (Ketu) may have been her personality (and his).

Maraka Agency for Professor * Exit Opening for fleshdeath

When Ketu is ruled by a graha which itself rules bhava-2 or bhava-7, Professor Ketu becomes a potential marana-karaka who gives teachings upon the subject of saturation (2) and balanced completion of the contract (7).

Ketu also has, independent of His planetary ruler, the individual chidra-kakara agency of a beheader, cord-cutter, incisor, shredder, slicer, and amputator.

Therefore Ketu periods always carry the potential scatter the material-world forms. Those "left behind" may perceive Ketu's molecular dispersal as a physical death.

General characteristics of a Chandra period

An era of amplified feelings for home and homeland. One may seek residence near the ocean shores, or shipbound. Retreat to safety and a secure routine. Typically, Chandra periods mark times of quiet retreat, ideally near the ocean. Emotional relationships are psychically sensitive and care-taking. Emphasis on domestic routines, food and nurturing, caring for and serving others, staying close to home.

Chandra is the garha-karaka for household life. Promoting the experience of familiar, rhythmic, routines and sheltered security Professor Chandra nearly always maintains some degree of comfort. Yet the outcome depends significantly upon the angle between citti-karaka Guru agent of widely expansive understanding versus matri-karaka Chandra agent of ancestral deep roots. However any angle of Chandra may produce heightened feelings of patriotism, self-defense, attachment to parents, love of the land, need for comfortable rhythms and routines, need for security.

Generally, expect an increase in the experiences associated with Chandra such as deeper emotional sensitivity, engagement with matters of security and stability, cultural tap-roots, foundational education, patriotism, defense of national-ethnic boundaries and fenced lands, as well as matters of the mother and her folk.

The specific outcome of any Chandra period depends upon the bhava rulerships held by Chandra as measured from both the radical lagna and the Chandra-lagna. Outcomes are also affected by drishti entering Chandra, by the role of Chandra's planetary ruler, and very importantly by the bhava in which Chandra resides. Chandra is so sensitive psycho-emotionally that Chandra bhukti outcomes are also particularly influenced by transits of Rahu-Ketu or transits of Shani.

In Guru-Chandra period, localist Professor Chandra seeks shelter from sudden changes and insecurity along Brihaspati's path of dogma, doctrine, philosophy, theory, and globalist humanism.

  • If Guru and Chandra are well-balanced, the globalism of Guru can complement and supplement the parochialism of Chandra -for example, one may decide to "think globally, act locally" in a well-aligned pairing of attitudes.

  • If the Guru-Chandra angle is uncomfortable, expect some tension between the very broad perspectives and potential over-confidence of Brihaspati versus the narrower and more reliable Chandra preference for local security and household affairs.

When Chandra rules the 7th or 10th radical bhava or10th navamsha or 10th-from-Chandra, Professor Para carries the potential to elevate the native into socially recognized positions of career authority and responsibilities. Promotion and obtainment of professional portfolio may be expected.

Professor Somana carries the potential to elevate the native into socially recognized positions of leadership duty associated with parenting, schoolteaching, security and police protection , farming and fishing, housing and real estate, vehicles and transportation (especially the safety aspects)ritualists and routine-makers, patriotism , and all matters of nourishing and sustaining the place of settlement .

For maximum results, Chandra must occupy a supportive angle vis-a-vis Mahadashapathi Brihaspati, and Professor Somana should possess other strengths via bhava rulership, razi, companion graha, drizti, inter alia.

  • Particularly for Chandra karmapathi Thula lagna and also for Makara lagna where Chandra rules 10th-from-10th, appointment to a higher position of social leadership can be expected to raise the social reputation and increase public regard.

quotation from B.V. Raman, Autobiography of a Vedic Astrologer , p. 99-100:

"It has been my experience over nearly sixty years that Rahu as sub-lord, whether in his own period or in the period of other planets, would always create problems of a serious nature, affecting family and personal matters, which would Test the mental and physical stamina of an individual whatever be his social, educational, or financial attainments.

  • It is also found, contrary to general belief, that planets like the Sun and Mercury, occupying Rahu's constellations are capable of conferring happy results financially and career-wise but would create situations in domestic life, which could shatter a person's self-confidence and make him experience results which he would ordinarily never expect to happen.

There are of course exceptions which I will discuss in due course..."

chidra-dasha * Final Bhukti of the 16-year Guru Mahadasha

The final bhukti requires return of unusable energies, cutting-off, severance, release, forgiveness. Final bhukti of any mahadasha is time to wind down, relax, and release.

Remedial Seva to relieve the karmic pressure of ignorance may be offered to Rahu-ambitious folk. Seva examples may include counseling support for those deranged by desires . Beware the Opportunistic Rahu-mind operating the chidra-dasha Tired Body.

Results of Rahu periods depend substantially upon the bhava and ruler of Professor Rahu.

Despite being the chidra-dasha, if Professor Rahu is empowered and especially if Rahu receives drishti of Guru, there may be amplified results for the typical Rahu-MixMaster undertakings such as religious-social-racial-cultural mixing.

Rahu is an instrumentalist taboo-breaker and an economic-linkage opportunist. If Rahu sees an opportunity for gaining His social-material objectives during the Guru-Rahu period, and the supporting situation of transits and behavior of Rahu's ruler are cooperating, the Guru-Rahu period can produce remarkable outcomes.

  • My Sweet Lord 1943-2001 Beatle George Harrison * Rahu-9. During Guru-Rahu period 1970-1971, Harrison's song "My Sweet Lord" reached number-one on global Anglosphere sales charts. In typical Rahu-9 fashion, this devotional paean to Lord Krishna previously contextualized in the religious culture of India-Nepal ambitiously crossed boundaries into the Judeo-Christian world and fascinated (Rahu) the western audience. * Guru-Rahu period * Rahu-9 dharma paradigms of belief, preaching.

Guru-Rahu period introduces Rahu-agents who operate under the disguise of patrons, father-figures, and paternalistic preacher-teachers. They seem wise. These agents may promise to guide the native into doctrinally principled or theoretically coherent, multiplying, expansion-and-abundance centered lifestyles. The Rahu agents may serve as impostors who mimic the father-figure, demonstrating a mesmerizing ability to solve every problem via shepherd-like pastoral guidance (Guru) to those seeking fulfillment of expectations.

The chidra-dasha of each Mahadasha is specifically designed as a time to let go of unfulfilled expectations and forgive unpayable debts. It is the designated time to permit people and situations which have not borne their expected fruits to be released on their own cognizance.

The chidra-dasha should be a time of freeing the slaves, waving goodbye to unworkable plans and promises which did not mature, and lightening the load of outdated expectations. By using the chidra-dasha period to off-load unnecessary grievances, eradicate excess guilt, and be disemburdened of antiquated ideas, one can enter the forthcoming challenges of the Shani mahadasha with no excess baggage, feeling lean and mean.

Yet Rahu the Rogue, anurakti-karaka representing the love passions, instills a craving for sensual affections mixed with ambition for higher social privilege and upward social mobility. It can be a recipe for the scheming, passionate, often impulsive, desire-driven marriage commitment which is nearly always short-lived yet not to be criticized. Such a union may be an instrumental feature upon the incarnational path.

If the desires enflame during Guru-Rahu period and a wedding seems "desirable" then Professor Rahu will teach His curriculum in the classroom of marriage.

Shri Rahuva by His nature cannot stop. At the end of any other mahadasha it is easy to see a natural stopping place. At the end of Budha Mahadasha, a bhukti of Shani implies scarcer resources, stiffness, cold, and slowed movement. One stutters to a stop, drained of fuel. Budha-Shani period often strips-down the lifestyle to a bare skeleton. Ketu mahadasha ends with the Ketu-Budha bhukti which is not necessarily slow or depressed like Shani but rather utterly neutral with no commitments words are birds .

Similarly at the end of a two-decade Zukra Mahadasha, a bhukti of chidra-karaka Ketu scatters the attachment to form, guillotines the head of the main agents in one's life, and deconstructs reality in a fundamental way by spinning up a whirling dust-cloud of inchoate matter. Zukra's bargaining stops as partnership loses material meaning. Even the briefer Mahadasha of Mangala concludes in a pattern of routine-rhythmic Chandra-bhukti providing no-progress-only-repeats. Self-reflexive Surya Mahadasha ends with a decentralized bhukti of other-focused Zukra. So, normally, there is a clear signal to stop, unload, forgive at the end of each mahadasha.

The salient exception to this easy-to-identify, mahadasha-end cycle of debriefing, summarizing, and off-loading is the Guru-Rahu chidra-dasha. This period carries the unique potential for ambitious, exciting Professor Rahu to escalate a waning project or relationship into the realm of higher voltage, greater aspiration, amplified expectations. While observers may comment that investing resources into an outdated, unsupported, fading prospect is an example of throwing pearls before swine, the native may be mesmerized by the Rahu agent. Evaluate Rahu's characteristics to identify the Rahu agent.

While in company of the Rahu agent, one may indeed self-elevate into the higher rank and its privileges of the Guru-oriented abundant self-multiplying world of philosophical, theoretical, or doctrinal pursuits

However toward the end of the Rahu bhukti it may become more obvious that most of the Rahu agent's claims are mere punditry . Rahu may introduce an irregular guru whose teachings are fascinating but deceptive, illusory, or fraudulent.

One may experience the chidra-dasha as a rather delicate state in which one feels over-extended (Rahu).

While progressing through the Guru-Rahu chidra-dasha , one may experience an odd combination of exhilaration (Rahuva) and disconnection (chidra).

Any final bhukti of any mahadasha imbues the emotional body with a sense of completion. Looking back over 16 years of Guru's expansion, one may feel tired from the expansive fertility of it all * especially if Brihaspati = L-2, L-3, rogesha-6 , or maraka rules-7.

Ambitious Professor Rahu by His nature stimulates the desire for more and higher privilege. Thus Rogue-Rahu's quest for prestige in matters of the bhava occupied by Rahu may be fueled in a crazy-tired sort of frenzy. Rahu often exhibits compulsive camouflaging and pretending to continue to have enthusiasm for new opportunities, even while inside one is really quite tired and seeking a restorative break.

Special considerations for Rank-and-Status Raise during the chidra-dasha

The closure-and-completion signification of the chidra-dasha does not alter the benefits of public honors bestowed during the chidra-dasha. Yet the promotion in rank that may be obtained during this final bhukti may signify the end of a period of respected accomplishments rather than the beginning of a new era of public responsibilities.

Typically the titles bestowed during a chidra-dasha social promotion are honorific and summative in nature rather than formative toward the next phase career development. Nevertheless if Professor Shani is materially strong , the entitlement or authority received even at this time of forgiveness and conclusion may carry forward into the subsequent Mahadasha of Shani.

Events related to bhava rulership of Rahu's Ruler

Marriage

The chidra-dasha closure period is an unusual time to start an enterprise such as marriage or business partnership which is expected to endure . However, any Rahu period during any mahadasha may support ceremonial wedding, if the Rahu period contains a matching transit of Rahu-Ketu contact one of the marriage-timing axes.

Rahu-timed avowal shows results of Rahu-the-Mixmaster . Rahu-timed marriage suggests an impulsive, instrumental, and opportunistic alliance. The Rahu-agent partner may hail from a fascinatingly diverse set of cultural roots, perhaps a different social class or race, or a different ideology-faith-credenda, This diversity facilitates Rahu's over-reaching ascent across taboo-barriers The marriage prospect may be apprehended as irresistible and exciting.

Professor Rahu sees a mesmerizing opportunity for expediently reaching a higher privilege, and He acts impetuously without delay. Usually, relatively little time (Shani) is invested in betrothal or ritual preparation for the ceremony. There may be only partial agreement of the families - or the wedding may be forbidden by social rules. While the alliance continues to benefit the social mobility ascension of the couple, Rahu-timed marriages may endure as long as any other. Longevity of the union depends upon the marriage profile elements in both nativities, particularly the 7th-from-Chandra.

The special implications of Guru-Rahu period being the chidra-dasha include a forecast for closure and completion of a 16-year life period, often in exotic circumstances due to Professor Rahu's volatility. No matter the qualities of the alliance, this period is an ending period. The qualities of radical and navamsha Shani will determine whether the native can simultaneously maintain this alliance while conforming to the conventions, duties, and strictures of the forthcoming 19-year mahadasha of Shani.

Permission for fleshdeath

As measured from any radical lagna, Guru-Rahu bhukti is a potential marana-karaka, particularly but not exclusively if Rahu occupies bhava-2 or Rahu occupies bhava-7, or if Rahu's ruler = maraka rules-2 or maraka rules-7.

For any lagna, Rahu's maraka potential is enhanced if Rahu occupies bhava-2 or Rahu occupies bhava-7.

Rahu's characteristic recklessness and willingness to take high risks into order to achieve high privileges can under certain circumstances contribute to His involvement with shocking accidental and fatal injuries. However as always the agency of any potential makara is much constrained by the overall pattern of longevity in the nativity, including the nature of randhrasthana counted from radical lagna and 8th-from-Chandra .

  • POTUS-08 Democratic Party 1782-1862 Martin Van Buren left his body (age 79) via tuberculosis. An elderly widow, Van Buren died in the care of his adult child at her home. His 8th-from-Chandra bhava-2 is empty suggesting a quiet passage in the presence of family (2).

Q:Hello,

I am a follower of your website and my wife has learned a lot form it, I am confused with the following as I have currently running Zukra bhukti under Guru Mahadasha and my Zukra is 2nd from lord of Dasha and Zukra is Yuvati's lord Also

Which of the following I should follow more as your website says 2 different things :

45-47 1/2. if Zukra is in a Kendra, Trikona, or in the 2nd from the Lord of the Dasha.

  • There will be gain of wealth , happiness from wife, meeting with the king, increase in the number of children, conveyances and cattle, enjoyment of music, society with men of learning, Availability of sweetish preparations, giving help and assistance to kinsmen etc.,

48-50. if Zukra is Dhana's, or Yuvati's Lord

  • loss of wealth , fear of premature death, Antagonism with wife etc. will be experienced.

A: Namaste,

The lines you have copied (45-47 1/2 and 48-50 ) are quotations from Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra * the great classic of Jyotisha commentary transcribed in approximately the era of 550-600 C.E.

The original shloka could be vastly older than that, but the occasion of actually writing down the oral tradition is linguistically dated to approximately 5th-6th century of the Common Era (CE).

The lines are the product of long centuries of Sanskrit metered-chanting, which have recently been rendered into English;

These translations follow the rules of Sanskrit prosody not the rules of English prosody; therefore they can sound a bit choppy in English for sure.

48-50. if Zukra is Dhana's, or Yuvati's Lord, loss of wealth , fear of premature death, Antagonism with wife etc. will be experienced,

These shloka refer to bhava rulership, not bhava occupation .

Naturally, if Zukra is the maraka rules-2 or the maraka rules-7, Zukra's periods will contain awareness of death.

Zukra = marana-karaka for Mesha, Kanya, and Vrizchika lagna. Zukra = a double-killer for Mesha lagna.

Zukra = a pleasure-lover, so when Lord Bhrigu becomes aware of the presence of death, He does not welcome this threat of losing the flesh-body's access to sensual pleasures.

Thus Zukra feels fear or frustration about death.

Zukra is not a wise graha. Bhrigu is very materialistic and He likes it that way. (Zukra is Shani's BFF.) Zukra does not accept death very gracefully despite His overall graciousness! Death logically gives a loss of wealth. The basic reality of death is that "you can't take it with you".

Also., if Zukra = yuvatipathi-7 , seventh = 6th [poverty]-from-2nd, which means that certain set-ups for yuvatipathi-7 Zukra can stimulate "poverty of cintamani * mani * money. 6th-from-2nd.

One of the major causes of the native 's experience of poverty of cintamani * mani * money is the agent who spends most of one's capital wealth and that is the business partner, attorney, consultant, adviser, or wife - the agents of Yuvati.

Antagonism with wife comes from Zukra's capacity as ruler of dhana bhava. bhava-2 is inevitably the 6/8-from-7th.

  • bhava-2 rules second marriage and if the culture permits more than one wife (which most cultures traditional ly did) then the first wife rather naturally resents the second wife.

  • Yet if a man starts to gain some wealth due to Zukra one of his first acquisitions is typically an additional wife.

bhava-2 also rules the mouth.

  • When Zukra is empowered in relation to bhava-2, the mouth is looking for sweet pleasures, especially ladies and wines. First wife is likely to take a dim view of these delights, thus antagonism with wife.

Here is where you can see the effect of the traditional Sanskrit shloka telegraphic style creating a choppy English output.

  • The initial explanatory causative phrases because Zukra becomes the lord of the awkward shad-ashtaka 6/8 angle from-yuvati ruling marriage partner or because yuvati is also 6/8-from-2nd ruling hoards of treasure are not articulated.

  • These missing parts occur mainly because most of the people who received these shloka for passing down through memorized chants did indeed already know the vidya pretty well, so it wasn't much trouble for them to fill in the connections.

  • However, it's undeniably hard on us modern beginners to get the transmission in bits and pieces.

  • We have to fill in the missing pieces with logic.

Similarly, Parashara says -- 45-47 1/2. if Zukra is in a Kendra, Trikona, or in the 2nd from the Lord of the Dasha.

  • There will be gains of wealth; happiness from wife; meeting with the king, increase in the number of children, conveyances and cattle, enjoyment of music, society with men of learning, availability of sweetish; preparations; giving help and assistance to kinsmen etc.,

This shloka is about graha in occupation of a bhava, not lordship.

  • A material-sensual benefic in kendra (corners) or trikona gives materially pleasurable results.

  • Zukra = karaka for sweet tastes (sugar, alcohol) pleasures of the five senses, valuable things, beauty, cintamani * mani * money, art, music, and harmonious relationships.

  • Naturally all of these pleasures will arrive if the sukha-graha is well placed.

  • Again some of the lead-in phrases are not fully articulated.

If Zukra occupies domains 1, 5 or 9 pleasures of children are enhanced.

  • In bhava-10, prestigious meetings with the king and the enhanced public reputation it brings. In bhava-9, men of learning (universities, temples).

  • The 2nd-from reveals matters of the family lineage.

  • During periods of a well-disposed Zukra that is 2nd-from the mahadashapati, one may find one's resources (bhava-2, 2nd-from) have increased to the point where one can enjoy the pleasure of giving help and assistance to those in one's family lineage, the kinfolk.

And so on, with Zukra giving the pleasures derived from accumulation of resources (wealth) and fleshly sensual experience, according to the house in which Zukra lives.

I hope it is clear that there is no contradiction in the BPHS [Chapter 56: Effects of the Antara Dasha in the Dasha of Guru, shloka 45-50] re: Zukra.

There are however persistent literary translation issues, and for these let us have compassion for both the translator and the reader!

  • 45-47 refer to bhava position,

  • whereas 48-50 refer to bhava lordship.

  • One may possess simultaneously many pleasurable accumulations of financial wealth and prospects for sensual experience (especially through marriage, via women) and be at the same time afraid to lose these things, or be in conflict with someone who is opposed to one's possession of these things.
